How do you spend the XCOM AP that the faction heroes collect? I've purchased Sustain and Reaper on my Templar but it just used the normal soldier AP.

in my run the assassin spawned with the berserkers, the hunter spawned with the sectopods, and the warlock spawned in the final room with the avatars.

by the end of the game the chosen become a joke, even with 5 strengths, i dont think any of them lasted more than a turn.

Loving the update so far, but damn even with all the qol mods, im still struggling with the UI. The fucking around with attachments and swapping the guns for the kitted out one for the squad, trying to find out who likes who pre-bonded and trying to stick to it, the entire covert op screen without a way to preview or modify soldiers and making sure those guys arent taking vital equipment for a joyride, all the shit you can only see from the battlescape like orders, the radio-grid, the chosen infos, the fact that batlescape idling ticks away at a non-trivial pace and so much more....

Technically there's two, there is also code for a "psychotic" chosen or something along those lines. I've seen people also mention that there was going to be a 4th faction, some form of android class, and there are also android voice lines in the SDK, so they probably just ran out of budget.

Worth noting that the android voice lines are named Julian(sounds nothing like the Julian we know though, they also sound like placeholder lines like with the Zealot), so it could be nothing, or maybe they were going to integrate Shen's last gift as a 4th faction with Julian as the leader, we'll never know.

Fireteam - squad size limited to two. Mission is adjusted accordingly.

Juggernaut - only one soldier may be sent. Mission is adjusted accordingly, and soldier is given the Juggernaut ability, allowing them to react to every enemy action on the turn when activated.

They are also granted immunity to mental effects, along with being able to parry viper grabs.

Ambush - ADVENT will launch multiple reinforcements once XCOM completes the mission objective.

Chemical Leak - high concentrations of acid pools will appear in the mission area. Due to potential of acid pools appearing on spawn, XCOM will have temporary acid immunity at mission start for two turns.

Low Visibility - adverse conditions in the area has reduced the visibility of both XCOM and the enemy

Black Ops - if XCOM kills every visible enemy before their turn is over, XCOM will regain concealment

Advanced - the enemy fields units more advanced than normal, but in reduced number.

Waves - ADVENT will keep launching reinforcements until XCOM completes the objective

Phalanx - Enemy units are somewhat reduced in number, but will be gathered around the objective: prepare for heavy duty combat.

Holy fuck my heart is pounding. I just defeated the assassin. She popped up in a mission I thought would be relatively easy. I am early in the game so my guys feel so fucking vulnerable.

I was using hunker down in a spread out pattern on a subway map. She slashed my guys like 4 times. Luckily I had a medkit specialist. I was so scared to move and track her down though for fear of activating another pod.

Eventually, I was able to use a reaper to find her, then I sword rushed my ranger in who is pair bonded with the reaper, used the reaper bond action to give the ranger another action. Point blank shard shotgun with a laser sight and talon rounds to the assasins face. She was killed instantly.

What do you get if you defeat a chosen in a mission be full depletion of their health? I didn't seem to get anything out of the ordinary I thought?

Also, are talon rounds really useful? That time they probably saved my ass allowing my ranger to diareha SHIT into the assassin.

So far, I am also kind of underwhelmed by the reapers offensive capabilities. Her utility is fucking nuts though, I actually can't fathom not having her to scout these missions out. Not to mention claymore into a grenade launcher nade is fucking diabolic.

Put a laser sight on her, pick up Blood Trail and then the skill that keeps her in concealment if you kill with her. She's meant to get crit kills from stealth. Mine crits for 9 all the time and usually kills. Get Sting if you want to attack and stay in stealth for that shot if you need to soften something up.

It means that your having some kind of power issue. Check your PSU and the connections to the Motherboard. Another possibility is your RAM. Are you sure you have the right RAM for your motherboard? When it gets taxed, it might increase it's draw rate more then your motherboard says it should and so your computer is forcing a shutdown to protect the motherboard. RAM could also just be going bad. Do a stress test on them and see if your computer resets.

I think LW2's reception has been much more mixed than LW1. It basically doubles down on a lot of mechanics and playstyles that some people didn't love about X2. So there's a good chance that how you feel about LW2 is going to be a more extreme like/dislike of how you felt about X2.

Wotc opens the game up a bit more, adding new mechanics and variety on the strategic and tactical layers, and seems to be appealing to a broader audience because of it.

Yep.
Think like this, the game rolls 65 as your lucky number, if you have an ayy in half-cover and your chance to hit is 64%, you miss. If that half-cover were to be removed, you would have a chance of 84, thus making it a hit. The prob is, you cannot know that lucky number. So all you can do is TRY to maximise your chances and by that I mean, not just the hit. But all the chances you will have to take if your initial one fails.

Personal sequel setup:

XCOM2 ends with a Pyhrric victory. You still defeat the elders, but the crew (and equipment, all of it) is stuck in Waterworld.

Psionic explosion travels back the gate when the elders die, shorts out the avenger, everything explodes.

Commander is catatonic. Tygan and Bradford drag Shen out of the wreckage, who lost an arm and now has a prosthetic, a cool scar, and finally trusts Tygan maybe.

Still, the day is won. The factions get along reasonably well and play nice, but still become powerplayers (while XCOM, having lost their best men and gear is back to almost square 0). Everyone reaches their goals to some degree, but frictions are growing, especially between the populace and the now unbound ADVENT.

Then Terror From the Deep shit starts happening. XCOM needs to come back into action, but the Commander is still out of it. A new Commander, a new generation must step up to face this new, insidious, alien menace.

The Avatar Timer is the Icecaps melting and tectonic plates being sinked.

The Commander (who we never see personally, and communicates through Bradford) starts randomly saying things that can be interpreted as prophetic visions about where the aliens strike.

The people stuck at the bottom of the ocean had been assimilated by the Psychic/biotech/Cthulu based aliens, and act as their most elite team. Commander Avatar still houses the part of Commander's mind, and is being used as the alien's trump card. The psychic link between the two still lingers, which is where the vegetable is getting his premonitions.

Yes and sometimes a dark event will not fire until the next month so...

allowing you to counter the shit one that you couldn't before. I'm not 100% sure how it happens, perhaps only one dark event per month. In any case, chosen can initiate a dark event that cannot by any means be countered outside of killing the chosen for good once it's stronghold is available.

Assuming you're at least in range of a facility, you shouldn't worry about the Avatar dark events anymore. The game is fairly generous with ways of countering it now.
