and i blame fucking microsoft for all of this mess. gigantic could have come out when the hero centric genre was primed for a good game to claim the throne, but then they partnered with microsoft. forced them to change the entire infrastructure of the game which took so goddamn long and then microsoft stopped funding them. after all the fucking work and losing a lot of player goodwill making it windows10/xbox exclusive. like what the absolute fuck. this was still before overwatch came out and dominated the market, so i fucking hope to god that microsoft are fucking kicking themselves for missing such a big chance.

i love motiga and how much unbelievable passion they put into the game from that point to get it published. they deserve so much better. ):

I feel like the current meta is heavily reliant on ranged DPS and turtling upon taking a slight advantage

Melee characters are pretty underpowered (the strongest being Ramsey/Tripp/margrave all for different reasons) pakko zandora tyto wu knossos all get shredded

characters with multiple escapes seem to be the meta because breaking LOS is the best way to stay alive NOT mitigating damage.

Makes me sad because I love playing melee IMO i think a increase of armor across the board for everyone except margrave and tripp would fix this OR giving melee stronger engagement tools so they can break the ranged death ball

I do agree though. But I think current meta works only in pubs. If we ever get ranked, some of "underwopered" heroes, which require a bit of team play start to shine.

Ranged attacks make you safer, Cador offering healing and free armor. Even with armor break if you're near me and cador that's plus 10 armor.

The barrier with the armor boost upgrade keeps teammates safe from ranged for retreats and gives armor for melee trades

I get it, but for teamfights using it at the start will allow your brawlers to win engagements against enemy brawlers. And if things don't go the right way, you can generally use it around the time the fight starts to cool off if things aren't going your way either.
