I think getting good is just a matter of getting used to reading the battle flow and building a strategy that would the specific random battle that you're in.

Untrue, both tanks has gone on sale only once and both sold very well for the server's population numbers.

I actually appreciate the balancing attempts WG has made for these tanks.
For Edelweiss, it has an insane speed for a medium tank with that much armor but every stat other than speed is just ok.

For Nameless, I compared it to the one in Blitz, Blitz version has all around 8 deg gun depression and a solid chunk of an upper plate, PC version gets 5 deg gun depression frontally and only thick on the lowest part of the upper plate and gets thinner as it curves, it has the height of a german heavy but the gun depression of a russian heavy, the gun is real good but you're going to spend a lot of time positioning to get a good aim, it's so light and tall that it can't shoot down enemy hull at very close range and gets pushed around easily.

When I went to the Wargaming celebration in Boston a couple years ago, I'd say around half the people I talked to or overheard played the Xbox version. I was also surprised that there were a large number of Warships players who had never played WoT.

Last time people on a non-game forum I'm on talked about tonks I'd say maybe a third of them played console.

I kind of understand their logic for not wanting to change randoms battles.
Since you're never really know what kind of player you end up with or end up fighting against, no two games can be played the same way, you'd have to make different plans for every random battle you're in.

Still though, they could've just made something like ranked battles but with pretty much the same rewards as random battles for people who want something less random, maybe a ladder rank system where at the end of the week or month the highest ranked players gets gold or something, people who want to be more competitive can just do that instead of randoms.

An elo-like system based on win ratio would only look at the win ratio over a very large amount of battles which is a better indicator of the player's impact on his team. 200 battles at 50% win rate? welcome to rank 4. Next 200 at 52%, rank 3. and so on. That system would only allow the best players to the top because there wouldn't be that stupid system giving points to retards in winning teams and to damage farmers on losing teams. Teams would be motivated to win above all and the incremental requirements at every rank would mean that players have to win against better opponents at an increased rate to progress. This is of course assuming that win rate over a large amount of battles is a good indicator of how a players impacts his team, positively or not

Maybe 200 battles per rank is not enough, but even with that sample seasons would have to last longer than a week.

Yea there's no way around it, you definitely have to play through some shit before you get the Chieftain but it is worth it for sure. Once you get past the suffering that is the Black Prince and stock Caernarvon, the line really gets going.


A fully uprgraded Caern can be a monster in the right hands and the same thing goes for the Conqueror. The worst thing honestly is that the Black Prince probably has a stronger hull than the Chieftain

The gun depression is certainly a bitch in the O-Ho, but the relatively fast reload on the derp makes it a formidable tank from my experience. The high mounted gun and good gun depression to the sides allow for some interesting tactics. I didn't rely at the armor at all in the O-Ho whereas in the Type 5 you just have to since it's so slow. The top gun is okay. Bullied a IS-7 into submission with it in close combat, but the tank still doesn't feel like a real upgrade when RNG determines completely how good your match will be. It takes four minutes to reach the peak of the big hill on Westfield in the Type 4. The match has already been decided by then. In another match a single, isolated JPE100 just basecamped on Sandriver and kindly showed me the way back to the garage after two shots, because our LTTB was too much of a pussy to rush him and farm easy 2200 damage.
Yeah on that Chieftain grind. I got the Type B barrel on the Caern and it's quite fun with it. Very good gun handling. I should just bite the bullet and powergrind that bitch another weekend or so, but the premise of a stock tier 9 heavy tank with no armor, mobility and sub 240 alpha just wrecks all my motivation for it.

I also got all the upgrades for the 110 and holy balls. That thing is amazing. Good frontal armor, strong turret, good gun handling with decent alpha, reload and pen on standard grenades and nice mobilty. I'll probably finish that line before the Chieftain.

I imagine that problem only gets worse the further you go up the line because that was the worst thing about the Shithills. Also 110 is weird I think, one of my buddies had one and hated it because it's made of matchsticks and lighter fluid. I remember one night where he got set on fire 4 games in a row, and even twice in a few a matches.


Some people hate slow tanks, but my pet peeve is tanks that catch a fire a lot. Which is kinda why I'm only at tier 5 on the Chink line.

Tier V (and VI to a certain extent) is still okay for new players imo, soviet anything tends to be okay because WG likes them, that said I don't know how the A-20 and T-80 are,started the meds via the KV-13 and then A-44.
Burgermeds are not bad, through the M3 Lee (not that great), M4 (fun af because of the derp) and than the E2 so you can unlock the meds as well as heavies if you so desire.
Cromwell is also a fun tank and useful for Tier 6 SH (same goes for T-150 and KV-2).
