They have exactly the same base stats. The only core difference is that Seabreeze's Dystopia is water elemental and she has a shitty charm move that you should never use.

Dark Fina does have her enhancements though, which greatly strengthens her Dystopia and Ultima.

This why I've been preferring GL to JP lately, the distiller means less pressure to play when you don't want to. I'm the kind of autistic where if I don't farm or earn something while it's available then I feel like I've wasted it, so farmable magicite will cause some stress for me but the distiller at least makes it less stressful than JP.

the combat is quicker in 13-2, and with the monster taming as our third party member, you can roll around with some funny companions, like a chocobo to a fucking behemoth, i liked it alot personally, it was the first one i played from the 13 series, and the arena fights are fun as fuck too, but like i said each one is like 2 bucks or some shit, cant remember, but you do get that character as a party member

The gameplay fixed some things like being able to switch leaders in the middle of battle, if your leader dies you just switch to the other character, the addition of "wound" damage which I found neat, random battles aren't HP sponges like in the middle to late game of 13 so they are faster
There is a monster collecting thing going on that you set up as you third party member and can change depending on the style you switch into if you want it to
The zones you visit actually feel like they have life in them and consist of more than just corridors
But most importantly is that the game gets going almost as soon as it starts instead of having a 20 hour tutorial like in 13

FNC was a project started in 2004 with Nojima, Toriyama, Nomura, & Tabata. Nojima made all the starting lore, essentially a bible (things like Etro, l'Cie, Focus, etc) and the others were told to interpret the lore as they wished. That's why Toriyama had fal'Cie as Machine Gods and Tabata as Crystals. What we got in XV was essentially them reworking FNC lore to be Not-FNC. It's why things feel similar lore-wise. Lightning was just Toriyama's way of creating his ideal and he wanted to share it through XIII. It'd be admirable if it weren't so sad that the original script sucked that badly and he was such a hard waifuist

Crystal Tools was the biggest mistake they ever did. They were trying to compete with Unreal by creating an engine that they could sell a license for, for others to use and create games. Ended up costing them Millions of dollars. FFXIII's development hell and the general disappointment around it single-handily put it on its deathbed, and Versus XIII being reworked to XV pulled the plug on it entirely.

Just want to clarify that FFXV when it was Versus was planned to use Crystal Tools too, but they were having too many issues because it wasn't designed to handle a 1:1 scale seamless world map, so one of the lead engineers of Crystal Tools heavily modified the engine so that it would have become a "Versus specific engine", that was known as Ebony engine, named that way because Crystal Tools was originally known as White Engine.

No, I wouldn't put all the blame on XIII (But it does deserve a good amount). XIV 1.0 was God Awful to the point that S-E apologized publicly for it's terrible release. For reference as an example, a clay pot had the same amount of polygons as a playable character.
