S rank is in, yes. It's also a special hell in that the pool is so small that you lose the privilege of even being able to play ranked. So I'd recommend you throw as many matches as possible to float around low rank until more people populate S rank. This issue is also significantly compounded by them seperating every mode type with a rank, so that you might find more S ranks in one mode while there are significantly less in another. They have fucked it all up big time and need to fix it or people are going to be making smurfs just to be able to fucking play the game.

What's the ability meta like in Splatoon 2? Which ones are the best and most efficient? In Splatoon 1 I mostly put Ink Saver (Main) and Ink Recovery Up on my gear. At any rate, how good are the following abilities?

>Ink Resistance Up
>Tenacity
>Stealth Jump
>Special Charge Up
>Haunt
>Run Speed and Swim Speed Up

Also, I noticed something strange about Ink Resistance. According to the wiki, it's no longer a primary ability exclusive to shoes. You can find it on all types of gear, as well as roll for it on secondary slots and even stack it. How much Ink Resistance do you need to achieve the maximum effect? The Prima Guide for Splatoon 1 says that moving in enemy ink slows you down to 80% of your normal speed instead of 12.5% while also removing the jump height and speed penalty. It also reduces the damage taken by standing in enemy ink from 50 damage over three seconds to 25 over six seconds. And again, this was back when you could ONLY get it as a primary ability from shoes. Does having it as a primary ability in Splatoon 2, or having it in three sub-ability slots give the same effect? Or do you need more to get the maximum effect? I don't know if it's been nerfed or not. I'm seriously hoping you only need 1 primary or 3 sub abilities to reach the cap.

Am I the only one who doesn't have a problem with inkbrush for this rotation? I have the most issues with the splatling gun, especially on high tides. You have 0 options for getting rushed down if you already released a charge.
At least with the inkbrush your chances of getting killed by a hordes are very low. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to be decent at killing boss salmon but only ever die by getting nipped in the ass by smallfry you can't counter.

Correct me if I'm wrong but has ninja squid been nerfed? I remember in splatoon 1 if you had ninja squid there was no indication of you being in ink, no raised inktrails, no tracks.

"Meta" is literally just whatever's popular. A game's meta can change quite rapidly, honestly. Be it weekly, biweekly or even monthly. It doesn't take millions of hours, not even thousands. And besides, the weapon meta is already figured out. Dualies are SS tier. Japs and the best players from Splatoon 1 both figured it out right away. Even back during the days of Splatoon 1 it didn't take long for the meta to be established as it quickly shifted from one direction to another, before we ultimately found out the best weapons and abilities to roll. All I want to know is if abilities have gotten drastic changes since the first installment. It honestly can't be that hard to figure out.

At any rate, I guess I'll have to collect information for you ingrates myself, once my Nintendo Switch arrives in two days.

Good god, I hope not. I didn't use it that much in Splatoon 1 but I remember it being pretty good. It was one of the most popular perks in the game, but some people didn't use it because you could roughly get the same effect by just swimming slower. Once you got used to it, you could be stealthy by lightly tilting the stick or whatever. Dunno if the same shit applies in 2.

When you activate it don't fire right away. Enemies will appear through walls to you so pan around until you see someone then fire. If you aren't getting hit markers, stop firing and find them again and try again. You need to use it in burst fire as firing it continuously makes it super easy to evade. I've pretty good at it now but it really depends on where the enemy are located.
Its way better in ranked as enemies are a lot more clustered usually.

Nintendo hates Killer Wail so they reworked it into a pile of trash. It's so easy to avoid the Sting Ray special that if you get killed by it you honestly deserve it. By the way, the special you're talking about is called Sting Ray. It's only really good to use as a support weapon when someone else is fighting squids, since it can be disorienting and spooky as hell. Don't expect to get solo kills with it, seriously.

Basically what >>183627627 said. It's best for when enemies are clustered together so it's more effective in ranked modes like Splat Zones if they group up near the zone or especially tower control.

Like a number of people have said, it's the opposite of a high-risk, high-reward weapon. The killing power is low, but it's also incredibly safe - you can use it from your spawn or behind a wall where no one can get you and attack people from across the map, if not splatting them at least forcing them to move (which is why it's such an excellent tower control weapon)

Stay relatively close to your group, especially during fog/frenzy. For Grillers, pay attention to who the laser is tracking; if it's tracking you, try to direct it so that your teammates can get behind and take it down.
