At first I thought it was because of Set Rotation but noone who runs Lost World is running Set Rotation alongside it so I'm wondering what purpose it serves. The majority of girls don't break into the game because it's a generic shounen that only gets fujo fanart. Fortunately, Arc-V had premier fujobait, and Yusaku is even stronger fujobait since he's not lusting after vaginas, so more women are getting into the scene. Konami of Japan hosts special events just for girls where they can learn how to play, as well as participate in girls-only tournaments to help encourage them to participate without feeling like they're going to be harassed or humiliated for being there, and so far several girls have started to win with ridiculously meta decks, or cute but broken decks like Fluffals. I personally believe it's why Trickstars exist as they do, to give them a "girly" but strong archetype that isn't Fuckhugecockdinodragonmech.

Atem and Yugi are both the main character. Atem is even the one used in 99% of all advertising.

Judai was bland as hell early on in GX but after Johan ends up in the monster world his actions and personality become interesting as hell. There's intrigue in his character after Yubel is introduced.
