Horses aren't seen in true high tier matches, most of the horse staples can't be merged past a certain point so they get dropped for infantry or flier counterparts.

Horses are great for beginner and intermediate level players though, anything Lunatic grade or below will easily get wiped by a properly invested Horse Emblem team.

I just pulled a 2nd Ephraim trying to get Corrin.

The one on the left is +Defense/-Res, the new one is +Atk/-Res.

I was thinking of merging them, with most of the new modes only allowing for one of each unit. I'm not sure which one does Ephraim's roll better. He's very similar to Lukas, but with an awesome Prf for Bladetome users. The left one could be better on a Defense tile. He shrugs off every physical hit easy, plus with Bonfire, when I feel like wasting another 2k, he can put an enormous dent in anything.

The one on the left imagine being more all-purpose. He can kill off more things, especially Mages, but with a Blade user on the field, I feel like he'll rarely be out killing things in the first place.

What do you guys think? I can just keep both for now too. See what those coin things will do in the future, when they're out.

They're both outclassed. SI fodder-wise Navarre is better since he can at least give 2 tiers of Desperation if you only have 1 Shanna, was never retarded enough to roll Colourless and get a Niles, and need both Iceberg and Desperation 3. Also Blazing Wind is a good Special for more Arena pts.

Berkut's Lance is niche as fuck and you can just run Sapphire Lance for Res-tanking. Water Boost is extremely niche and is pretty much only good on Fae who can just run TA, and Eliwood is common as fuck for Ward Cav.

Soldiers/Knights/Barons are going to get doubled anyway but have enough Def to shrug it off, so give it to an attacker who needs to double, like Alm, a mages, a cavalier, or Mercenary Gray (Alm and any archer with a Killer Bow will get a Combat Art with a Brave weapon effect eventually as well, reducing their need to prioritize Spd). They also have low Mov, can't ORKO due to their Spd (but can make it easier for your units to finish them off), and are stuck with lances, which only have Javelin/Gradivus/Rhomphaia as good weapons.

Definitely a tough call. 35 defense before skills is nothing to sneeze at. If you're using him to bait with QR, I'd say stick with the +def. More likelihood not only to survive powerful enemies, but even to help stay in the 80% QR threshold against weaker ones.

On the other hand, +atk won't serve much of a purpose for what you're using him for, because you're typically going to be killing anyway with a QR>Bonfire combo. Since you're pairing him with a Blade tome, I'd say he's better suited for the bait and kill role.

The 4* pool is absurdly crowded, the point is to make it easier to get units in the 4-5 pool. So while units like Hinata might be harder, units like Klein should be much easier.

Faye is pretty flexible. She's similar to Kliff in that she does pretty well in whatever class you put her in. Mage!Faye is also the only girl mage that can learn sagittae. Cleirc!Faye is super busted though and trivializes a lot of things.

You can never have enough clerics, and their spell list beyond the basic Recover/Nosferatu/Seraphim don't overlap. Access to early, unlimited Physic is amazing, and Rescue is the cherry on top.

Faye does fine as a mage, though. Echoes is a pretty easy game, you don't need to worry too much about optimal play.

There's no reason to NOT use top tier units, regardless of need or want. The game is all about winning, and top tier units secure wins, bottom tier units DO NOT.

I know that WINNING post has to be bait, but as someone with a pretty decent line-up of units, I get screwed over way more often by a random, unexpected unit like Gordin or Stahl or whatever than by those S-Tier characters. I have a counter to Reinhardt, I have a counter to Hector, to Bridelia, and so on, because I expect them. Meanwhile some maniac who really put a ton of work into their random favorite can really get me.

Cecilia is good for the same reason Summer Corrin and Spring Camilla are good, she's the only mage of her color and move type. Also, cavs are probably the most used move type right now, so she's all over the place. Her stats might not be perfectly optimal, but she fills a niche no one else can.

If you build your team around your favorite units and make sure they complement each other, then your team will be better than 4 "good" units thrown together only on the basis that they are good and without consideration of their strengths, weaknesses and synergy.
