previous ded: >>186383284

The thread is dedicated to all games about building machines and systems out of blocks, in space or otherwise. Also, all these games are ded. Only ded games may join, otherwise they must have their own thread.
Whether or not a game belongs in /egg/ is a case by case matter, however games that would belong in /svgg/, space voxel games general, are automatically considered /egg/

WebM for physicians:
>gitgud.io/nixx/WebMConverter.git

List of currently known and vaguely not dead /egg/ games (this list is not fully inclusive and if you think a game might belong here, feel free to ask):
>Algodoo
>Avorion
>Besiege
>Chode - Children of a Dead Earth
>Crossout
>Empyrion - Galactic Survival
>Factorio
>From the Depths
>GearBlocks
>Garry's mod
>Homebrew - Vehicle Sandbox

>Machinecraft
>REM
>Robocraft
>Robot Arena
>Scrap Mechanic
>SHENZEN I/O
>Space Engineers
>SpaceChem
>StarMaden b
>Skywanderers

Games that are definitely not /egg/:
>Minecraft
>The general that quite literally cannot be named.. The Mexican scam artist one. With the shitposters. Fuck off.
>underageb& who won't use the search function and also won't read where are they posting

Information about these games, such as where to get them if they're not on steam, trailers, /egg/ conquered/hosted servers, and other shit can be found in this pad:

took me a while but finally killed this speedy little bastard from the Glao campaign.

Experimenting around I found that the aimpoint in FTD seems to be retarded against fast vehicles. Suspect it's the typical issues Unity engine has (useful that I've worked on games in this before) like calls to position lagging in time. So set up a Lua code which knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The Lua code uses deviations to generate a corrective commands to drive the aimpoint from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn't, and that this bastard in the Glao campaign is now dead.
>>
>>186690123
Mapsizes are about right

But fuck the map where it's easier to drive to the enemy team's startpoint than that long fucking route to the point where each team has the chance to jump in to the middle early except one team's jump is harder and the other team's jump is more dangerous

Get the fuck out you filthy physician.

Besides, you can't get pegged by ransomware because you're already using one.
Micropenis can and will eventually put a full scale remote control so they can shut your system down whenever they feel like it. No, although it's already there, the updates don't count.

When Win7 will inevitably become completely obsolete, more than XP is now, I'm switching to loonix. I don't fucking care anymore, most of the shit is either multiplatform already, doesn't worth it, or there are alternatives, even if coded worse and have less functions.

Both these designs are shit though. I watch videos of them and they look like they can barely move.

What are they even going to do in this "fight"? Drive around shooting targets? Pick things up and put them into bins?

Or are they going to have an actual fight and throw them into a ring and see who the first one to stop moving is?

I mean, it SHOULD be a bare knuckle robot fist fight, that's the only way to truly test your giant robot making. Because if your using some sort of gun, then you might as well be fighting tanks.

The USA one was invented as some future sport with eventually biped robots shooting paint at eachother. It was kickstarted and made by a team that collectively looks like John C. Reilly.
Kuratas is advertised as a fancy mech pilot dream come true ride that would become mas produced in the future. It was cobbled by a japanese dude on his freetime only gaining mechanical knowledge as he needed it.

USA appeared boasting how they were the first ones to do a robot, then poked at the Kuratas when they realized they were wrong. Kuratas (the last name of the dude building it) accepted and proposed melee too.
The last update posted by Kuratas was a colored gun that shoots smoke rings. Neither can move fast or act fast. And they won't want to end with serious injuries. Both are prototypes, being adjusted since the first version. I'm personally not getting hyped for this, only midly interested. It's a weak step but it's a step.

/egg/men got cucked by some prick abusing tracking glitch after swallowing some bait
most people quit there and then, including glorious leader
surviving /egg/men opened up a successfull mining business on the most populated server
the company broke up after /egg/men were unable to decide what to do with the profits
most people wanted to diversify into space piracy racket
options discussed were designing our own flagship (after much drama didn't go anywhere), building a fleet of zerg, and selling all the mining materials we were stitting on (which was A TON) on the player market for credits and buying ships from big boys
In the end the thruth of the matter was the game is shit, the people playing it are shit and so is /egg/, and nobody wanted to face up to that last bit

In theory it shouldn't be hard, right? It just needs a way to identify numbers and check if you've disconnected then you're golden.
I've been thinking about it, but I'm not really a codefag, though literally all you need to do is an automated 'every ten seconds click here, click here, click here, enter this, click here.' and the only issue is 'read this number. Is this number below this number? In such a case, do nothing. If the number is above this number, reduce the number by .01 and click sell.'
It wouldn't be very intelligent but it'd help you with the 20 item buy / sell limit and it'd be great for undercutting people.
>>
>>186763356
Even if you made a perfect bot, dominated the market for 0 effort and had effectively infinite money and items... so what?

You're still playing the same mediocre game, just with slightly blingier items attached. It doesn't fundamentally change anything. You just have some higher damage values- a golden turd instead of a turd. It still stinks.

If you press q on a piece of the detection system you should be able to fuck with the parameters that the system uses to predict the enemies location, making it more accurate against certain types of vehicle.

ekranoplans can't fly over waves all that well, which means they suck on open ocean

Yes, submarines can detect them, but subs have practically no way of shooting at them

Prop-driven patrol aircraft can alo be heard under the right conditions, but unlike what various books and movies tell you a plane hunting a sub is an excercise in futility, because it is extremely unlikely for the plane to actually find the sub while the sub can just hope that the plane does not get a MAD reading.

The system can be built with a few rules:
>Initially, the system contains only a Mothership and a Drone (gen 1)
>Drone contacts mothership, obtains a unique ID. The mothership produces mining tools, and the drone harvests materials, transfers them to the mothership for refining, then collects them to produce more drones.
>After this point, the Gen 1 drone breaks down its mining tools and attaches to the mothership, allowing the more expendable Gen 2 drones do the dirty work.

>The mothership assigns each drone an ID, then queues up production of specialized tool rigs for drones as the population grows. Gen 2 drones reproduce once income reaches a certain point.

>Gen 3 repeats this process.

>Gen 4, the least valuable generation, is mainly given high-risk roles such as combat. At this point, gen 2-3 combat drones scrap their combat rigs and convert into comm relays or neo-motherships, expanding the hive's reach.

>If the population reaches a high enough point, resources in an area drop too low, or contact with the mothership is lost for an extended period, the drones will attempt to work out which ship has the highest priority/oldest generation, and they convert this ship into a new mothership, which is launched into a distant region of space. Gen 3-4 drones are scrapped to provide materials for this conversion.

>As stated before, the mothership determines how to specialize each drone based off of population and current needs. These roles can include:
>Mining, hauling, communications, construction, scrapping, scouting, combat, refining/production
>>

what programs are still needed to create this unstoppable drone invasion
>>
>>186813796
Mothership needs scripts with these functions:
>Communications handler
>Component production
>General logistics
>Some kind of ID system to determine which drones are which, and which tool rigs to print
>Tool production handler, mostly just turns on projectors and shits out a rig
>Power optimization
>Navigation

Drones, however, only really need these functions on the base chassis:
>Communications handler
>Order interpreter
>Navigation
>Reproduction

Each tool rig should have scripts defining what role that rig fills (so the welding rig has the scripts for welder drone, instead of wasting resources putting them on every drone)

Each ship needs an antenna, some projectors, and some thrusters. And probably a few merge blocks for adhering on tool rigs and reproduction.

I have something like this in mind:

Stage 0: Construction
human-built factory produces the hive seed
seed is launched into space

Stage 1: Seeding
seed comes across a dense resource cluster
analyzes the composition and approximate amount of materials
if deemed acceptable decides - settles there, otherwise looks for better spot

Stage 2: Initial deployment
hive seed uses internal resources to produces gathering drones
drones gather resources in immediate vicinity
if enough resources are gathered the soon-to-be hive progresses to the next stage

Stage 3: Establishing hive
drones are reabsorbed and seed produces several "queens"
long-range comms and the hive "brain" are activated on the seed
queens produce gathering drones and start accumulating resources
excess resources are dumped in storage drones
once queen has enough resources her "home" progresses to next stage
>>
>>186822586
Stage 4: Hive expansion
queen produce scouts that patrol and scan the area around the resource cluster
hive seed activates the tactical module
if none are around, light and heavy combat drones are created, along with some scavenger drones, they are organized into squads
if any intruders are spotted, depending on size and composition, squads are sent to deal with them
reactors and solars are primary targets, weapons being secondary, trusters and gyros being tertiary
said components are not destroyed but merely disabled, any players are shot on sight
immobilized target is then torn apart by scavs, who dump components into queens that break them down to raw mats
resource cluster is then gradually mined until nothing but empty rock remains
once local resources are exhausted hive progresses to the next stage

Stage 5: Exodus
all queens, gathering drones and scouts are reabsorbed
combat drone and scavs are reassigned directly to the seed, squads are preserved
all excess resources dumped into storage drones
if certain threshold is reached, excess resources are sent back to the human base
hive module is deactivated, tactical module remains active as long as there are combat drones around
seed reverts back to Stage 1 and leaves with escort in search of a new resource cluster
>>
>>186820385

I got the game 4 days ago and I've been sweating it.

After the initial boost of parts and rewards it started to feel a bit grindy until I hit 10 with engineers. The daily missions and season quests are pretty cool incentives. I'm 13 now with nomads and scav at 3. I'm early I know, but it feels like I'm unlocking shit all the time, and the only paywall (workbench) is dirt cheap.

Unworthy
This game isn't even fully loved in this general because the little amount of building compared to the market playing. Construction is basic, weapon placement is unvariable, strategy is ephemeral. Most talk about it here is how bullshit some weapons are and how it affects the prices.

No matter how brainless something is, you can always optimize a build to ridiculous extents. It's like sports - the base rules are just 'kick the ball' but things get so much more complicated if you really get in there.

Of course, the engineering then tends to be more of a trial and error and theorycraft using known mechanics rather than 'I want to build a lift for my spess station'. And also crossout is doing a lot of things Robocraft should have done (weapons with limited firing angles makes their placement more important, for example), even if everything's still not as engineering as we'd like in the end, but these arena games aren't very compatible with too much engineering.

Do more tires in cuckout make me go faster, or do they solely increase grip and add spares for losing in combat?

I noticed engines can "accelerate a vehicle to [...] speed", but what exactly does that mean? Do I get a flat speed increase? Will a fast lunatic engine make the THIC scavenger chassis faster for example?

>>
>>186866257
I've never really seen a 'speed increase', though sometimes it does feel like there may be a difference.

The main hidden stat of wheels is their grip and how they handle different terrain and their actual size (studded wheels are ever so slightly smaller than the next smallest wheel) and such.
>>
>>186866257
>>186866595
Oh, also, engines don't appear to increase speed at all. They increase your acceleration and will increase your speed if you have too much weight, but it doesn't seem they really add much speed. Any speed increase is likely due to increasing vehicle mass limit and/or maybe tonnage. I'd need to double check all that, though.
>>
>>186866257
each cabin has a top speed they can do which engines can either help accelerate to or lower the top speed if the engine speed of the engine doesn't exceed the top speed of the cabin

only exception being light engine which is made of wizardry

more tires, more grip. but more weight, slower.
yes, spares in combat.
max speed = lower limit of cabin/engine/(tracks)
acceleration = depends on weight

Actually, just basic physics and fucking reading the item descriptions.
>>
>>186866257
More tires make you go slower.
For the engines, it means loosely what kind of purpose it serves. If the vehicle is on the within the weight limit that the engine can handle, it will accelerate from zero to low, medium or fast with ease.

I have a simple mod idea for spengies that would improve spengies gameplay a bit.
Plates that split up itemized rock in to ore, the faster the rock hits them the more ores you get.
If normal itemized ore hits it you'll get more ore and sometimes other ores associated with it.
Plate processed ores can not be processed by plates again

Nu ftd update. v.2.0.2

-New textures for the baloon switch, the drive maintainer, stategic antenna dishes.
-New textures for wooden blocks? I get that impression, i'm not 100% sure of it.
-Weapon exhaust effects are now stationary and don't follow the barrel movements anymore

I don't know, ever considered clicking that 'season' tab?
Perhaps it's wrong to call it 'free', but it's practically free since you can do it with daily fuel alongside daily missions and other things you want to do.

>General tips
Make your radiation shields out of 1cm Lithium or Lithium 6, it's incredibly light and pretty cheap. Strip every inch of shielding off your nuclear rockets and nuclear reactors because the Lithium radiation shields will be lighter and preform the same function.

If you're doing it right things should generally cost a lot less than the stock designs, my Corvette class ship costs only a little more than 12Mc, while the stock one costs 91Mc. Your conventional gun and railgun weapons should easily be able to outstrip those in the stock game, I've got a railgun that throws a 5g slug out at 18km/s. To save weight and money make your crew modules of Calcium, it isn't very strong but if something has penetrated your armor to hit the modules you're probably screwed anyways, better to design better armor.

Chode, but every time you design a mechanical component there is a session of Algodoo in 3D meets Solidworks and every time you make a electronic component it opens up MHRD and then when you need to make something more complex out of that stuff it boots up Shenzen IO but it's more complex and every time you need to program something it opens up a C editor.
Also it has tonks and extremely detailed resource harvesting and refining mechanics (ie: go and make the whole industry needed to make the chemical feedstock for that particular reaction so to increase your iron production by 30% annually).
And tonks, and sphess, and sphess tonks and tonks sphess.
It also must support multiplayer.

I don't care if i have to convert half a galaxy into computronium to run it, just do it.

All Chode needs is more going on visually (some detail for parts, even if it's just greeblies) and a spacewalk mode like Spengies so you can move around your own ship's hull or walk around inside of it. Build your astronaut a new jetpack and build a sidearm for him. Combine that with multiplayer and a simplified version of Space Engine style blanad making so servers can have their own custom blinids and moons. If it had an economy and faction system it could practically be Expanse: The Game.

was it just me or were the season missions really fuel demanding this time round? Usually I fail a few hard ones but still finish all 3 sets with a couple days to spare without needing to spend fuel, but this time around I had to spend 1500 or so fuel and I still haven't completed medium which is basically all raids. I did get hit by a LOT of 3 man teams and low PS retards at the beginning of the season which hurt, but I don't think it was nearly enough to cause this.

I don't know, what's your guys's opinions on it? Also if it isn't just me, do you think it's intentional/will keep happening in an attempt to drain resources?

That's easy. You put 3 dimensional factorio-like elements into ftd and go full link related. Maybe include the mining and refining aspects turing raw materials into casings propellant, projectiles, fuel etc for the battlebotes, subs, airships, possibly huge tonks. The shells don't magically appear or teleport themselves into the firing chambers you have to factorio them there. Maybe have basic systems where crew handle everything manually by default like they did in irl tonks and botes.

But if perfect function is also perfect form, would it not imply that if is it is functionally perfect it is also cosmetically perfect making aesthetics intrinsic to function and the argument against their general irrelevancy fundamentally wrong?

Granted, superfluous solar panels would be objectively ugly by this definition, but still.

I think there's a limit to how much shit you get, I got the first three in under an hour with a 50% chance, then no more. I've searched on the spengos forum and it says something like 3/48h, so there's no reason to increase the spawn rate. Supposedly MP has higher rarity crates.
Makes me wonder why the fuck the little shits keep spawning and littering up the place if you don't even get any shit from them.
Honestly I think it would be better with a random encounter style, a crate every half an hour or something, and higher risk places get higher rarity loot.

Someone on the forums made a suggestion about an 'astrology/space themed faction' with a bunch of models for possible parts. They've obviously taken / might take liberties to scrap the shit parts of the idea (Some of the flavour and also some of the suggested parts don't feel like they'd add anything new).
However, if we suppose they do add similar items, we'd get:
>New cabin
>New autocannon
>New wheel
>New drone
>New.. Car jack?
>Beam cannon
>New epic wheel
>New epic booster
>New epic melee weapon
>New epic beam cannon
>New scope
>New shields module
>New legendary autocannon
>New legendary special cannon

However, again, I hope they've taken the liberties to say 'no, fuck you' to a lot of those ideas and done stuff like add an epic cabin in if they have any level of sanity.

They're also likely to add back in the legendary generator that gives 4 energy again as it's space-themed.

To be fair, three crossbows suck. Everybody gets massively improved armour, so two crossbows is way more fun because you can get at a lower powerscore.

Three crossbows is great for raids/brawls and you can at least disarm people rapidly.

One time I lost two crossbows to an AT wasp and shot a single crossbow bolt at a line of three AT wasps and it took all three out.

In theory their price will only increase because they won't get released proper.

Container prices are probably going down in anticipation that some of the new weapons might be released with some technology weapons being moved over to the new faction.

If you get a group of 4 people, you could have an absolute blast if each of you have two crossbows. Send the entire enemy team to the moon.

The autocannon-armed AA vehicles were all meant to stay with the MBTs and cover them against attack helos.
The 35mm gun also had an AP round that was meant to shred BMPs.

You have to remember that NATO was planning for the case '20,000 T-64s and T-72 and T-80s plus 40,000 BMPs decide to go to Paris'.
That meant that everything had to have the capability to kill a T-64 or BMP.

It seems the general trend for these items is that there's a big price spike / fall right after their release.

The spike-1's price as it came in started out ridiculously high, but then hit rock-bottom as everybody pretty much said 'Yeah, fuck buying expensive things on the first day' and people aren't sure of prices.
The containers did this too. After the event, their price rocketed up to about 270 immediately as people probably thought it was a better time to buy them (And nobody thought it was a good time to sell them) than later and the price would only increase and people were still seeking the container items, before falling back down to where it is today.

You're going to be waiting quite a while, because everybody caught the same idea of saving up containers and many are probably seeing the price and thinking 'I'm not selling it yet'.
>>
>>187003918

I dont mind sitting it out and waiting. iM very patient. And if the price on them ever tanks super low Ill either buy everyone elses, or open all of mine and see if I get anything good.

I regret selling my hundreds of DIY crates for pennies. They go for 14 gold now or something stupid high.
>>
>>187003227
You may wait quite a long time.
Are you playing in the meantime?
Or have you sold everything?
>>
>>187004439

>playing in the meantime
Yes.

>sold everything
Sold almost everything I had, had like 10,000 gold, and bought 65 steel cavalry crates. I sold 10 when the price peaked at around 270 and bought back a bunch of my favorite stuff with the sweet sweet profits. Now Im just playing like normal and gathering rescources, and my 55 crates can sit there for eternity until I want to sell them.
>>
>>187004430
Even if I wanted to capitalize on DIY crates, I could only stock about 100 of them, I'd tank the price selling them and I'd only ultimately make about 1000 gold like that.

It's better to give up on your crates and profit on the next big thing, but that requires more effort.
>>
>>187004430
>>187004920
Oh, also, the price of containers will shoot down for sure if they release the parts for regular crafting, which they might do for the new faction. Say, they might hand out the goblin shotgun and that sort of thing to the lunatics and then transfer something such as the hermes booster to the new faction. In any case, their value might not last in the long-term given unlike DIY crates people have actually saved them up.

Im also the same jew sitting on 10 TOW missiles. People really really hate the changes to them, and I fully expect the devs to make them better soon, and their price will jump back up to the 400+ range.

But who knows. Maybe my crates and TOWs will be totally worthless, and Ive just wasted all my savings, and will never profit off them.
>>
>>186961089
This mostly. Though really I think crew is a super important thing for ship, plane and tank building, so I'd have them be kinda important.

Have em be little ant-farm like fuckers divided between "Troops" "Crew" "Gunners", the first only existing to attack other unlucky fuckers if they're boarding or being boarded, the second operating non-automatic systems like loading, engines, etc and the latter being pretty self explanatory.

Of course simulating them all would be a pain in the ass, so I'd just have them spawn from specific designed rooms and run about corridors (because "walkable" designs shouldn't be optional) whenever a system calls for them. That way you have a least a little logistics going if your crew, gunners or troops are killed by enemy fire.

Of course in little designs you can probably get by with minimal crew and gunners, but you'd need to build quarters or extra seats for them if you want to have spares.

Tell me why the Carapace cabin sells for about 800.
The stats are shit:
- blue, higher structure and mass limit than Jawbreaker, but much slower (about 4 2/3 max speed, compared to almost 6 of the Jawbreaker)
- even slower that the Humpback... (max speed is 5)
Is it just a collectors item?
>>
>>187006869

You can only get it by purchasing the most expensive car pack in the game. Theres no other way to earn it, so the plays that bought the pack and sell it on the market keep it at a high price.

Same with alot of the other truck cab variants that come only in packs you have ot buy. They sell for afew hundred gold instead of 50 gold like the ones you can make in game.

>It's 750 powerscore less than the humpback and its stats aren't much lower.
But it only makes sense with armored tracks.
>>
>>187007835
Well, yes. The deal is that if you're hitting the weight limit you're probably overinflating your power score, which means you probably don't care quite as much about using the humpback.
So I guess it goes with the tracks. Still, doesn't hurt to shave 750 powerscore off of your heavy-weight vehicle if you somehow don't need the extra 1 energy..

Otherwise the carapace is pretty nice looking I guess and one of the most distinctive cabins.

Indieshitter here also. I've been refining my "My Summer Car with a Descent hovership in the Blame! universe" concept.

>You're a village hobo who buys a """project""" hovership off a trader. The turbine is intact but all the electronics and plumbing are missing.
>It's similar in layout to the Harrier's Pegasus engine, but with 3-axis (pitch, roll, exit area) nozzles instead of chain link.
>You get to plumb the engine yourself, populating the accessory geartrain and plumbing a simplified-but-versatile dry-sump oil system.
>You can use a bench-top power supply to force the starter-generator to turn over, use logic testers to force the igniter on, and other kinds of reverse engineering.
>Little-by-little, you probe at the intricacies of this machine until you finally achieve ignition.

>...

>Some 4 hours of CLANG later, you've tethered the turbine to the workshop floor and hooked up the flight controller you've just made to the nozzle servos.
>After seeing it hover, you can start laying out the real cockpit controls. The thing has a Homebrew-style internal logic, so you could potential hook up the ignition, fuel and starter to different buttons.
>With a cockpit full of blinkenlights and anime figures, and cargo hold full of potato, it's finally time to say "bye bye" to this village and "hello" to claustrophobic 3D environments.
>Occasionally break down in the middle of nowhere and have to buy spare parts off of space gopniks who want to kill you.

I want an engineering game set in a Victorian opium dream vision of the solar system and interplanetary travel. The twist is that in every game, the physics system gets randomized in the spirit of aether theory, with fundamental technologies and their associated engineering tradeoffs changing to an arbitrary -- but consistent -- arrangement such that interplanetary travel is possible.

The game proceeds FTL / Oregon Trail / Death Road to Canada style through semi-scripted events, and the theoretical goal and motivation of the player is that he's a petty captain in the Imperial Navy and must pick the Imperial Bigwig offa Pluto and hump his royal ass back to the Imperial Seat in London (of course). Engineering comes into play in designing the ship's particulars to match the conditions of the space around it (hideous monsters and stellar wolves appearing outside the well-kept space-lanes), the mood and composition of the crew (Pirates! style), and the ever-shifting political situation of the Empire (since the roundtrip is supposed to take up to two years).

What I want is easy, but also likely impossible to combine in one game:
Scripting possibilities like in Spengies, an alternative to limit freedom/autism could be programming existing ship systems with a limited language like in TIS or Shenzen IO.
Completely destructible environment and planets, rotors, pistons, ... (e.g. Spengies, but real water)
Center of mass and thrust should matter, also engine isp, orbital mechanics (newtonian for short distances), thermodynamics, atmospheres, lift, drag, maneuver planning, custom cockpits, relative speed indicators, pro/retro markers, ... (see the game that quite literally cannot be named, also watch The Expanse)
Advandced engineering autism like in CHODE
SI units
GAS mechanics (see SS13)
Ship crews, stations, subsystems, energy management (FTL minus too much RNG)
Space stations, NPC factions, ressources and trade items (Privateer, X3, Avorion, E:D)
Basic relations and politics, persistent universe, tech tree (Stellaris, CIV)
Huge tech tree (Space Empires V)
NPC AI autism, rioting ship crews, insane ship crews (Rimworld)
Big ship building like Starmade, Avorion,
plus ship interior like i Spengies,
and as said ship mechanics, systems are essential, like in FTL/Spengies.
Medical system, drugs, mental states, cyborgs, bionic parts, both for the player avatar and NPC's (System Shock 2, Deus Ex, Rimworld, SS13)
Switching between nano-, micro-, makro-, and Examanagement (system autism like CHODE with programming to Empire ruling like Stellaris /CIV, Dorf Fort). Also see Avorion: Zoomed in: 3rd person, zoomed out: RTS iso view for future fleet management.
If someone does not want to micro/macro something it should run simplified by the AI. If you do custom stuff, it should get benifits, buffs.

I know, I know. But a man can still dream?

I've bought and sold two at a loss each time. Thinking about repurchasing once again (can't seem to stick to any one build).

Carapace has great health (best in blue), large flat sides for good-looking armor placement, some smaller spots to put (read: hide) weapons/smaller armor blocks on the front, a nice base for heavy weapons on the top, it's heavy so it resists being pushed around, dat horn (honk honk), it's long enough and wide enough to completely bury your explosive parts underneath the cabin (inside the frame), and ties (pretty sure, cbf to check) for best-in-tier energy. The other anon already mentioned the lower PS which is helpful for keeping out of the lofty PS pvp games.

It's a tank, Anon. It does tank things.
At medium-lower power scores it wrecks.

First build was an skirmisher with the Whirlwind/TOW meme (spawn camping and surprise tow; pretty fun, but mean). Second build was a support/brawler with 4x Defender spam (OP af MVP machine but kinda monotonous).

I think it'd be some kind of a newbie-friendly space where the forces governing space travel end up laid out so that while space wouldn't be a racetrack or a network of wormholes / jumpgates, there'd be more random encounters than Chode-style burn planning and waiting for weeks on end. Gameplaywise, space travel will be compressed as leaps between events following choices made by the captain; so, not unlike "Pirates!" and Sunless Sea, but narrative-heavy and Oregon Trail style quasi-railroading.

It could have a free-running clock, but in general the player wouldn't care about the petty crew squabbles and other Dwarf Fortress tier stuff. Since there's outer space horrors, whatever caused those horrors, etc, involved, I'm considering some kind of a model for subjective time as impacted by hallucinations, laudanum, futuristic ultra-laudanum, and so forth.

Single player only. If the world comes into its own, maybe someone will do a multiplayer. But it's in the planning stages, I've not got even the first scrap of concept art. Trying to come up with a reasonable design that's implementable by one guy, without pushing release schedule into the twenties...

... on the other hand, my /egg/ soul demands the ability to design various parts of the ship and/or fleet so that e.g. when the RNG says there's an aetheric repulsive Bergqvistsen's force, there'll also be a Paraguyan night monkey whose tail balance organ evolved to exploit said force in harvesting Whattehfuck fruits from the jungle canopy; and this animal should be possible to wire up (Shenzen I/O block diagram style) into some kind of a crucial system on the ship, which ends up making space travel possible. Or permits exit of the Mars system, or helps detect and target otherwise invisible space beasts with indiscriminate cannon fire, or something.

Anyway. That'd take care of the bioclang.

I still run 3x Defender at 4k PS. It will never not be the good shit (until they righteously get nerfed). Only times I don't win/place first is when I'm totally abandoned by my team (which could be fixed by being more of a lemming) and/or when I overcommit to an attack and my slow ass can't make it back in time to stop them from capping. Even alone I'm worth about three-four enemy shitters.

Defenders have more health and more dps than Vectors at a cost of only facing forward. Most combat is done facing forward so it's almost at no cost. Only when I get reamed by a sneaky flanking Spitfire spammer (and I'm already engaged) do I truly lose a skirmish.

Disarm, switch target, and repeat. Defenders OP. (no) Nerf pls.

spacing

like

this

is

not

presentable

What you've effectively done is taken a wall of text and increased the line distance.
This does not make the post more presentable, it only takes up more space.
It's like a wall of text, except it now also gives off an air of feigned importance.

Spacing makes text more readable.
Spacing that seperates points, questions or statements from one another makes it easier to understand and process.

If you want to type like a 14 year old hyperactive faggot who has to be fast on the intewebs becaseu mom will be home in two hours, go right ahead. Maybe throw in a few emojis, I heard those save space by compressing several words into one.

But that has nothing to do with reddit or 'feigned importance'.

My point is not that properly used spacing is bad, but that redditspacing has nothing to do with it.
This is the very core of the issue, and it seems to go above the heads of those who defend it.

>>187019853
>Nobody posts like that except possibly phoneposters.
You can call it phonespacing for all that I care; it's bad either way.

As for examples, see:

Luckily, we're only dealing with small posts, and this thread specifically does not have any posts taken to the extremes.
I'd like to say you're right, but you're wrong and if you haven't seen it then you need to lurk moar.
I'm painfully aware that my final remark is a level below anectodal evidence

ive tried fins but i dont think they work

im not too familure with 4chan to be quite honest with you

So, frame parts share the same pool with cabins on cuckout? If so, why even use armor that allow your cabin to be killed independently?

I really hope I am missing something and getting everything wrong, because its fucking stupid.
>>
>>187028881
>So, frame parts share the same pool with cabins on cuckout?

I dont think so. People do that stupid "frame all the way around" thing as wheel protection. Itll soak a few stray shots that would have otherwise hit the wheels and blown wheels off.
>>
>>187028881
parts give the cabin extra hp, while having their own, so they do work as armor
>>

Frames have the best powerscore : structure ratio. It actually works very well for armouring your cabin. It protects against melee, it gives you supreme stability and it protects the wheels somewhat slightly. And protects against TOWs.

Seriously though, fuck it, I tried to make a forum post to suggest they lower the structure bonus to the cabin for frame blocks, but they still haven't approved the topic after several days.

Those two caucasus + frame vehicles are absolute cancer.

>>187029260
