Be aware, Thargs are currently grabbing ships out of witchspace and giving out complementary rectal probings, it is advised you shoot the fuck out of them whenever possible, or just go with it if that's your thing, I ain't tellin you how to live. Apparently the Ayylmaos are rumbling again, inquire within if this means goddamned thing or if its just Braben trying to scare up some more money.

Its just point and click. eve is a 80's game. SC is modern. They even removed a small "captain's quarters" component where you could see the avatar. Even that was atrocious!

Come back in month.
>>
>>183609893
i love and support this game but damn, ive been hearing that one month response for a while
>>
>>183610072
To be fair, when they released the schedule, things did seem like they were coming along quicker until various things got predictable delayed.
Evocati was supposed to start 3-4 weeks ago originally, but the delays were communicated in the schedule.
>>
>>183610072
Yeah so you can guess what I'm gonna tell you when you come back next month.
>>
>>183609428

Botting in SC will be hell! Even with static roids I think it will be problematic.
>>
>>183610215

Depends on how many people the ship can have, the npc's and how orders are issued.

If your toon can sit your ass in the captains chair of a orion and control everything by issuing orders then you can bot since most micro is done by the game AI itself.

The prospector will be a different matter though. I think it only carries one. Depends if roids are static and if theres a way to return to the same place for mining.
>>
>>183610476

Ah yes. Botting cargo missions might work too.
>>
FYI crysis has working multiplayer, with multiple enterable vehicles, working FPS mechanics etc etc.

obviously its been out for nearly 10 years and not in early access, it's functional and available for a reasonable price but don't let that put you off, you can still imagine what SC could be like when you play it.
>>
>>183610924
Or I can just play 2.6.3 since SC has most of that shit already.

So I've read in several different places that marked slaves can be turned into a li yong-rui control system if you're pledged to him for 5 merits each. But I'm finding that this isn't the case. I can't even turn them in at lembava.

>>183630034
Pre-sale only. Also, don't bother unless you really want a land vehicle you can barely transport. It doesn't really have good value for its price point.
>>
>>183630813
Passenger runs are good money makers. I mainly do massacre and bounty hunting missions though. Vulture's two main weaknesses are a very low boost speed (makes escaping difficult) and poor power management. There isn't really a best vulture build but I'd recommend a gimbled multicannon and gimbled beam if you can manage the power for it. If not a burst. The multi will be good for power plant sniping. Leaves ships dead in the water and shoot it enough the ship will blow up. Make sure you have A rated thrusters, distributor and power plant. You might be able to get away with B rated thrusters in the vulture.

General flight tips are to find an asteroid and practice using thrusters to maneuver around it. Thrust up and down to circle and use your main engines to maintain distance with FA off. Though with the vulture fighting larger ships you can often just fly around them so long as you stay in the blue zone of your speed.

I am not going to reinstall the heaping trash pile that is E:D but I'm curious:

If I have an anaconda + 100m or so, is there still RNG bullshit to get weapons worth a damn?

Have they even added other meaningless things to do besides the BH, trading, and exploration?

Are there any exploits?
>>
>>183638116
Exploration is the new meme and its not even an explot

>>
>>183638368
How soon till they patch it? I heard that they nerfed the fuck out of trading a few months back and instantly uninstalled.
>>
>>183638442
This is an intentional change that they implemented only about a month ago
It's not like Sothis/Ceos where an edge case in the algorithms creates an unintentionally high payout

It's not going away any time soon
>>
>>183639650
But I thought FDev was obsessed with eliminating all profits entirely and any sort of bump in revenue was quickly nerfed? Huh.
>>
>>183640492
>obsessed with eliminating all profits entirely
They tried. You are only supposed to take 3 at a time, but there are plenty of ways around that. The higher payout was a consolation for the poor griefers who were being kept from their Corvettes.
>>
>>183632137
Whatever your price range is. Usually passenger cabins size 4 and up are preferable. Type series, ASPX, and up make decent travelers. Good jump range is important.

For perspective, 25mm auto cannons fit in that category, and it's iffy on if the bikes will have a spot for an ammo box
>>
>>183645825
ok, good, my herald is safe

for now
>>
>>183646068
ok, well for perspective in SC, 2 size 1 guns on a $35 bike that goes faster with a smaller silohuete is more useful than a slower jeep with a single size 1. energy weapons or otherwise. besides nobody is going to be able to effectively do anything with guns that arent badgers anyway

if they add some new mechanic for it that lets it carry like 3x more ammo if you mount a ballistic, maybe but they wont do that

Wow, talk about insecure. I never claimed its not going to happen, I just want some fucking accountability. That and the game I paid for, that they said I would get.
>>
>>183652774
It's not about insecurity, it's about experience. I've seen it happen a dozen times.

The fact is, if someone has invested in SC, there's a 99% chance they know about the schedule report. If they do, then they know it outlines when CIG expects to get things done. And if someone's been following this project for more than a week, they know what those dates really mean.

There's a very small possibility that the person asking is an idiot, but the most likely outcome by an overwhelming majority is that they're shitposting. Deal with it.

the turret version is the most confusing because even some intern european whos never been in the same room with a firearm can google it real quick and see at the earliest an early 90s HMMWV turret that at least has a fuckin shield for the gunner

Also, no idea why they're even selling those racks. We don't even have a ship with a S6 hardpoint. The Gladiator technically has them, but you can't swap out the racks in the bay.

For now, yes. No docking in combat for boarding, you'll have to EVA. They still plan to make it so you can dock to stations at some point in the not too distant future, but ship-to-ship docking is out of the question for now because they couldn't make it work without everything exploding.

I doubt Squadron 42 has been pushed back too much because of planets. PU has obviously been pushed back quite a lot. Though, with 3.0 it seems like we're reaching the end of the planet delay.

Of course there's also the reduced system count at launch, but hopefully those systems should have roughly the same amount of content thanks to the increased surface area.

I find it so silly that people are in a huff about the released count at "launch" as if launch wasn't some arbitrary thing to begin with. it's not like the rest of the planets are being wiped from the plans, it's that they consider with the new system than 5 - 10 systems will be plenty of content to call a full release, but they're still going to keep going.
>>
>>183710189

>>
>bullying sandi
Hello, Tier-1 Engineer Smart.
>>
>>183710865
honestly I don't even see what the problem is with 5-10 systems. 5 is a little small, sure, but each system has what, 3-5 planets and each planet has an area similar to crusader to explore. that means asteroid belts, moons, stations, and of course, the planet themselves. this gives you like 20-40 areas to work out of on launch, and it's not like these areas are small.
>>
>>183713351
Some people are worried that CIG won't fulfill their promise of 100 systems, which is legitimate, but that was a concern before, so it's not new.

Some people just reason that
>CIG said there would be 100 systems on launch
>Now they said 5-10
>Therefore they went back on their promise and you're an idiot for just accepting it

And any attempt to have a discussion with these people just makes you a mindless cultist.

What does this mean in terms of gameplay? I thought there was supposed to be procedural galaxy just like in ED but with some of the content manually and beautifully crafted as well. So... I'm confused. How can you have a "space" game without a fucking space?
>>
>>183704016
there was a pic of a ship near a moon?
>>
>>183714218
SC was always hand crafted from the start. The procedural planets came much later. We were supposed to have a few landing spots per planet in the original scope.
>>
>>183714420
How can it be MMO scale game if all you have is handful of planets? Doesn't make any sense. And yet they have literally probably closer to 100 different ships and everything. What the actual fuck? The scale of the game doesn't make any sense now.
>>
>>183714218
>What does this mean in terms of gameplay?
We'll have a smaller area to play in terms of empty space volume at launch, but we gain an exponential shitload of surface area for planet-based gameplay.

>I thought there was supposed to be procedural galaxy just like in ED but with some of the content manually and beautifully crafted as well.
There was never ever supposed to be an entire procedural galaxy. SC wants to avoid the problem where your game is as wide as the ocean and as deep as a puddle. With their new procedural planet tech, they can generate planets procedurally, but they don't stop there. The tech also allows artists to modify the generated planet as much as they want. Add planet-scape geological/geographical features, landing zones, etc. They planets are ostensibly procedural, but they all get a very heavy hand-crafting pass. The procedural generation is there to assist content creation, not replace it.

>How can you have a "space" game without a fucking space?
SC's universe has a 1:10 scale for distances in space. It's still fucking huge.

>>183714652
>a handful of planets.
Stanton alone, the one that they're currently working on for Alpha, will have 4 main planets, each with 3-4 moons. That's about 16 bodies in one system. Multiply that by ten, and you've already got 160 moons and planets to explore that are 1:4 scale.

I don't think you appreciate how big space is. And besides, they're not just stopping development of systems after launch.

The reality is this: "launch" is whenever they do the last wipe and money/lives/etc. start mattering for real. These systems are going to take a shitload of time to make, especially now that they're working on the planetary scale. So here's your choice: they launch the game in 3-4 years when they have 10 systems done, or they launch the game in 15 years when they have 100 systems done. Take your pick. 100 systems was feasible before when most of them were set dressing. It simply isn't anymore.
>>
>>183714652
It's the same relative scale, just things are condensed a great deal. Instead of a few points per system, they can make each planet as dense as they want for missions. Hopefully what this means long term is you will be spending most of your time in one system doing stuff as opposed to making one stop then system hopping for fucking ever.
I personally don't see that as a bad thing. I would rather have a full system of stuff to do instead making traveling around itself the game.
>>
>>183715091
I see I guess it could work. I'm just thinking about that you will end up one place which is incredibly crowded and then, we are living age in which intergalactic travel has been norm for ages, warping between handful of places gets old soon.

But I can also imagine very big planetary scale by itself - that's great but that calls for different kind of game mechanics - that's more of a fps type of exploration which is separate from space trucking.

But I'm kinda excited, in vague way. Has there been any previews of the 3.0 alpha yet, any real gameplay where someone is doing something instead of trailers?
>>
>>183714652
>How can it be MMO scale game if all you have is handful of planets?
One of the tiny moons in 3.0 will take 15 hours to circumnavigate by ground vehicle.

The planets and moons in SC are 1/4 scale. That's almost unfathomably huge. Even most MMOs have a very tiny fraction of that in their entire game world.
>>
>>183715125
Yeah I see what you mean now. I'm bit boneheaded because I have dedicated my life banishing sociopathic griefers from ED.
>>
>>183715437
>I'm just thinking about that you will end up one place which is incredibly crowded

I believe instancing will prevent areas from being overcrowded, in fact, it might be too sparse.
>>
>>183715437
Landing zones will likely be relatively crowded, but that's a good thing. You want them to feel busy. But space? And planets? No way. If you spread every person on Earth out evenly across the planet, you wouldn't even be able to see another person. Yeah, SC is 1/4 but that's still ginormous.

As far as mechanics, SC was intended to have FPS mechanics from the beginning. It was one of the major selling points. Except now, instead of just having it on space stations, large ships, and landing zones, we get entire planets with biomes, outposts, derelict ship crashes, etc.

If you want to see some gameplay, look up their Gamescom 2016 and Citizencon 2016 demos.
>>
>>183715904
Have they talked about missions in 3.0 alpha? Do they have anything meaningful to do except racing and exploring / dogfighting? I'm worried that I might become cultist..I shouldn't be this interested.
>>
>>183714218
it's actually going to be bigger and more procedural now. I think they realized once they got their scale fleshed out how fucking massive the world is going to be and decided 5 to 10 was enough to start. it's going to be vanilla WoW in terms of trying to get from one side of the world to another, and entirely possible you won't be able to do it at all in a single sitting.

The missions are supposed to be PvP. For every cargo running mission, there will be a mirror pirate mission. If a player doesn't take either one, a npc does. The cargo runs are supposed to follow from raw resource to finished item, but it won't be that complex to start.
>>
>>183716086
They've talked about their mission system as whole.

Basically, it's modular. You'll have different mission components. Get an item, pirates attack, move some cargo, things like that. But their mission system will be able to combine them in different ways, so that missions don't always play out the same way. You could have a mission to get a black box from a wreck. One time, you're able to get it without a problem. Another time, the system might give an unlawful player a mission to stop you. Another time, you might find a note detailing the location of some cargo you can loot. Stuff like that. Of course, the locations won't be the same every time, either. And that's not even mentioning the emergent gameplay between players and orgs.

Of course, how much of that will actually make it into 3.0 is fucking anyone's guess.

is there really a pirate mission for every cargo haul? that could honestly get boring. instead of 'hope I don't get jumped by pirates' it would be 'ok let's see what kind of pirate we get today' and every hauling mission becomes an arms race rather than a risky cargo run, pretty much eliminating over the long term the chance of coming across poorly defended cargo transports that weren't expecting you, or opportunist pirates that can actually be fended off easily.

We will have to see how the tractor beams work. If holding someone prevents them from using their engines, then that would be ok.
There are probably too many sci-fi tractor beams from them to choose from, but disabling engines is common among them and makes sense here.

I hope the game has some form of proper stealth gameplay and thievery tee bee kyoo haytch.

Imagine how fucking rad it would be if CIG finished a new ship or something after release, stealth patched it in, and left it in some company's hangar for a sneaky player to potentially find and steal, before announcing the ship and having it available for purchase in-game a few weeks later.

I just want a 3 man class for racing larger ships. Pilot, copilot, and engineer just running out the power, engines and cooling to the limits on the edge of exploding, on a racetrack, would be mainstream TV worthy.

I want to take some of these ships for myself. If I could stop one long enough to get tractor beams on and eliminate the crew, minimizing how much damage I have to do would be the priority.

Most ships have 4 main thrusters, tops. They're not running away from you with maneuvering thrusters.

If you don't want to do that, hit them with an EMP.

Hell, this is all assuming it takes only takes a couple seconds to repair a damaged engine, which will almost certainly not be the case.

And before any of this happens, you still have the option to threaten people first.

Basically, stop being a dad and think like a pirate.

Absurd in the fact that it's enough thrust to stay aloft in at least 1G while also being massless or having an arbitrarily high exhaust velocity. SC's orbital mechanics don't allow for that is the problem, though. From what we've seen, once you're in a planet's object container, you're in geostationary orbit, even if your SCM readout says 0. Meaning you literally can't slow down anymore.

I guess you could vector opposite to the spin of the planet, but that wouldn't really help you. Most ships have a top after burn speed of what? Like 500m/s? Drop in the bucket compared to orbital velocity.

And even if you could, again you'd slam into the ground like a bug on a windshield.

The capital ships are going to be relegated to dickwaving and dickstroking in the PU. Either people moving their capships with a large already overpowered convoy escort or as a place for orgs to meet in already secure systems so they can go over totally legit super sekrit mission details.
If no one's going to fill a capship with players if those players could instead be flying 20 odd fighters/bombers in a remotely serious fight.
>>
>>183761493
And what If 8 players in an idris, or perhaps even a more combat focused cap ship, could murder a wing of 20 fighters?
>>
>>183761830
it not gonna work man, capital ship coast will make it not worth losing, you do not go into a military engagements with things your not willing to lose unless you are America. You think people in fighter are gonna care? their jobs just gonna be to unload on you.
>>
>>183761830
I'd be incredibly surprised for starters.
That's still a lot of focussed damage on one target vs damage spread over 20 targets (give or take shield sizes or whatever other resistance types come into play).
I suspect they'll only be useful in situations where there are a fleet to back them up. People are going to find the point of diminishing returns on cap ships where they'll find any more than n number of players on board is a waste of player resources and that human crew are better off flying a fighter to support the larger ship.
>>
>>183762336
The cap will suffer damage for sure, but a fighter suffers a few solid hits and is RIP, the cap will be able to soak damage froma bunch of fighters and shrug it off, fighters and bombers will deal damage but the bobmers have to get through and their destruction will obviously be first priority to AA gunners.

Constellation is a civilian cutter, barely larger or more powerful than the fighters themselves. Like, the connie would fit somewhat snugly into the role of heavy fighter, its not even kind of a cap. Even the Starfarer is a smallish civil freighter, G is just a slightly tougher one.

Also, post yfw, Javelin and Idris get held back for SQ42 secrecy reasons and Polaris owners are the first to fly their caps.

Fighter weapons might not even be able to damage capital armor, it'd be like trying to destroy a tank with a handgun. 20 Gladiators vs a Javelin is going to be a totally different question though, spam the normal missiles to sweep up the fighter escort then use the torps to kill the javelin.

The Marines maintain a massive underground base, but also require that all trainees survive a six-month boot camp on the planet’s surface. Marine units not in the field are engaged in constant wargames here. Corin is one of the best-protected worlds in the galaxy, with a Marine carrier preventing unauthorized access at all times. Plenty of people are interested in the game solely for the support roles or for the FPS mechanics.

Even then, just being able to fly a ship doesn't make you a decent fighter pilot. Hornets are going to be pretty damn expensive, I doubt an org is going to want to piss away that money on a mediocre fighter pilot.

She doesn't belong. She's the only visible member of the team who isn't a nerd and doesn't actually give a shit about the game. That combined with the fact that she's a stuck up model/actress type and the marketing practices she is 100% the source of just rubs everyone the wrong way. She gets some credit for effectively drawing in funds and keeping the lights on, but desu I think the whales would throw money either way. Obviously everyone working is in it for the paycheck, but she's more in it for the paycheck and attention than most, on a project that is conceptualized, funded and built by what are probably some of the most obsessed people in the history of gaming. Very few games have ever been as wanted as SC, and sandi's tactics have both obfuscated development and objectively complicated development. The whole 3.0 demo fiasco was her marketing bullshit, and from an objective stance, that was all wasted effort. The built a "gameplay demo" that wasn't actually applicable, everythign in that demo was one off set piece and hackjob stuff that will never be used in game and all the dev time taken to make it was effectively wasted, except for the fact that the 3.0 demo was tied to a big sale and that sale did generate a lot of money, likely due in part to the hype generated by the demo. Tbh I was gonna buy a polaris before, I did in fact, buy mine during the pre-sale for $625. A lot of others did too, a lot of that money would have come in anyway, without all the deceptive bullshit and wasted devs hours that surrounds the 3.0 demo, which was objectively, a fabrication constructed for hype/marketing purposes. A false front put on the game to make it look farther along/closer to a major release than it was so people would board the hype train and spend. That deception still has not been addressed and likely never will be, just swept under the rug and forgotten. I can't speak for others but the whole situation left a foul taste in my mouth, the flavor of Sandi.

Man, I really wish all CR has said would be what we get.

Unfortunately what I'm expecting is everyone will fly their own ship with the big caps being mutlicrewed by players everyone once in a while for fun/a video, not because it's the best way to do things. That last bit is important, ''the best way''. It's why we only see Sabres/Super Hornets in AC, and it'll be why the whole specialist profession thing will only work with RP orgs.

this is why i didnt buy into the "ships larger than 2 man required crew" meme, any orgs where people are from more than 2 hours timezone apart with more than like 30 people are going to collapse so hard

i guess most people just want to be part of something if they dont have actual freinds to play with

cutlass remains the only real option for general usage, illicit activity or otherwise

obviously you'd want bigger ships but it's not worth it without real human beings on escort scouting ahead and dealing with whatever out-strafes you.

maybe whip out something as big as a cat but like only once there is loot to grab, keep it parked in a darkass gorge somewhere planetside til then

hopefully persistence applies to cargo stored outside of [designated ship cargo slots] whenever those systems are all fully fleshed out - what's a pirate without multiple hidden caches of illegal weapons and stolen goods too hot to take back into space?

I think the Starfarer will see a lot of duty as a pirate ship, G in particular.
It well armed for its size, has sizable internal and external cargo, will be common thus thus less prone to inspection/be a low profile sort of ship while being quite powerful. It wan carry ground vehicles and a large board party. If modular construction becomes a thing it wioll be a go to ship from dropping building kits planetside due to the combination of large external cargo racks and also being able to land loaded. It's like a bigger, more powerful, less stigmatized cutlass. No ones gonna look at a Starfarer and think "Omg Pirates!!!1" they're gonna look at it and wonder If they can get a deal on fuel.

I was going to type something out, but >>183780737 nailed better than I could. I would just add that my perception is she is like Yoko Ono. She knows fuck all about video games, but yet still has some insight about the best way to advertise and sell the game.
Vanufag was probably a little more generous than I would be. I consider her a dead weight on the project. There are a lot of things SC needs, greedy jew marketing tactics is not one of them. If they would actually release something decent, word of mouth on the internet will do way more than any ad campaign.
Shitty, useless, marketing aside, she needs elocution lessons so she can speak on camera without sounding like a Furby with text to speech.

you're probably right, i still cant justify anything larger than a connie for any kind of organized movement i'll ever be leading, risking alot putting too much focus on cargo capacity, and 2-3 cutlass/lancer crews will have a massive murder scene cleaned up and abandoned pretty quick, and can then split up and dissapear from the law for a bit before rallying at wherever theyre hiding the shit. load it all up into a legal hauler with your designated "dont get crimestat so we can abuse this system" guys to go fence

hopefully there will be a system in place to identify stolen things as stolen to the game so there is a fencing/black market kinda part to piracy
>>
>>183785137
To put the sharpest point on it I can, she is an actress who is play pretending as a marketing VP and keeping an actually qualified marketing person from having that job. Nepotism is a part of modern life, but that doesn't mean people aren't hilariously mismatched with their job when they are hired based on head giving skills.
Look at pretty much any SC marketing fuck up like the vertical slice, holiday livestream, or the referral program and see a hopelessly incompetent person at the top calling the shots.
Pretty much everyone at CIG got their job because they were really good at what they do. They have excellence in every department because they hire top talent for a cutting edge game, except one department. Sandi got her job for fucking Chris and gets to share the screen with actually great actors who have earned their place, and that's why people don't like her,
>>
>all that theoretical talk
>"game" is still a test demo with 0 content and few points of interest

Oh man
>>
>>183784869
Only indie games survives on word of mouth. Big productions have to rely on big marketing campaigns, unfortunately. I find this worrying for SC. Sandi has the greedy jew part nailed down, but I'm anxious to see what her capabilities are in regard to a full blown hype marketing campaign for the release. Star Citizen's reputation isn't that good, the only exposition gamers have been getting for years are those journos hit pieces ''SC in financial troubles?'', ''SC, will it ever release?''. Man, there is even parties that actively hinder this game's reputation. Laugh about Derek Smart all you want, his bitter ass still gets listened to and even sometimes interviewed.

People want to see this insanely funded kickstarted game with cultists buying 1000$+ jpegs fail. Just look on /v/, they're thirsty for another TORtanic and see SC as a season 2. Sandi has a fucking mountain of PR work in front of her and I really doubt she can tackle it.
>>
>>183786523
All the negative points you listed were marketing failures from CIG where they failed to set and manage expectations, literally marketing's only job.
She isn't a marketing person. She might have watched a few YT videos about it and read a blog, but compare her performance to other games. NMS was actually garbage, but no one could ever deny the marketing on that game. ME:A was another garbage game with great marketing. Ubisoft's worst scrub marketer would walk all over Sandi on his worst day.
Shitty AAA games sell from marketing alone. If SC had a year 1 marketing graduate with a couple of internships, they would be miles ahead of where they are now.

That's obviously not what they're planning. They have all these plans of post release content, CR even said he wanted SC to be supported for 10 years.

There's no way they will be able to support this massive game with basically preorder money, even if they dramatically downsize their company. They're expecting SC to be a commercial success beyond what they've got right now, but I'm not seeing it happening with Sandi and Ben in charge of everything PR.

A royalty free Cry-engine with only one requirement, and that only requirement depends on you using built in stuff?
I'm sure no one is messing with. They could give Unreal 10%, buy Unity if the game sells well, or have Lumberyard free if they use AWS or free outright if standalone or they write their own networking.

They will make the same money even if they make people buy currency for it first and buy it in game. The whole reason to sell currency is to fight inflation. Selling currency means it can only be destroyed in game and does not contribute to the money generated in game from missions and mobs.
This is why after so many years GTA V has not hyper inflated like most every other mmo. It has inflated some, but guns and armor and most vehicles are still reasonable for casual players.

>>
>>183793327
>Actually convincing yourself that the features promised for 3.0 will be out before december

>>183793794
All the expensive ships will be available via gameplay, The actual game(Star Citizen) and single player campaign(Squadron 42) are now sold for $45 and $15 respectively. $60 total, no subscription, buys you the entire MMO and the first campaign, later campaigns will be sold as expansions later on, probably for ~$20 each.

All the talk of expensive ships is people (Like me, I have spent $2100 on ships >>183749661)
Who throw money at the game to support the project, because we can, not because we have to. $60 buys you the ability to play the game and potentially get all the ships that I have spent money on via gameplay.

That's not the reason they given,
Think of it more as a glitch, they can't program a way for ships of similar mass to dock together without destroying the entire ships if any of the two moves.

Every game with docking usually program it so once-docked the 2 vessels are a single area with no force acting on each other.

But Fidelity wouldn't let it happen. Docking will only act like that between ships or station that are big enough to justify making it all static.

All Star Citizen weapons are outdated vietnam tier dude, pay attention.

For the hundredth time, SC is Cold War in Space. From Korea, to Desert Storm. That is the sort of weapons we are going to be using. Old and busted WW2 surplus(Cyclone TR is a Willeys GP with a .50cal) to First generation Hyperwar(Guided Cluster Missiles, Supermanuverable attack craft with Gimballed weapons and Stealth)

Were not playing an actual *what war in space will be like* sim. We're playing a Space Opera Sim that draws inspiration primarily from 70s 80s and 90s Sci-Fi, which itself drew inspiration from the cold wwar and ww2.

Don't believe me? Go watch the wing commander movies that Chris himself made. It's like The Hunt for Red October in space.
>>
>>183814859
Well it's obvious that Chris has megalomania and is oblivious about anything. In short: he's not professional. He should be writing books because for them it's easy to layout page after page of bullshit. But working with time and money limited projects... he's not just professional for that. That's the fact. I really wonder what kind of lies he's been telling to people because he is still relevant somehow. When you mess up in Hollywood you only mess up once.

When Carl Rinsch was directing 47 Ronin, he was very insecure and perfectionist at the same time. The movie got delayed big time because he wanted to reshoot things for few different occasion. Reshoots for big budget movies are very expensive because all the actors for example have been already booked for something else. Then there is this that once you miss real deadline when the movie is supposed to be in theaters... In the end the production office people took over and fired him. I don't think Rinsch has done any movies since that project.

But nobody is firing Roberts. This is what I don't understand...
>>
>>183815339
>But nobody is firing Roberts. This is what I don't understand...
Then you obviously haven't actually been following the development of the game and there's no purpose in me trying to convince you otherwise. Movies and Video Games are not even remotely similar and the idea that they are is what is killing the industry in the first place. Treating videogames like 2-5 year cash deposit investments is what creates the garbage that floods the market today. It's also why games like Star Citizen that need to spend half of their development cycle in prototyping don't get made.

The act of firing people who don't meet deadlines or want bigger budgets because they're creative and want to build a better product for their consumer is the cancer killing videogames AND hollywood. Your conceptual idealization of "professional" is what has robbed us of games like Privateer, Freelancer, and many others that were killed early in development because the jewry at the top didn't want to make what they thought were dangerous investments.
>>
>>183816305
I'm not talking about the mentality behind making movies or games. I am talking about managing and delivering a project. If you had worked somewhere in your life you should know that if you don't deliver you are going to get fired. If you don't do your job properly, you are going to get fired. You haven't worked in the industry. Your ideological bullshit is not going to change anything. You are either professional and get things done or you are wanker.
>>
>>183816751
So who do you expect to fire him exactly? Himself? You realize he has full creative control of CIG right? He has no superiors, no board of directors, and no investors. The only people in a position to oust him are his co-founders, one of whom is a German Lawyer he has known since his Hollywood days.
>>
>>183816956
What a bonehead you are. That's why he works for his own project because nobody in their right mind will hire him to manage any projects. You don't seem to have any idea how things work on big scale. His Wing Commander movie was a failure because he couldn't adapt his very cool ideas to the format needed for movies.

The films he PARTICIPATED to after it never had him in full control and baring big-name actor like in Lord of War or The Punisher (which couldn't fail) didn't make the news.

>>
>>183844184
Aurora CL is and maybe LX/LN are.
Aurora ES and MR are not by default, you'll have to buy and install an aftermarket drive upgrade in game.

When your get your ship back via insurance it will have stock parts and you'll have to find another jump drive. The redeeming quality of the 315P is its long range range, high speed, and stock jump drive. It's an idea long range runabout when you just need to cover distance quickly without much thought for combat or cargo.

IMO the only 300 series thats actually worth having.

The damn thing won't work but all I have is an Avenger. I want to paint it all black like the V8 Interceptor from Mad Max and mod it for the highest speed and range possible at the expense of everything else. good thing serious development on the game has only been happening for about 2 years. give it another 2 years then maybe start worrying about time if we're not playing a mostly fleshed out beta

even then 4 years for a game this big is generally considered "rushing it"
>>
>>183863447
I've seen it mentioned on reddit there was essentially a soft reboot in 2015 when CIG took back Star Marine let go a bunch of staff and stopped working on show and tell stuff instead to focus on the foundation of Star Citizen with ship pipelines and the editor tools and PG tech which is why it's been so stagnant they basically ended up treating the first 2 years as prototype and experimentation and now are in the process of actually making the game.
I don't know how true it is but it sure seems to line up with why the game hasn't done much but there is this ton of content behind the scenes they're now showing off more of and why SQ42 is delayed so much when any normal AAA studio would have just cheated and made the game with a bunch of shortcuts or hidden loading screens and work arounds to get it out by a due date. If CIG really want it to slot into the SC universe then it's got to wait for the SC tech to be up to date which is both exciting and sucky at the same time.
>>

i know that's at least half true because illfonic got the boot after the fps shit they working on basically couldn't be integrated into the main game so they just brought the fps side of things in-house. illfonic went on to make that friday the 13th game, a game with interesting ideas/mechanics but undermined one of the worst communities in all of online gaming, an ungodly amount of bugs, and overall shitty development.

mainly the part where they had 1/4th their current money and nowhere near the staff they have now until then.

they had enough to make what the playable game was 2 years ago, which was just a courtesy to the backers in anticipation of more money to expand and become an actual company. people really like ignoring the part where CIG wasnt a fully established company for the past 15 years and were not starting day 1 with the resources that major companies do

>>

>OW, CS:GO, and LoL
I won't argue any of that because I don't play competitive OW anymore for that very reason, but competitive games like that have a base floor of toxicity that is part and parcel for those games. None of those game have anything on UT or Quake as far as toxic trash talk.

SC community is bad for being toxic, but not directly focused on competition. There is nothing to win here, but they are still complete shitheads and that is fairly unique. Aside from generic fanboyism, I'm not aware of a place that shits on new people and criticism both to the point where it is sanctioned by the mods and considered normal discourse.
>>

>Aside from generic fanboyism, I'm not aware of a place that shits on new people and criticism both to the point where it is sanctioned by the mods and considered normal discourse.
Ah I see you've not been on any political subreddits lately?
I'm not saying SC backers can't be toxic but in the grand scheme of things they barely scratch the surface of toxicity out there and they're completely contained to their particular fandom outside of a few cases of crossover with ED and NMS.
But generally they stick to the SC subreddit and only talk about SC there not allowing shitting on other games or Devs as primary threads. The comment section anything goes except maybe Derek Smart but then he has a whole subreddit dedicated to him with a grand total of 1400 people subscribed to it and maybe 70 or so people who post in it.
Yeah sure meme the hell out of toxic community if that gets your danglybits stiff but it's got no real basis in reality especially when you take an even cursory glance at all the available subreddits out there.
>>
>>183888975
Most new players don't have the kind of specific critisims that trigger the fuck out of the community something hardcore, like "derek smart was right" or "ben needs to be fired, he's a fat sack of shit"
>>
>>183889258
>Ah I see you've not been on any political subreddits lately?

We are talking about non competitive video games that eat their own.

>>183889392
True, but when someone legit doesn't know that the PU plays like ass and goes to the sub to find out more and doesn't even know what a goon is, only that he apparently is one.
>>
>>183888975
No people were doing that of their own volition because they thought it would be a way to not lose precious fake internet points. People have called out CIG and Star Citizen multiple times without the prefix and been upvoted to front page material. It's always been in the presentation, research and/or quality of the argument.
Go on there and call a bad ship a piece of shit and backers can't upvote you fast enough to agree. Go on there and say you think CIG is a front for swedish mafia money laundering and you'll get nuked harder than a french owned atoll
>>
>>183889552
>We are talking about non competitive video games that eat their own.

NMS had a pretty bad wrap there for a while and Mighty Number 9 was bad both before and after the community turned on Comcept. I mean if I was given time to research I am positive there would be plenty of examples out there of if not worse then as bad for sure.
Hell the Yogcast audience were vicious towards the studio the Yogscast got to make Yogventures if memory serves correctly.
But I guess since Star Citizen is the largest crowdfunded whatever in history they're going to get singled out a lot more because it gets amplified when smaller communities that are as bad or worse are less exposed.
Remember when Pillars of Eternity had a joke about a man sleeping with transperson, did you see how measured and diplomatic the discussion over that was? Yeah me neither. Sides formed instantly and each side was the worst scum ever and should never be listened to depending where you read your gaming news or which subreddit you went to.
>>

So yeah Star Citizen backers are not the most toxic community out there. They're just a community that is toxic now and then.
You ask questions right after 3.0 and there wont be enough people bending over backwards to help newbies out and lend them their ships or invite people to look around the new ships added on the docking ports. But in the middle of no content for what 6 months or something yeah they're going to be toxic pieces of shit they're bored shitless waiting for a patch. Jeeze look at DayZ players just after a patch vs months since the last one.

It has been so long since that happened. There was one patch shortly after 2.0 where it ran like a bat out of hell, then they fucked it up and it has been 20-25 ever since. Every patch has been shit performance that just barely is stable for a game session, unless you go to the menu too many times and it ctd.

But don't point that out on spectrum.

AC, what else is there to play?

Kind of think you should be banned for suggesting there is, to be frank.
>>
>>183895962
dwarf fortress will definitely prepare you for the amount of help this game gives you with learning how to play.

>some people believe it's a U-boat

I never understood how someone can persist in believing that.
Sure they are called torpedo and fired forward, but if you have any limited interest in the game you know it's a corvette/frigate with a helipad hangar

NieR:Automata
I would say it's good, nothing mindblowing but pretty good.

Oh, sweet summer child, you're not even halfway done with the game.

Don't worry, Yoko Taro will unzip his pants and fuck your ass soon.

Second playthrough (AFGK)
still with S9, battling myself over how to proceed to look at every end available. Including the same Ends but with other characters. I just wonder how far it goes.
>>
>>183905585
When you finish, go back and play the original NieR if you liked the narrative.

The gameplay in the original is nothing compared to Automata, and the narrative is slightly less complex, but imo it has a much greater emotional impact. And Kainè is a way better character than anyone in Automata tbqh

Am I supposed to take that well or bad? I knew from the start this was not just a formulaic action/RPG
>>
>>183906025
It depends, do you want to be miserable and nihilistic after you're done? If so, Yoko Taro is your boy.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/16026-Q-A-Tumbril-Cyclone

>Can a Cyclone end up on its side or roof? If so, how do we right the vehicle post-accident?
>The Cyclone features jump-jet thrusters meant to stabilize the vehicle when it becomes airborne. These will attempt to correct any deviation in the vehicle and provide a softer landing. Despite this, it is possible that your Cyclone could find itself flipped, turned upside down. Should this happen, we recommend you take a minute to sit right there, tell everyone how you became the prince of a town called Bel-Air… and then get out and lift.

I'll consider it. Right now I'm wondering how to see the plots triggers coming to try the various end.
It's a little sad, it show the developers' skill when they completely hide them and still make you want to chose another route, but the same skills keep you from discovering them. I wish I had a guide that hint at WHEN it can fork, but not how (surprise you know).

>>183906225
I can teach you all about miserable and nihilistic, it's my life, but since I already finished end A I'm now kind of looking forward what your prophecy mean.
Aside, aren't we supposed to talk about scam game or something you fucking derek jew? have some lies
