Kass is a hard gamble. If he gets ganked a lot before he gets his ult or just plain gets out-aggressioned by his opponent, he gets gimped to hell.
He relies on playing safe until level 6 and then destroying squishy mages who can't deal with his mobility, if he can't do that he's just kind of a low damage dude who jumps around a lot.

Vlad is kinda similar, you have to aggro the shit out of him with an earlygame damage champion/ganks or else he'll just sustain all day.
The alternative is to take a tank against him who can turtle and survive through all his ranged poke/harass so that he doesn't just farm kills.
He can be beaten, but he's a ranged top laner, meaning he generally just has the advantage in exchange for having no stuns or anything like that.

Anivia is squishy as a motherfucker and can't output much damage until she has a really significant mana pool, she's incredibly easy to abuse early if you do it right considering she's got zero mobility and really slow movespeed.
If you let the game stretch too long she's a terror though, her wall is a teamfight destroyer.

Notice a theme here wherein typically, if a character feels like complete bullshit, it's typically because you HAVE to shut them down early.
Until you're deep into level 30, you won't consistently get to have a jungler, and it'll be a long fuckin time before you get a jungler who's actually decent, so champs like these who need to be taken down early just get to get away with pushing their lanes in and freefarming.

Either that or a character feels like bullshit because their earlygame is really good, in which case the solution is obviously just to turtle to starve them of kills and wait until their damage falls off.
