Why doesn't he leave nintendo and start up a third party development studio or direct a game for a different third party development studio? He is literally Nintendo's best director, but Nintendo hasn't let him work on a game in over a decade.
According to wikipedia he's working on Super Mario Odyssey

He's producing Super Mario Odyssey, and Producers don't actually work on the games, they just fund and supervise them and keep the actual developers in check.
He proved Miyamoto wrong. So he was punished just like Rare.
*raughs
He should direct a Zelda game, not that I don't love Breath of the Wild, but he seems to have the best ideas at Nintendo.

Breath of the Wild directed by Koizumi would literally be pure vidya kino and it would actually deserve 10/10but it'd get 7/10's because it'd be too hard for journalists
He's the unsung hero of Nintendo. He loves the company and its IPs too much to leave them in the hands of suits who don't understand their appeal like he does.
Daily reminder that Koizumi is the anti-Miyamoto, constantly thwarting Shiggy's wishes by sneaking lore into the Mario games wherever he can get it through.

Reminder that Miyamoto is butthurt as fuck that Koizumi is in charge of Odyssey and will now make all of his creative ideas a reality after the generic soulless Miyamoto Mario games fell flat.

Koizumi is producing the game, not directing or writing or developing or etc. He has little to no creative freedom.
