Hard to say, it was a pretty gradual process with bursts of tryhard training mode when I felt frustrated at still not having them down. It just sorta got easier and easier over time, GG is my first serious fighting game and I'd say I had over 350 hours in the game before I started getting the actually difficult ones in training mode.
As for when to break, the answer is: almost always, HFBing your normals will make them better on block (at best +2) and will allow you to keep the pressure on your opponent by staying close. HFB your pokes, HFB to get closer during pressure, HFB to close the distance after a knockdown, HFB to create combos and so on. As for when you need raw 6K loops, generally after a blocked burst in the corner or a very high wallsplat hit (6P CH into 6K on light characters).

Charge it at all times possible, you can keep the charge during blockstrings that switch between standing and crouching moves by keeping the stick on the left side of the gate (or dpad), for example to do 2K c.S f.S 2D you go 1K 4S 4S 1D.
You can also start charging the other way when expecting or inducing a sideswitch, for example when doing a crossup attack starting from the left side you can already start holding 3/6/9 to have a charge ready by the time you land, you don't lose it like in SF games.
You can start the charge after a forward motion before your move even comes out because of the 3f input buffer.
Finally, hitstop and blockstop (the frames during which the game pauses when an attack lands to help players confirm what is happening) also count towards charge. The latter is what makes combos that at first seem impossible a reality (that and FAB's unwavering dedication).

As for the new outfit looking classier, she spent the last 7 years between GGX2 and GG2 living as a civilian for the first time in her life, considering she was on the run from literally any government organization for being an assassin and the assassins guild itself trying to kill her for treason (but mostly Zato's personal grudge, followed by Venom's envy personal grudge).

I actually like the new outfit better, but prefer the old blue and white color scheme.

Can I get some tips on microdashing? I can sometimes, rarely, get it to come out the first time and go into the second PK, but I can't do it after that. Generally the dash either doesn't come out at all, or it does come out, and the opponent recovers before I can hit

Basically the thing to know about Slayer is that unlike other characters like Sol, he is a complete monster. In mind, body, and spirit. His fascination with artistry, etiquette, and Dandyism stems from his fascination with humanity. All of this comes from the fact that he can't understand any of it.

He's from a different dimension entirely, but got interested in the world when he noticed the Crusades were going down. He's the one that gave Sol his alias because he ended up fighting him very early on and became intrigued that he might become stronger than him someday.

He decided to stay in the world while waiting for that when he found himself more and more interested in humans. Slayer still needed to drink blood to live, but he didn't want to hurt any undeserving humans solely because he wanted to see what happened to humanity next during the crusades. So that's why he started the Assassins Guild, as both a means to drink blood and as an experiment to understand human nature. Despite his desire to learn, he has no capacity to understand things like morality, grieving, dignity, and so on. As a result his leadership under the Assassins guild was pretty much letting the most fucked up people wishing to become assassins run around in an organized fashion doing whatever they wanted.

The Assassins Guild also started recruiting their ranks by kidnapping orphaned children, of which there was no short supply of due to the Crusades. This is how Millia, Zato, and Venom all became assassins. Zato's case was willingly even as a child, Millia didn't want to be an assassin but she showed natural talent for it so she wasn't allowed to leave. She even attempted suicide a couple of times to get out of it but was caught and put under watch each time. Venom actually sucked at being an assassin so they were going to kill him, but Zato disagreed and demanded that he have more time to train, an intervention that saved his life.

Slayer was complacent in all of this.

Justice was defined by Slayer and again he wasn't really capable of defining it in human terms, so human nature did what it does best and bent the rules and corrupted the already loosely defined moral.

Slayer can understand love because he can understand hate, two concepts that are only possible with each other, which has utility in destroying an enemy. As a result he was able to fall in love with Sharon when they met, and she has a condition like I-No and Raven where the backyard considers her as a living destructive force (or something similar, it's still pretty ambiguous) so her immortality can sate Slayer's need to drink blood. He then left the Assassins Guild to Zato and retired with his wife. He came to the conclusion that morality is important and it's what makes humans, human. He still can't define or understand it, but he understands that he can't understand. Think of him as an opposite MO to Hellsing's Alucard. He knows he's a monster, but unlike Alucard, he wants to act like he isn't' for a goal and rewards himself by being a monster against an equally monstrous opponent.

Zato was killed when Millia aided in his capture with Interpol in exchange for immunity for her involvement with the Guild. Zato and Millia's relationship was more for survival even though they'd never admit it when they were together. Both came from violent backgrounds due to being war orphans in the Crusades. Zato joined the guild willingly to be with and protect Millia, who didn't have a choice in her involvement.

Their relationship was actually toxic from both sides. But the last straw was when Millia (who already was forced to give up her ability to bear children for her forbidden art power) learned that Zato agreed to take on an assignment that involved murdering an infant child who was the King by birth of a small nation, so his younger, unborn sibling could be king when he was born (this is Lord Mining btw). Zato took the job and murdered the child without hesitation which, on top of everything else in her life, shook Millia to the core. Zato then tried to explain his action of infanticide as "protecting her, because we will be killed if we don't do what the guild says." This was Millia's breaking point and she ran away from the guild, which is considered an act of treason punishable by death. Zato's feelings for Millia soured and when he became the guild leader, he made it the guild's mission to hunt her down and kill her for entirely personal reasons.

Zato remembers everything when he was brought back from the dead, but due to the nature of his resurrection he can't feel anything about it or anything else. The only thing that can bring him any kind of emotional reaction is Millia, and even then it's a dull one. But still important to him, nevertheless. I doubt they'll ever get back together, but Zato is fine with just being at her side as a pawn/bodyguard as Millia is going to be the next leader of a legit guild.

Guts is the ultimate underdog, literally scraping and clawing for every breath he takes. His foes are VASTLY more powerful and influential then him. It does not look good.
Sol, on the other hand, is one of the most powerful and intelligent beings in the setting, has a ton of comparably exceptional allies, the world he lives in isn't nearly as shitty and the only real circumstance he had to un-JUSTing, death, has been overcome.
tl;dr: Sol is a more powerful and capable character in a lighter setting.

Leo's pressure becomes less scary when you can Just Guard it, something which is much more difficult to do with lag. Plus he has a special move which crosses you up, and while that move is normally easy to deal with and react to, he's guaranteed to get away with it consistently online.

Sin does high damage with very easy combos and his pressure is really hard to screw up. Lag doesn't affect him in a meaningful way.

Potemkin's tic throws are difficult to react to offline, online they're almost impossible. Couple that with the fact that, in an environment with heavy lag, Potemkin has very short combos that have less of a chance of dropping but that still do a lot of damage and he's great in online situations.

I could go on. But you get the idea.

You did well I hope you keep practicing Axl. I have a thing where I never panic in GG but I tend to start feeling an extreme adrenaline rush the longer I play. This makes me want to do stupid and needlessly reckless plays just to keep the feeling going. For whatever reason I just couldn't stop approaching with a jump because of it.

It's one of those habits that's helped me more than hurt me in the long run, and from what I hear at locals it makes me difficult to read. It also just means I'm really easily goaded into doing something crazy out of nowhere.

Use 2K instead if she gets close. Throw is one of the stronger options against it, just beware of her canceling the kick into ryuujin (flying dragon kick) or gekirin (axe kick). Geki is an overhead and she can tag you while you're trying to poke low. The S puffball followup can be blocked and if she tries using the H as a frametrap afterwards, you can 2K poke and get a decent punish combo off of it. H Puffball followup is a mixup at a close enough range.
