For fun? Lucid dreaming makes the death thing a moot point and not dying is also a thing. RDM's have less utility too. RDM's 2 min cooldown is a 1.2% overall bonus. There are 2 different SMN cooldowns, a shield that returns damage and a magic def debuff. Both are up in 60 sec. That's 40%-100% more damage vs 2.4-7.2% more damage. It just takes a not shit player and most SMN's don't use sic unfortunately

Am I reading it wrong or is the market board terrible for low tier items?
I just started and was doing crafting, but I needed bronze rivets, I checked the price per NPC seller and it was something like 9 gill per.
Then I checked the marker board expecting it to be a few gill under that, and instead it was closer to 100 gill per rivet.
Is this just a case of being in a lower pop world (admantoise) or is their a reason why those shit deals are on the board?

A BLM and a SMN with Garuda have a higher damage output than a RDM and a party of physical DPS. The RDM buff only gives like 7.2% of a buff to the entire party. Versus the 20% magic def that can be done in that same time frame it's just more damage. Parties that can survive fights don't need RDM. That being said, that's 60% more damage if it's a RDM, BLM, and SMN.

It's actually a little weird. Angered tried to run 1S with SMN to compare speed, and it was respectable but still beaten by RDM comps. 1S is a good metric right now because it's a simple one shot, it's near impossible to wipe on 1S even this early on unless you're Party Finding. But speedkills for 1S are largely dominated by RDM across several parties. 2S and 3S get even funnier.

The same goes for the current Extreme Primals. Red Mage compositions are still beating SMN and Black Mage compositions

Get a party together.
Pull in a reasonable manner that you can sufficiently kill.
Kill the first boss.
First pull is like 200k
Goliath mob is 75k by itself
Next pull is another 200k or so
First boss is about 300k

Takes 5 minutes to do depending on your party I suppose. It's amazing once you get a handful of people in the groove of things.

Nah this is true, but you need to understand that the reason is literally Embolden. A Black Mage will personally outDPS a Red Mage on 1S, even with the slip and slide thing going on. But Black Mage can't beat out Embolden as well.

Honestly, this is probably why 1S is such a good metric. Mantra is really good for current 3S and 4S, but it's not a factor for 1S. It's largely a mechanical fight with very simple mechanics at that. The healing is a good check on basic competence, but it's not something you truly need Mantra for. Samurai is still incredibly strong, but I think MNK was underestimated.

I don't know. I always consider my job as the tank isn't to pull as much as possible. I pull a group at a time just because that's how I like to play it. Everything along the main story quest has to be essential though. Given the player character's growth in power a lot of this shit is wholly beneath you, but you have to do it anyway or else you don't get to play through the content.

I didn't watch a single cutscene since 2.0 but, from my experience drudging through the main quest objectives, a lot of it could be cut out with no detriment to the game itself. It's filler shit. A large portion of it.

Dungeons haven't really changed since 2.0, all straight line mob fests. Which is unfortunate, but the new dungeons are at least more fun and better designed. The new trial is A+.

Raids are alright. Claimed to be easier than the last one but thats a good thing anyways.

If you aren't on Balmung now you never will be, its perma-locked to new and transfers. But its as whatever as its always been. They fixed server queues recently.

SB is the exact same shit as HW, although the content is of much better quality, dungeons are actually fun to run, ex primals despite being easy are fun and give worthwile rewards, SAM and RDM both have been very popular and people tend to say they're well designed jobs, they're much better than the HW jobs

raid is a big step above gordias with extra nostalgia pandering, really fun fights though, savage has been super fun too

so yeah good xpac, much better than HW just a shame they use the exact same formula for releasing their content again
