I hoarded coins for days because I didn't think prophecies did anything worthwhile(skipped that league). I recently started spending them and keep getting free uber lab trials, free rare maps from bosses, got one that doubled up all the rare enemies in a map etc.
Nothing too amazing but they are definitely useful to spend a whole page of coins on.

I spent a weekend farming them and thought it was decent enough. From selling lab enchant, master exp and other decent prophecies i was already making profit. Then i also dropped a couple of council uniques and sold a bunch of council fragments. Playing like 4 hours a day i ended up with a 200c profit in two days. You only really have to go out of your way when its a council prophecy. Seal the unique drop/upgrade ones when its for a shit unique because they just waste space.

I find SRS fucking awful, but when i started using spectres in the build it was actually cool.

I got a witch up to like level 20 and am having trouble deciding if i want to make a bosskiller using ED Contagion, who i guess can also map just fine or a spectre summoner.
I don't know what spectres excel at in the endgame but they always looked fun. I hear the new solar guards are strong atm as well.

/poeg/, I need your help.
I wanted to play something effortless game play wise. By watching some videos and searching for builds on forums and poebuilds.cc, I noticed that SRS would fit my needs, since the only thing I would need to do is summon and see them wipe the whole screen.
I saw that a lot of this builds splash to other summons (Spectres, Zombies and Skeletons) and that's where I don't know which would be better for the game play style I am trying to achieve.
So, what do you guys think? Is SRS the right choice for me? If yes, which other summon should I go for? Zombies? Spectres? Skeletons?
Any help and input is appreciated.

Afaik, SRS is great for "early game", but eventually you can become more effective as a summoner if you change from SRS to other summon (like spectre in this case).
Ghazzy's build seems to be more beginner friendly, but I will definitely take a look at both.

you run rt. you can get shock from other sources like cwdt and some other lightning spell or get the lab boot enchant that gives you a perma 10% chance to shock, ignite or freeze if you haven't crit recently. since you don't crit at all it's a permanent 10%

How many Hair Triggers are you running? Did you make sure to pick up all the trigger AoE on the tree?

You can always grab Sunblast + 1 Cheap Construction + a Quality 4-8 level 20 Less Duration gem for your traps. SPECIFICALLY Quality 4-8. That'll give your Traps a duration of ~.52-.55 seconds, which is enough time for them to be triggered by an enemy for Tinkerskin, but if they aren't, the Sunblast will detonate them so you'll still get the damage, and it'll be fast enough that you aren't scraping the trap cap.

I haven't really been having any problems. I don't even have a 5L yet and my damage is good. Bosses aren't great but they're no worse than anything else I've played.

What's your tooltip damage? Is Fire Trap your only 5L? Remember that it's only 1/3 of your damage on its own, so having it in a 5L and everything else in a 4L is like having everything in a 4.3L.

also, the difference between picking up 1 chaos and picking up 1 chaos worth of 3 different kinds of shards is a very practical and real one. i believe GGG has said they balance the game around a certain level of tedium, effort, and time-wasting, as weird as it sounds. they intentionally make loot semi-hard to pick up, identify, store, vendor, and trade so that it feels more valuable once you get to that end point, currency feels like it takes effort to acquire and use which makes it feel more like real currency.

so in GGG's own terms, 1 chaos orb drop is literally worth more than 1 chaos worth of 3 different kinds of shards, because the former you can just pick up with one click and use immediately, but the latter takes several clicks then needs to be stored to be later combined with other shards before being usable

I can't imagine this is a very big damage boost for you, but I don't know your exact build. Maybe swap it out for Elemental Focus? The increase in DoT DPS will balance out the loss of Ignite. Or even Controlled Destruction?

Cluster Traps are a huge damage increase. I'm not exaggerating when I say that they're a 160% More multiplier. You'll lose a bit of DoT damage, but I don't think it's very much compared to the huge raw damage increase you'll get.

If I were you, I'd swap crit strikes for elemental focus and conc. effect for Cluster traps (conc and cluster don't mix well).
