>emphasis on speedrunning, parkour, tricks and leaderboards
>heavily modified boost, normal analog speed is comparable to /sthg/'s game with realistic physics, but with a speed cap when not rolling. Boost is now a gas pedal, and you're not invincible, but it lets you reach much faster speeds
>3 acts per zone with an extra boss act
>gradual movement towards different level tropes (act 1 is a forest, act 3 is a beach, act 1 of next zone is on the water etc)
>no booster pads
>no automation, setpieces are a minimum
>bosses are proper arenas instead of constantly running
>only characters are Sonic, Tails, Eggman and Metal (insert here)
>cutscenes between each zone, story isn't deep but with a lot of atmosphere and it might get kinda grim towards the end
>Tails and Eggman speak, but Sonic is mostly silent and/or pantomime

Personally, I'm in favor of having them on the same level as the other cartoon characters and B-list game characters were in the reboot; that is, not main characters anymore, but they'll show up when relevant for a particular story.

The comic can be original stories and adventures based on the world of the games, starring the game characters using assets and locations from the various titles.

Let's be honest. The sonic movie will be garbage. No one who likes sonic would ever suggest it be a animated/live action mix.

It's literally going to be the smurfs movie. It's going to be some generic as fuck comedy for normies, with Sonic lazily written into the plot. So then normies was see sonic on the poster of the movie and say "Hey! I remember Sonic. Alright, just for a bit of hope for the movie, what if the only aspect that is live action is like the first couple of minutes of the movie and the human character gets pulled into a Sonic game and joins Sonic in his world with some movie original plot. I won't say that will make the movie good but I can at least hope for that much. Shadow is an evil clone of Sonic created by Dr. Eggman to fight and kill Sonic so Eggman can take over the world with his new doomsday weapon. He's monotone, obedient, and cocky.

After fighting Sonic a few times, something clicks in Shadow's head and he turns to the side of good right as Eggman activates the big fuckoff doomsday weapon he built. Shadow sacrifices himself to stop the weapon, Eggman runs off, plan foiled, and Sonic says a couple of words honoring his memory before running off to his next adventure

How do we make the freedom fighters' names not terrible?

Let's start with Sally Acorn.

Things stay mostly the same for SA2, but instead of dying Sonic chaos controls him back onto the ark.
That way we get to skip all the godawful muh amnesia bits. He still doesn't know his whole history because it was top secret so him looking to uncover what really happened with the conspiricy would be a secondary character motivation beyond keeping his promise to maria.
Black arms get retgonned since that's dumb as hell, but pic related gets some recognition.

As for gameplay he'd be hard mode most of the time with additional movement options and attacks. Maybe with a couple moves that drain rings to reinforce how he had a hard time keeping his ring energy up in the final fight in SA2.

His personality would never hit edgemode and would stay mostly like how he came to be towards the end of SA2 with slight character development as he settled into his new role.

have metal sonic be involved, employed by eggman during the prison island heist, as well as more or less being sent to keep an eye on shadow because eggman doesn't really trust him 100% until the first eclipse cannon demonstration. have metal sonic, in turn, also be responsible for blowing rouge's cover rather than shadow magically finding out who rouge is.

during the cannon's core sequence, have metal sonic stay behind to take on a large number of Artificial Chaos while Sonic continues onward alone. Metal Sonic assimilates elements of the artificial chaos here and gets the copy ability and liquid metal this way, leading to sonic heroes.

have shadow actually die like he was clearly supposed to. the one in heroes is an android, and is indistinguishable from the other shadow androids except that people who knew him found this one first. play with the idea of why he's entitled to live while other android copies aren't. i've made posts about this before, though.

But in general I felt STC did a bit less. They started with the premise that sonic and his friends live on mobius, mobius has zones and shit and lots of stuff from the games. They fight robotnik on a regular basis, and around that lots of random stuff is added to make on going stories out of, but it felt like that could follow the games pretty well because they didn't have this elaborate world set up.

The archie comics start with Sonic being part of a rebel group in this dystopian world ruled by Robotnik. This always rubbed me wrong from that start because immediately sonic in the games single handedly took on robonik pretty easily. Where in the archie comics he's part of a larger rebel group that really struggles to get any ground against robotnik. it's not bad per say, but it's just more different and harder to make feel natural when introducing stuff from the games as they came out.

That's just how I see it anyways. I'm sure someone could argue that the opposite is true too.

If Shadow needs to be a genetically engineered ultimate living weapon then he's not really better than "just a guy that loves adventure" through his own merit. Shadow can and should be equal to Sonic, but it's more interesting if it's through his own willpower and determination.

Mewtwo is meant to be a super power final boss character and antagonist. He'd be far less interesting if he was a regular character because you'd never get the sense that he's overcoming a challenge through his own effort, but through the abilities he was gifted. Can you imagine just as one of Ash's traveling companions? Shadow on the other hand is a protagonist, even if he's not one of Sonic's butt buddies like Tails is, so his power level should be kept lower so it feels like he's actually overcoming a challenge.

Shadow would still be an artificially-created being and you can explore that aspect of him, he just wouldn't be The Ultimate Lifeform (registered trademark of Eggman Industries, LLC).

Since the Archie comics have ended, the only real reason you should bother reading them is to experience the whole series. So issue #1. Since, unless IDW does grab all the old staff and just keep going, there are no new issues coming out, you also have no rush to read them quickly and catch up. So just read at your leisure.
