I played it for the setting, voice actors and interest in the IP as much as them titties, y'know.

But honestly, it depends what you want out of it and how tolerant you are of mediocre JRPGs. If you want a Valkyria game, you will be disappointed. If you want a long JRPG with a war-torn magic-Europe setting then it might appeal to you but the gameplay is repetitive and not particularly interesting or deep.

I actually quite enjoyed the story, the main characters were interesting and their story coupled with the setting actually had me wanting to keep going despite the gameplay never clicking for me outside of a couple of battles.

However the story is almost too much at times because of how relentless the game is with cutscenes. Sometimes you'll do a 10 minute mission followed by 30 minutes made up of six cutscenes, one after another (with loading in between them) and can easily drain your interest for that session.

But the gameplay itself just, I don't even know what they were going for. It felt like someone tried to cram series mechanics into a real time action game in the worst way possible and it just didn't mesh well at all, and the 90% of the bosses are giant health bars you just whack for ages.

The soundtrack was also very good, that's worth mentioning. Soundtrack is good enough that I'd say it's worth a listen even if you don't play the game, it's good shit.

It's also reasonably long at about 30 - 40 hours to finish the game normally, though a LOT of that is just watching cutscenes.

Is it worth $15? If you have a morbid curiosity for mediocre JRPGs like I do, and a good tolerance for repetitive gameplay, you might find something appealing in it. I enjoyed it, but didn't love it, and wouldn't really recommend it.

I recently got my hands on P5 through some pretty wonky means. I was supposed to receive FF-12 Zodiac Age but am willing to give this game a try. When I play JRPGs I like for there to be a skill tree or a job system. Is that somewhat present in this game or is there a completely new system? Social-Link aspects from P3 were the least fun I had in a persona game and I haven't kept up with the series since.

You don't need to watch it, it's not that big of a deal. The other shows, if you haven't seen them I'd say yes, like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage, but Iron Fist has almost zero reason for existing, let alone watching. I feel like the friendly AI in this mission is worse than usual. I know Okatsu running in circles is an older thing but on top of that and her and Hanzo standing still in the middle of a fight, it also happens way more often.

This level is way better on WotWise though just because of how many dlc enemies they added to it. I think every skeleton archer was replaced with a Rokurokubi. I think it's weird that they didn't do it gradually throughout, but maybe they'll add a lot more dlc enemies in the next one and replace many more enemies in the next difficulty.

I think the glitches are the exception. In WotD and below the majority of the time the AI shreds enemies. On WotW it's a bit different since they can't take as much damage, but they still draw aggro and output plenty of damage themselves. Ginchiyo especially is a beast.

Hey 40, gimme some advice. I have a PS3, 360, and WiiU and wanted to finally get to Bayonetta, but I know WiiU is probably the best version with ps3 being the worst, but I want the plat. Wii U and 360 versions run 60fps with fairly common drops into the 50s and 40s. The PS3 version runs at a wildly variable 30fps.

The PS3 version is absolutely worse, and even if you're tolerant of low frame rates, you'd appreciate how much better the 360 and Wii U versions are. I would highly recommend you play it on Wii U, 360 or PC if you can, the game benefits from the higher frame rate.

You're gonna have to play 2 on Wii U anyway too.

I'd only recommend the PS3 version to someone who absolutely will never buy any of the other platforms the game is on AND if they are fine with 30fps action games. Is it playable? Totally, it became one of my favourite games ever after I played it on PS3 first. But it's definitely the inferior version.

For the record, I've platinumed it on PS3 (then completed it a few more times on top of that), and played through it once on Normal on both Wii U and PC, all in that order. Also was just considering doing a Hard mode playthrough on PC soon too.

i loved the customizability of weapons in both their general stats (fire rate, aiming proficiency, ammo capacity) as well as giving them modifications that significantly change their usage (freezing enemies, giving DOT, making enemies fight for you, etc.)

re-installed Automata to my ext hdd
Went to get the engine blade weapon
aka the BECOME AS GODS section
load into chapter where you first talk to Pascal outside of factory

Any good point and click games on PS4? Not in the vein of Telltale's series, but a more proper point and click, preferably with some charm and not incredibly convoluted puzzles.

Just got done with Broken Age and really quite enjoyed it, far more than I expected. Played it back on + way back and deleted it promptly, but going back it was pretty fun.

Although Grim Fandango has a couple irritating puzzles, it's one of my all-time favorites. Besides that, Day of the Tentacle, and Full Throttle, there's not many classics on PS4. I wish they'd port everything and add platinum trophies.

The creator of Monkey Island's new game, Thimbleweed Park, comes to PS4 next week, but I don't know if it's any good. By good I mean more than a nostalgic throwback. The kind of X-Files or Twin Peaks premise is stale for me as well.

There's a company called Daedalic Entertainment that's been putting out shiny-looking adventure games, and I hear they're quality titles, but they're a little pricey so I haven't played anything yet.

The latest point-and-click adventure game I played that I ended up loving was Dropsy. Nearly perfect--its pixel art style isn't too lazy; the environments, music, characters are all memorable; storytelling actually left an impact on me; and the puzzles are well-designed. Only on PC, but I strongly recommend it. My laptop is a toaster and I was able to play it.

You might love what the genre has to offer then. I personally didn't like Broken Age because I could tell Tim Schafer pissed away the Kickstarter money, but if it's one of the few adventure games you've played and enjoyed, there's a lot more to experience.

I've always said that they're the ideal way to go about telling a non-action-oriented video game story, because it takes advantage of the medium. I'm not wearing nostalgia goggles as I don't claim they're deep games, but they're definitely deeper than most of the story-driven ones today. Look at Gone Home, Firewatch, or Virginia. Indie developers have freedom to do whatever they want, yet somehow people think these museum tours with braindead interaction (and contrived stories) are pushing the industry forward. As for interactive movies like Quantic Dream, Telltale, and now Supermassive games, there's potential, but they still don't give you enough to interact with or explore. I'm hoping A Way Out addresses these common flaws.

I hadn't followed the Kickstarter at all, but I did find the game pretty short, and Act 2 kind of shit the bed story wise and it sort of felt like it didn't really reach its potential. There should have been a 3rd act which incorporated more of the ideas that there were hints of in Act 2.
But it had fun characters, I thought the puzzles were good, made me think and the world was interesting. It's a game I'd actually look forward to playing when turning on my PS4 all the way to the end, which hasn't been happening too often these days. As for indie walking simulators, I've never really cared much for them. Don't hate them, but they just don't interest me much. Like you say, there's just not much there in terms of interaction or even thinking, it's generally just moving from one point to another. They can be fun though, I quite liked Wolf Among Us but too many games have began just aping the formula, not to mention Telltale themselves flooding the market with spin offs of every IP you can think of. Interact Movies are different, I thought Until Dawn was good but that also had some pretty high production values to the point it really felt like an interactive movie. A lot of other games fall short.

On average, western games have surpassed japanese ones. When japan does make a game where they actually try to do something good, they can be phenomenal and some of the best games you can ever play. But most of what games come from japan are really cheap and are nothing more than a quick buck that follow the most basic definitions and mechanics of a game. They clearly have very little thought put in them and more times than not the biggest draw of the game is attractive characters. On the western side of things, you don't get those phenomenal games that are must haves too often, but you get a fat stack of games worth a play. For every one game that flops like ME:A, you get another year of games that are at least 8/10. On Japan's side, you can get a good handful of games that are at least 9/10, but outside that is a sea of 6/10 and below. Japan makes maybe 5 good games a year, and all of them are masterpieces with nothing else to offer than that, while the west has a masterpiece maybe 3 times a decade, but can produce 20 worthwhile games per year to make up for that. My best bet is budget has more to do with this as western can spread projects far, while japan relies on that one game that will keep their studio alive just one more year.
