i always get giddy hearing the voices of Mobius Squadron and realizing that all the pilots you flew with constantly in the game got reassigned to Mobius Squadron to support you one last time

>>186581529
Well I meant for you to abuse the physics for some stupid webm
Haven't booted up WT in ages
>>186581703
oh boy
I got a question.
Why do most of 50s to 60s planes had this chrome/mirror finition ? Something related to UVs and high altitude flights ? Or radiation ?
>>186581921
It's cheaper and lighter (paint has a surpirsing weight to it). That's about it, iirc. American airlines also had that bare steel finish for the same reasons.
>>186581762
>see through the entire fuselage
Lewd
>>186581826
What mode are you even playing usually?
>>186581921
What do you mean? Just the polished metal surface? Probably because paint is relatively heavy
>>186581921
Paint is actually quite heavy once you've done about 1,000sqft, An unpainted plane is several hundred pounds lighter.
A lot of planes were also painted in what's called 'anti-flash white'. The darker and object, the more light it absorbs. If you've ever put your hand on a black car in summer, you'll have experienced this firsthand. A whiter/lighter object reflects more light, meaning it doesn't warm up as much from say the sunlight. Or the flash of a nuclear weapon it just dropped.
>>186582163
im putting two clips together give me a moment comrad)))
>>186582132
>>186582163
>>186582242
Thanks I felt like it was something related to radiation, but didn't realize the paint could be heavy
>>186582304
While cosmic radiation is a concern for commercial, and I imagine military, pilots, it's not really that much of an issue, the doses are bigger than when you are on the ground but not dangerous. And I doubt it was a concern at all in the 50s/60s.
>>186582242
>the darker something is the more heat it takes in
This is pretty basic stuff they teach you at school. At least, I hope they do in America.

- Watched a group of nuggets die because the fatass CO was imcompetent as fuck and they somehow couldn't climb 5000 feet
- Watched Chopper die
- Falsely branded as a traitor and is officially dead in ODF records
- Watched his second home sunk

If you look at the picture of the MEr shown from behind, you can get a good idea of it. The
prominent screws with the nut you see sticking off are the sway bars. The actual attachment hooks are operated by cartridge actuation devices which use compressed gas to force the hooks open and push the weapon away from the aircraft.
>>186611136
Look at this picture here: >>186611373 with the bombs on the TRIPLE ejector rack.* The
prominent screws with the nut you see sticking off are the sway bars. The actual attachment hooks are operated by cartridge actuation devices which use compressed gas to force the hooks open and push the weapon away from the aircraft. There's also a solenoid operated gravity release I believe. Someone who actually handles ordnance would be able to explain it better.

Probably dead or taking on more mercenary contracts. Here is hoping they make an appearance (if even just a short one) in AC7.
>>186664273
Pixy more likely than not died in the battlefield trying to find his answer IMO.
Having Cipher make another appearance beyond small things like what AC6 did is extremely unlikely considering that he was supposed to represent the first incarnation of Razgriz.

Pixy once said about dragging his wounded body across the ground zero of the nuclear detonation. By the events of AC7 he should have either died or suffering from radiation sickness.

>>186668810
Have yet to 100% AC5 by dint of the plane unlock system being so fucking boring. I mean, I like that it provides an incentive to fly planes that you would normally ignore otherwise, and It would have been a better system if they hadn't made some of the kill gauges so tedious.
In comparison, shooting down all the aces in Zero is a cakewalk you can do bit by bit at your leisure, and rewards you with a little bit of nice extra fluff.
>>186669139
I think all the system from 5 really needs is the bars to fill up a bit quicker, IIRC they are really slow, other than that I don't really mind it

Personally, I think AC5's system would have better fit AC4 with its arcade style.
AC5 only had a few missions where you could maximize your gains whereas in AC4 mostly has missions with the "Destroy X points worth of enemies within X minutes" and would have made the grind much more bearable. Plus, AC4 is the most atmospheric title in the Holy Trilogy.

Information on the proposed AJ 35 strike fighter modification is scarce even in Swedish.
It's an idea from the 70s to get more service life out of the aging aircraft.
Upgrades include dog-toothed wings with a 1 meter lengthened wingspan and elevons, folding canards, extended rudder fin, more hardpoints and capability to carry RBS-15 anti-ship missiles.
The proposal fell out of favor when Gripen development began.

>>186744941Gripen is cutest

I always wondered what the news story would be like if someone from /aceg/ were on a flight that has to be escorted to an airport due to unruly passengers
>747 diverted due to irate, drunk passenger
>2 F-16 jets escort plane to nearest airport
>most passengers in panic
>flight attendants perplexed by that one passenger frantically waving at the escort jets, taking pictures, screaming "MY PLANEFU!!"
>drunk arrested for disorderly
>plane-addict passenger sent to local mental hospital
>>186745007
She's the cutest but like in a boring way.
Draken is an athletic tomboy who's a blast to be around.
Viggen is a chubby bookworm who rocks those curves with confidence.
Gripen is that cute brunette that you can't stop looking at but then you talk to her and she's so perfect that you almost lose interest.

Can the SEPECAT Jaguar actually carry up to four air-to-air missiles? So far I have only seen the picture of Jaguar carrying only two of them.
>>186750942
top mounted hardpoints are so cute.
>>186751578
And it seems the Jaguar is the only jet known for having them. This makes me wonder if those jets can carry missiles on top and underwing hardpoints at the same time.
>>186751995
The EE Lightning had top mounted hardpoints as well. At least, I've seen images of them with top mounted fuel pods.
>>186724480
Will try to do an edit later today
>>186752415
What was the benefit of having one engine on top of the other instead of side by side?
>>186753075
It's narrower, and that's probably about it.
>>186753075
It'd probably because be easier for an air intake like that to get air to both engines if they're in line like that, not side by side.
Zero felt very rushed and half-baked compared to 5 and I don't understand all the love. I think the music and live action memery is carrying it. There are really only two characters and one of them fucks off half way through while the other is like a boring version of Grimm. It blows it's load early with the cool laser super weapon and then gives you an inferior Arkbird fight and yet another death star like sequence. The game is too short for Pixy turning heel to have any real impact. Same goes for earning your title as Demon of the Round Table. Earning the Razgriz name in 5 felt much more organic and we'll earned. You're almost never forced to adapt in game. It's very rare for suprise reinforcements to occur in Zero and it even let's you select if you'd like to do an air or ground mission sometimes.

>>186754891
>arguments in Zero's favor
The Morgan is one of the sexiest superplanes to come out of the series
>>186754414
Pixy's fight is meant to be the star of the show, a literal jousting match with airplanes, fitting of the knightly theme of the game. Maybe his heel turn felt sudden, but he never really seemed too connected to you to start with. He was always pretty aloof. There's at least one bit of foreshadowing leading up to it that hints that he's been putting it off and then hoffnung seals the deal that he needs to reset everything - at least, that's what I remember, I could be wrong.
For me, 0 felt more personal than the other games. In 4, it felt like I was less than the protagonist, like I was the outright villain given the whole thing being told from the other side's perspective. 5 was fun and great but it felt like it was a story about the team and the other characters and I was just a hollow shell.
Zero gives you some agency in how you interact with the world, and how you behave changes who you fight and how they view you. I really enjoyed that. It really made me feel like I was actually invested in the story, like what I did mattered, even if only a little.
It's not much, but it's one of my favorite features of that game.
>>186754891
We all agree PJ is just a little bitch. Pixys betrayal is built up after the un-restricted bombing of a belkan city, almost reminiscent of what the 8492 would later do attacking that engineering school, trying to bring light of oseas past warcrime. Pixy saw that what osea did then was wrong and immediately had a hard time on deciding what to do. He was your wingman, so much together after liberating and saving the capitol of Ustio and that city being near-perfect condition which conflicts with osea being ultra destructive, and also destroying a belkan super weapon and as he also respected your strength not minding that you had the nickname and legend status because hes your buddy. After the nukes he had to make a split second choice once wizard contacted him. It was rather keep fighting a country that had just nuked itself and is now extremely desperate, or abandon his buddy and try to stop both sides and prevent war by basically pulling an Hearts of Iron 4 full germany world run. Both emotionally pulling on the guy.

>>186755692
I'll concede that plane jousting was pretty sweet. I personally prefer the player agency allowed in AC3 to Zero and how it climaxes by turning the notion of agency on its head with its GITS/proto-MGS2 finale.
>>186758529
and what does this do?
>>186758814
Two things I can think of
1. it acts as an intake
2. it sucks air in, which in turn sucks the air above air towards the wing, which keeps the airflow attached to the wing longer
I suspect it's the latter because the title is laminar air flow
>>186758814
Gets rid of drag by sucking in air through thousands of tiny holes bored into the wing surface.

How can I make this look a bit more menacing and sleek?
The area behind the rear elevators is unfinished as I haven't modeled the engines. I was going to give it sort of an F-22 ass.
I'm looking for advice on how to improve the overall silhouette. It should preserve the F-5 nose and sort of "Yukikaze it up." I need to go over the top since just adding two vertical stabilizers makes it a Saeqeh.
>>186760961
I just hope it wasn't someone I know
>>186761414
>it's so stealthy there isn't even an image
>>186761414
Forgot image.
Also note that the back end of the wings aren't really detailed either.
>>186761536
There's also a stabilizer underneath but that'd probably get cut because it doesn't make sense (how would it land?).
>>186761536
Enlarge the two rear vertical stabilizers, they seem sort of puny when compared to the large wings and stabilators. I'd also probably give it more of a diamond shape, and the canopy one piece.
>>186761638
How big is it? If you want, you can just make it smaller, or move/angle them to the sides more.
>>186761638
Brain pls
>>186761536
Well if you want it sleeker the best way would be to make it larger while keeping the cockpit the same size. As is it protrudes quite a bit, which makes it look like it's front heavy and like it has a bit of a hump. Perhaps make the engine(s) bigger too like on the F20 so that the hump isn't as dominant
You could also do YF23 elevators if you want to change the stabs without going for a single one like on the F5
>>186761536
Streamline the canopy
Add chines
Replace the yf-22 hanging tails
Maybe lengthen the body a bit
>>186761414
>>186761708
ditch stablizer, make it blockier
make it longer and move the cockpit forward for a start
high mounted wings make planes look more intimidating
>>186761746
You can have it fold backwards, forwards or even sideway for landing.
>>186761830
>chines
I'm only an amateur plane fan but I'm not sure what those are, and google isn't helping either.
>Replace the Yf-22 hanging tails
With what?
YF-23 elevators like >>186761809 mentioned is an interesting idea but I was kinda going for something more avant-garde like pic related
>>186762114
>>186762114
>chines
The flat sides next to the cockpit/fuselage like on the SR71 and YF23I wouldn't add them as it'd kill the F5 duck nose
>>186762114
Here, I did a rough sketch, to help illustrate what I was saying in this >>186761708 post.I realize this just makes it look like a Raptor, but thats the issue with trying to balance realism and style ;_;
>>186762553
I like it, but I think I'd throw realism to the wind and just go for the cool factor over anything.

I don't understand why they had to split Sorcerer up into groups of two; made the fight almost trivial. Perhaps if they came at you all at once then it might beat Gault out as the hardest ace squadron, but it wasn't like that.

The EEL was designed as a point defense interceptor, so really its only job was to climb as fast as possible. Top mounted drop tanks combined with a curiously low mounted stabilizer meant that they could be jettisoned while the plane was climbing.

"Suddenly the telephone would ring and it would be one of the radar controllers from around the UK ordering you to scramble immediately. And so you would run to the aeroplane, jump in. They [Soviet aircraft] were just monitoring, listening, recording everything that went on. So you would get up alongside and normally they would wave, quite often there would be a little white face at every window. They knew we were there just to watch them. One I intercepted when he violated the airspace and I was trying to get him to land but it was scary. F-15C, but you can only carry what it can carry IRL; I.E. 4 aim-9s and 8 aim-120s with 800 rounds of cannon ammo.
The easy out is to use guns on everything because they're so overpowered, but that's the gist.

Since AC games tend to shift the perspective to distant view when the player crashes or gets shot down, then how will it look like in VR mode of AC7?

>>186778090
>eject when shot down
Oh fug that'd be cool.
>>186778090
Devil's advocate: when would the animation trigger? Would they have a program calculate the point of no return? Seems like a lot of effort, especially for a part of the game that already pushes the hardware and software. I bet PA is more invested in getting good VR gameplay.
>>186778090
Scratch that actually, forgot about the ejection in AC5 and Ass Horizon.
>>186778162
Instead of handling it realistically, which would probably be extremelly problematic and lead to frustrating premature ejections, the ejection triggers when the aircraft is shot down.
Would be unrealistic but wouldn't hurt the gameplay.

>>186778387

>>186778514
Yeah, i thought you were referring to ejections when crashing, too. That certainly makes sense though. Would be cool.

>During the development of the game, the mission was originally supposed to take place in a normal, clear-skies scenario. Nice, jelly. Only seen vampires here in Norway.
>>186794782
Pic related, some oc from earlier this summer.
>>186794782
There's one in the duxford museum, to be fair, there is a lot of shit in that museum. I didn't expect to see a B52, an SR71 or an He162 for that matter.
But yeah, same all we get here for old jets is Vamps/Venoms and Hunters, and one or two Mirage IIIs. Then again those are the only jets we had that aren't in service anymore. Gotta love the sound of the Vamp though.
>>186790879
>Get back to your seat, or else we will call two jets and send you the bill
Scary enough for me.
>>186795142
>>186795202
Speaking of OC, I took a bunch of pictures when I was there, sadly looking at them now they're often pretty shitty because phone camera limited time, but here's an SR71 regardless

I'm always reminded of that Sonic episode where Dr Robotnik locks the Moon in front of the Sun and offers to the world lights emmiting subliminal messages for his world domination. Truly a belkan if I've ever seen one.
Aboard Sputnik 5 were sent various animals, amongst which were two dogs, who reportedly barked at an US satellite flying by. Their names where Strelka and Belka.
Strelka had various puppies, one of them was Pushinka, gifted to JFK by Khrushchev and had a litter of puppies refered to as the "pupniks".

partial eclipses are kinda boring. Maybe it would've been neat in the zone of totality.
>>186799883
Yeah, I agree. It got darker and the crickets started chirping, but even 97% wasn't that amazing. Totality was actually somewhat near where I live, but I would've never been able to get up there, everyone was trying to head north. Highways have been bumper to bumper all day.
>>186799883
eclipses in general are overhyped.
I'm tired of all the coverage.
>>186800025
It didn't even get darker here up north, and the crickets started going anyways. The only thing that was different was that everything outside looked more orange than usual for a little bit.

>>186801439
>>186801913
Thanks buddies
>>186802185
Did you get any good advice on it since?
I might have to try some like this again at some point, but it's also really damn extreme because it obscures so much of the plane, and beyond some really simple angles I have no clue on how to make it work.
But right now I'm happy with just trying to improove on the black/white lineart without much shading
Don't die now
>>186802923
Unfortunately, no advice came my way (other than reading a book that I'm still trying to digest and apply to a digital rather than analog medium) and I'm generally terrible at the whole "figuring things up through trial and error" thing. Apart from disliking fumbling around, I pretty much need guidance while learning the ropes of most things. It's not like a game where you can just press all buttons and figure out what they do. The amount of tools and functions is a tad overwhelming.
Largely flat colour with highlights and black, sharp shading is really stylish and beautiful, but it doesn't always lend itself to an illustration's purpose. It's far too intense looking for a shoujo illustration, to give an extreme example. I also gobbles up details in the darkness, as you point out.
>>186804431
>didn't check resolution and filesize while exporting
>>186804431
>>186804610
Well if anything that's a great livery to slap onto a Sukhoi. Intake looks a bit wonky, but it does the same on the actual photo, so I guess that's one of those cases where it just looks odd at that angle. Same for the hump, kinda makes it look crooked
No idea
>shoujo illustration
And you lost me. But yeah I can agree with it, that's why I don't really shade that way at all as is. But I think stuff like making the invasion stripes or other dark colours full black with some white lines for the panelling has worked alright for me, like in picrelated. There's just this ratio to figure out of how much is too much and how little is too little. I'll also have to figure out how to do chrome in b/w.
But unfortunately I can't really help you with shading because like I said, I don't do all that much of it either. At best I do the big, obvious shadows.
>>186804610
Is that edge?
>>186805181
>Ofnir livery
>good
Well, it is good tbqh. It's an F-16 livery, fitting for an aggressor squadron. I agree that the intake and the stinger look weird, but photos (usually) don't lie on those.
>shoujo
I was making a joke that since those usually use smooth and bright colouring (see pic related for an example), it would be jarring for one to ressemble Redline of all things. I don't draw that sort of thing, just to be clear.
>>186805275
The photo reminded me of her, so I went ahead and drew her.
>>186805819
I'll be honest, I just looked at that as regular F16 camo, I didn't know it was Ofnir.
>photos
Well no, but there is certain angles where it'll look off despite being correct. No clue why that is though, foreshortening and angles don't like eachother too well presumably
>Redline

I really had to force myself to realize that yes, I was standing before an honest-to-god F14D.
