So i played rift for like a week a long time ago before it went f2p, and it had this levelling thing that matched you with a party and put you in a zone with objectives to complete

And now im thinking, why dont they take exploratory missions and make it like a 50+ levelling option, just put 4 players in a zone and have like elite hunts that drop temporary treasure maps, and random fates. It would be super easy to implement theyd barely have to do anything, its content they already have just presented different

I chose a job from each roll and I level them more or less simultaniously. DPS for MSQ, tank and healer for dungeons. That way I feel like I won't get bored with any of them for a while, and the added benefit to see everything from every perspective is just nice.

The meta might change but right now everyone needs a PLD, WHM, BRD, NIN. All the other classes are interchangeable.

Tank is positioning.
Healer is thinking ahead.
DPS is keeping your rotation.

If you want to go full autism and compete in FFlogs, you will need to do all 3 for all 3 roles.

If you don't intend to raid, then none of this is relevant to you and you can do literally whatever you want because its your sub.

If you want my opinion in terms of difficulty its: Tank < Healer < DPS
Tanks don't do anything, healers aren't required to parse high but need to manage people, but DPS are expected to be optimal on everything to get the biggest numbers so you are forced to do all 3 requirements.

The most complex part of tanking is managing your cooldowns, if you line them up properly you will always have a set of cooldowns lining up for tank busters or big pulls. Which is not hard at all IMO.

In raids, you stand on one spot and do your simple rotation and wait till the tank buster comes, or you have to move the boss. There's not much to it. You do have to manage somethings in terms of DoTs and cooldowns, but the only class that was interesting to manage and DPS with was 3.0 DRK.

4.0 DRK is ok, but it feels like a more like a extra gimped DPS class now.

Every DPS class or actually, every class in this game is like that. The fun truly only comes when you try and compete for the biggest numbers. You will realize how much of a shitter you are and then you will want to improve, looking at where you can optimize your movement and rotations.

If you want something more challenging in terms of skill, you're playing the wrong game. The only challange you will get otherwise, is coordination with the other hopefully 7 non retards in your team.

I didn't have all the tanks in HW levelled, but was tank balance always this fucked? I know paladin was useless, but didn't at least DRK and WAR have good kits that made them both strong end desirable?

How the fuck do we end up in a situation where PLD does everything the other two do better, with greater ease, and can do tons of shit they can't do?

Why the fuck is he afraid of tanks doing damage as well? Is he afraid they'll be expected to contribute? Why does he hate self-sustain, but lets PLD have it anyway? Tank balance has always been fucked. Were you here for the PLD/PLD meta of 2.0? Before they changed Inner Beast, Vengeance, Defiance?

And then PLD became super niche in 3.X depending on what fight you were doing and whether you could block attacks or not.

They realized their mistake with Fending accs in 4.0 and gave it enough STR to make it worth it to wear, so I'm not sure how old your information is.

But I do not know what his beef was with Bloodbath, I imagine he thought it was too strong for the others to have but I'd take it over Shake it Off any day. Tanks doing damage just didnt fit their 2.0 narrative of what tanks should do, so I believe they ended up having to adjust the game around the community instead of the other way around.

So I have a buddy constantly saying NIN is complicated and a bad dps to choose as a result. At level 63 I feel as though it's fine since I played it quite a bit in the past.

What do you guys think is the most complicated dps? What is the easiest dps?

I'm curious because ninja is coming to me easier than bard or SAM at the moment and that's "weird".

If i'm in a Full Party and the other Tank has the enemy's focus pretty handily, i'll be there with him in Sword Oath seeing as while Enmity does build in Shield Oath, the chances of the enemy suddenly shifting over to me are low if the other tank's doing their job.

If shit hits the fan or the focus does change, Shield Oath until/unless the other tank happens to pick up aggro again.
