There's no real reason to unless you like the aesthetics or want a specific skill.

HBG damage output is straight up better, but only if you're good enough to use it to its full extent.
At their skill caps, LBG excels at team support and HBG excels at damage output, with a few exceptions. LBG always has the benefit of being quicker and easier to just grab and go, so it's more appealing to beginners while HBG is a bit unforgiving unless you know your enemy.

Basically. The way it's usually viewed is that the damage difference in favour of HBG is worth far more than the mobility difference in favour of LBG.

In p3rd LBG really is just better iirc. The overall DPS is still better from higher rate of fire. In more recent titles LBG is for using limited ammo types effectively and having a generally comfier experience while HBG is raw power.

MHXX; should I make an insect glaive or a bow? Tried both a bit, I like them both but the glaive is so different from 4U.

G3 currently. I do prefer to be somewhat meta, putting so much time and effort into making a meh weapon is never satisfying, but I'll take the top 20% of weapons rather than the top 2. Prefer raw and/or blast, too.

Make the fatty IGs when you can

The best all purpose IG would be the C. Fatalis weapon. Still a ways of from that unless you get carried through the event.
Higher than Top is also a good choice for an all purpose IG, but it is a para weapon.
Besides those two you'll want to make several elemental IG, but you can do that later.

As for bow you've got the Nerscylla bow which you can make right now or the Wargod Crossfire.
Seems like Bow is the better option for you right now unless you want to start those IG already or be an IG para slut.

I'm a newbie, i got MHG on my 3ds with pro pad. I got quite a bit in but took a break. i really want to play again but I could never figure out how to play these games. I dont mean technically but just the flow. First I tried to play almost like a dark souls game but quickly realized the combat isnt as responsive or fluid. But then I got into this weird way of attacking, putting the weapon away, running around, getting a light hit in, probably take damage, try to heal, run around repeat until i most often died or maybe won.

Can someone just... i dont know.. give me some tips or push me into the right direction on how to approach these games?

Pretty sure that's bait you're replying to but he's also not wrong. Monster hunter combos and animations are stilted and slow for most weapons, and the only weapon that plays like basically every dark souls weapon is HH, which is absurdly weak solo.

So, I was thinking, there are a lot of videos and speedruns on Dark Souls of people beating the bosses without taking any damage, I was trying to search for those same types of video for Monster Hunter but couldn't found one, is it impossible not to take damage during a high level hunt or is it the fanbase that don't care about those stuff?

I just find it strange that people manage to defeat all bosses in Dark Souls, an arguably harder game, without taking any damage or hit but the same thing is unheard of in Monster Hunter.

It happens all the time, but in MH we're more concerned with good clear speeds than with "flawless" runs.

However, when you're fighting a monster that can kill you in a single hit, it's not uncommon to play conservatively and simply never get hit. You see that a lot with Gunners in G rank.
