He's producing Super Mario Odyssey, and Producers don't actually work on the games, they just fund and supervise them and keep the actual developers in check.

He should direct a Zelda game, not that I don't love Breath of the Wild, but he seems to have the best ideas at Nintendo.

He's the unsung hero of Nintendo. He loves the company and its IPs too much to leave them in the hands of suits who don't understand their appeal like he does.

Koizumi is producing the game, not directing or writing or developing or etc. He has little to no creative freedom.
