I figured out why the NV DLCs are the best out of the franchise. It's because they're all connected to each other with a connected story arc mostly seperate from the main storyline. It's like playing a sequel or something since there's (for the most part) subtle parallels with the other expansions. Elijah traveling to Big MT and getting directed towards the Sierra Madre by Ulysses, who is also caring for Christine, who failed to assassinate Elijah and goes after him to the Sierra Madre where you meet her. There's also more physical clues like Ulysses' various old world flag emblems painted across Big MT to signal caches, safe, and dangerous areas, his unique location "Ulysses' Point" cave (where you find the audio logs of him and Christine), Christine's Recon armor she abandoned for a stealth suit, the impact Ulysses had on the tribe in HH, the backstory behind the Ghost People and the Cloud, being experiments carried out by Big MT, and so many more minute but engaging details that intertwine the DLC's story arc focusing on the obsession with the Old World.

In FO3 and 4, you don't see any of that, as the DLCs are hardly connected, if in any capacity.

In FO3, you have a Pre-War combat simulator, a slave town with an impending revolt and the threat of the Trogs, a continuation of the main story, a swampland with hillbilly mutants, and an ayylien dlc that's almost just a joke. Although some of these expansions are still fun, they are all completely individual and have almost no, if any, ties with eachother, as if they were thrown together as the devs went along with no set plan.

This is also present in FO4 (don't even get me started on there only being two actual expansions). Far Harbor, in my opinion, was pretty good despite FO4 in general being mediocre, even Nuka World was alright. However, both expansions were completely seperate, with no connections between them and barely so the base game (excluding the Gunners in NW) (1/2)

Is there anywhere that has detailed instructions on actually getting TTW to run? The site's full of holes in instructions and doesn't even explain how to get the bugfix you need to work

This isn't exactly a bad thing, mind you. Plenty of the expansions were good without being a part of some grand storyline across every part.

However, the way New Vegas did it enhanced the DLC storyline by miles. Should they have been all separate, NV's DLCs would have still been great, possibly still the best ones in the series. But the intertwined stories, details, and unveiled mysteries stacks on top of unanswered questions made the expansion storyline probably the best DLC I've ever played, putting the rest of the series' expansions, even today's, to shame.

About 70 of the quests require at least neutral NCR reputation. This isn't counting major NCR quests or stuff House and Yes-Man offer. If you're hated by the NCR you will also be whacked at by the cops on the Strip, and if you fight back you then have to fight the robots, vilifying you with the Strip.

The game heavily, heavily, heavily favors NCR.
