His sole purpose is to kill Genji and feel remorse about it. If you look closely at their stories - Genjis is the main one, while Hanzo is supplementary, helping Grengu to "find his inner peace" and all that weeb shit.

That's a byproduct of the creation process for the character, I think. Originally there was only Genji, then Hanzo was born to basically house the abilities they wanted to strip away from the character.
That said I still there there's something there, all it's missing is a third character to provide what's missing: A loyal, evil Shimada to serve as a counterpoint to the viewpoints of both Genji and Hanzo and maybe even force them to develop together as siblings.

HOW TO PROPERLY BUFF ROADHOG POST-NERF:

Just remove falloff and Road would be fine on most accounts. At the moment, the low damage max at 150 point blank, on top of the falloff he receives at short distances makes his damage output abysmal at all ranges, so even if you get a clean Hook and shot combo, the enemy can just get 5 meters away and your spread and falloff won't be able to finish a squishy. Without falloff, he would have moderate burst damage up close with the 150 cap, good chip damage from afar given that his spread won't do much to non-tank hitboxes.

The only reason I think the Scrap Ball should have its damage removed is because that could put a layer of skill into Hog being able to erase squishies again. Pre-nerf, the Scrap ball did 75 damage. This meant a headshot would do 150 damage. If a Hog is actually skilled in lining up his shots on his hooked victim, he can get a 175 damage combo with the hook, and then throw in a melee for a clean 205 damage.

The Orange outline would let you know exactly who you're pulling in, just in case there are multiple people crowded and you need to know what character hitbox to try and line up the scrapball shot.

It makes it so you reward skill, and still allow hog to have his job of punishing bad positioning and being a counter to flankers (a hug problem with the dive meta).

Largely disregarding abilities, what is a hero you want to see lore-wise? I want a hero who is a young man, Hana's age or even younger, who is a kind of outcast because of some strange powers he has (dunno why, the 'accident/botched recovery' angle has already been pulled with Lena, Genji, and possibly Reaper though so not that). Since the only ones he can relate to are Lena and Reaper as they're the only ones who really have "powers" like that, they both try to convince him to lend his talent to their cause, and he decides on helping Lena because he sees her like a big sister and is inspired by her to use his power for good like she does.

Tracer's kit is much more forgiving, and doesn't have the DPS reaper does.

I'm not trying to insult tracer players, Tracer is an objectively better hero. Reaper has only one tool to get out of a jam, if it doesn't work out, he dies, hence most won't play him.

There's no character in this game currently less threatening than junkrat. His projectiles are so slow, so loud, so bright, and so easy to see that it is all but impossible to get hit by them in anything other than point blank range.

Traps are predictable, and his mine is just a better grenade that get gets to use once in a while to hopefully follow up on a direct. He, more than anyone else in this game currently needs buffs along with bastion and tobjorn.

pharah and dva existing in the game is a design oversight. he has no reliable way of dealing with pharah. dva just hard counters him so much.this is his biggest weakness.

riptire is shitty. I feel like the only way to make this ult work is if he jumps inside it or something.

dragonblade, dash and leap breaking beartrap are his biggest counters to the trap. otherwise it doesnt matter if its obvious, its a deterrent of death.

so when you make a character impossible to use precisely and attempt to shoehorn them into ONLY spamming, youre effectively saying "this character should never be used against skilled players, his purpose is to shit on scrub heads" which is just fucking terrible game design

shooting around corners and forcing matrix to look up is also useful.

One of them (Zenyatta) can only ever played as an off-healer/second healer because his absolute maximum healing/second is 30 to a single target. Which is simply not enough with any comp besides 5 DPS.

Another one of the healers (Lucio) has extremely low single target healing as well as having an ability that is very good but requires him to switch off his healing to use it. This makes him have to be paired with another healer too in most circumstances.

That leaves Mercy and Ana, and as fantastic as Ana is, she's susceptible to become increasingly harder to use in certain metas. The current Winston and D.Va heavy meta massively hurts her. This is on top of the fact many teams in Comp are running 3 DPS, making Ana that much harder to do well with.

That means right now Mercy is basically a necessity. There is no other consistent, core healing choice in the game besides Ana and I already outlined her difficulty of use right now.

The game desperately needs more healers. And not just more healing options like Sombra, but more core healers like Mercy and Ana.
