Alright, I'm a legend Hearthstone player who wants to take a break from Druids and try Shadowverse
I played a few of the solo missions and a few pvp and know enough that I want to hard roll for forest because it's exactly the playstyle I like. Would this deck be adequate for grinding a collection at pubstomp ranks/improving? Besides Ancient Elves and Rhinoceroach, what else should I look for in my roll? Looking into the sticky rn for more general beginner tips but was just wondering if anything is new in that archetype that changes things

That seems like a fine Tempo/Aggro deck for low ranks.
The best Forest deck right now is definetely Roach Combo, and will probably remain so after the nerfs. For that you need Ancient Elf, Roach and Crystalia Aerin. More than that are only techs, like Silver Bolt + White Wolf, or Will of the Forest. When rerolling, definetely try to go after Demonlord Eachtar as he will be giving you 3500 vials when liquefied, that you can use to craft any other legendar you want.
Keep in mind that Forest was in a bad spot in pre-nerf meta.

White Wolf of Eldwood and silver bolt are two cards that work as a secondary wincon for roach.
Jungle Warden is a good gold to have for it, Crystalia Aerin too.
Beauty and the Beast, "Alice, Wonderland Explorer", and Elf Twin assault are necessary for the good forest deck though.

Those are not necessary at all for a new player learning the game and the deck. You don't need super refined decks in lower ranks, especially in a fresh meta. Aerin, Roach and AE is enough. Maybe WotF would also be good to have.

Guy, I'm not lying when I'm saying that I get more wins in AA playing fairy driver deck than a B&B deck with wolf bolt as a second win con. B&B seems great on paper, but it's a complete meme. Dragon beats it. Shadow Beats it. Heaven beats it. Blood beats it. B&B tailored deck does very well against few specific decks, but they are all decks that aren't popular right now.
Just make a fairy driver deck, throw in 3 roaches and you have a turn 8 winning deck regardless of how much removal and trades get thrown your way. Forest just can't compete with the mass removals shadow and blood have right now. This is my experience with B&B all expansion.

Eachtar's rush and +2 attack does not cost shadow. Even before the nerfs, I already see people dropping 1 or 2 drop from hand first before Eachtar to save shadow. He is strong not because of the zombies, but because of the rush and +2 attack. Also one of the more disgusting thing is that on turn 7, you can trade in a bone chimera which is already on the board, and gain 2 free rush 3/1s. One of the reason Tove was ridiculous because of the rush, but Eachtar can literally make a 1PP Tove with Skull beast. Last time a net cost of zombie is 2 which is ridiculous, now the net cost of a zombie is 3 which give some breathing room to other classes. Even after using squasher, usually shadow still have 5 to 6 shadows left at turn 7. Once I saw a shadow with a nut draw had 12 shadow after using squasher, which just gave him a full board after a Thermis. The verdict is, even after the so called "nerf", Eachtar is still pretty broken. The only thing different is that more of them will run Thane together with Eachtar now, which was already a trend in mid August anyway. You want a board but not enough shadow on turn 7? Just Thane. They cleared your board? Just skull beast/goblin + Eachtar turn 8 to regain board control. Have enough shadow? Oh then turn 7 Eachtar like the old days.

To begin with, sounds like your collection is shit. Stop vialing everything just to make the brain dead Tier 0 deck. If you honestly want to get better, start by playing various deck types. Unga blood is cheap as fuck, Dimension Shift is cheap as fuck, Enstatued Seraph is cheapish, Mid Sword is Cheapish, Neptits is 80% complete. There's so many decks you can make that don't require a deep well of vials.
Rank has nothing to do with being a complete fucking autist about your deck. I got to masters with Storm haven in a meta where is was "Only" Tier 1/Tier 2.
