The emulator can only run specific games. Right now, Persona 5 is just being prioritized along with Demon Souls due to demand. Most toasters can run it as well as the PS3 does.
That said, 90% of vita/ps4 multiplats have only minor issues for the Vita. The only real ones that are significant are Atelier Firis, and depending on whether minor early-game content is a priority, Ys8.

So there is no need to be on the lookout for them in the other slots.
Just keep an eye on your weapons, and see if they have a blue xx% marker at the begining of the sentence, and it's usually one of those two.

Kinda. They join and leave at points.
Also for the first three parts of chapter 2, you have to bring 1 adult in 2 class VII members with you on missions because bringing a full party would leave the home base defenseless.

After you get Class VII back together, Toval, Sharon, Clare all leave and don't rejoin until the final dungeon.

Towa joins near the end.
Alfin is final dungeon only.

as for the super spoilers, they are people you meet in the game but playing as them requires an EXPENSIVE AS FUCK (200,000 Mira) accessory PER CHARACTER and completely optional

Anyway, aside from what people say about the story and characters, I also don't really like the gameplay that much. Hard mode was boring, but Nightmare gives next to no gold and exp so it can become quite grindy, making it even more boring outside of the bosses. Exploration was also pretty boring, for me. And even the music wasn't that amazing, it was good but not that amazing.
