2) It's a 190 raw green sharpness weapon. It doesn't scale that well with Affinity and Raw due to its weak sharpness. Even then, between Affinity Oil (if you choose to run it) and the set's innate CE+2, without any crit from your charm you're at 50% already.

It might be okay actually. Since 15% crit from white isn't bad so with 20% from haya and 50% from weakness exploit you'll need at least 15 base crit for 100%. Still if you have less than 15 base crit you're gimping yourself. Assuming generic hayasol set. If not do whatever. Not sure if the 20% element is on the kinsect only but it probably is.

You're right about that since missing just 5-20% crit from 100% isn't that big a deal even with critboost. I guess I gave a hyperbole about it gimping him since you can pretty much run anything and deal with most monsters. I prefer the 30% since some shittier monsters have terrible hitzones. For example the dude was asking about blunt glaives so the alatreon glaive comes to mind and that's argueably the best glaive versus the dread deviants. Those deviants also lack WE spots so at that point the 30% from white is insane against them if running critboost + crit element + dragon attack + crit eye.

I guess the reason why 100% crit sets are more preferable especially in generations is because it's way easier to build. You can easily get 10% more crit with just one expert 3 gem and 50% from WE versus getting attack up S. Which may cost 3-6 slots and multiple armor pieces while preventing you from getting razor sharp, focus, or elemental skills.

How did you not know that was its entire thing, mechanically? IIRC in tri it didn't even have its own quest, you could only fight it when it crashed other monsters' parties. It's because its metabolism and thus appetite is so insatiable that it consumes everything edible in vast swathes of land and lives a nomadic life, with no permanent territory because it would die of starvation if it didn't stay on the move.

You might actually want the 30% kinsect because it has quite the raw so with haya and WE you can get 70% crit with insane raw versus 55% with insane raw. Huge difference as ukanlos has 260! raw so 15% is pretty big especially when it's not even an armor skill.

For example you can relax a bit and slowly walk backwards as he attacks while staying in range of melee and when he does his slam you are infront of him and can easily wack him in the head. Aside form that it's a hammer, so your standard critmeme set would be fine. Or you can trade some of those damage skills for utility skills like HG Earplugs so you're able to get those charged swings in while the monster is asking for it. Maybe E+1 if you're running guild Hammer.

Grimclaw Tigrex has a base Para threshold of 200, with a threshold growth of 140. To apply three Paralysis total, you need to inflict 1020 Para cumulatively.
Comparing a damage Deathprize build (Bludgeoner, AuL, WE and Crit Boost) to the Dreadqueen set that I run (CE+3, Dreadqueen Soul, Status Crit, Weakness Exploiter), the second set functionally has a Para value of 45 (30 * (1+(1*0.25)) * 1.2 = 45).

On average, it takes 102 hits for the first set to achieve the third Paralysis. It only takes the second set 68.
The second set is not limited by using Affinity Oil, and can therefore also reliably KO the monster twice through the use of Exhaust Oil + Shoryugeki.
The first set will lock down the monster for anywhere between 20 and 30 seconds per fight. The second set can lock the monster down for between 30 and 50. The damage lost by running Status skills is made up for by the superior lockdown of the second set. That's the point of running a status weapon.
Because I'm not an ideologue, I tried my best to look at the other side of the argument. The AuL/Bludgeoner/Crit Boost set has more merit than I initially thought (Hellblade set 460, Au/Para 365, Status Crit 288). Status Crit should be used against monsters that die before the AU set can achieve a second para, and on monsters where it can achieve a third where Deathprize cannot. Deathprize is better in the middle scenario, but the monsters that you're likely to use a Status set on are also more likely to take longer to kill, e.g. Grimclaw, and will therefore favour Status Crit in my eyes.

There's no reason to not use Thunder on Grimclaw, Para is better on the likes of Tetsu, Diablos and Zam.

It isn't even bad in 4U, just average. It's a bit below average in 140s, events, etc because those are long enough (have enough HP) for the effects of losing red to show in TAs a lot more. For most of the game if you play well you should be able to get red pretty fast and end the hunt around the time red runs out, so it's functionally just third generation LS but with one fancy move, a rolling upswing and a quicker way to get your combo off added. 4U is also the game where LS feels the best, not counting guild or brave LS in XXX because literally nobody uses guild even in generations and every brave style is like a completely different weapon.

Trying to get the hang of kinsects in double cross, but I'm kind of lost on which ones are worth anything besides balanced for the triple extender. I know the crit one is popular, too, but how does double-up extender work? Do you intentionally only get white/red for the longest buff or what? I can't find any solid numbers anywhere online.

He means plenty of 4U bow guides have been written and a simple google search or trip to the pastebin in the OP could easily reveal them. But since I don't mind spoon feeding I'll say that good bow skills are normal/spread up, load up if the 4th charge level is good, focus, and weakness exploit, and that you want a bow with powershot. The seregios bow is the best in the game ultimately, not sure about G1.

Seregios is one that needs load up to get the most damage. If you can get a set for it with load up, focus and normal/rapid up then it should be able to get you pretty far. Each charge level has a different damage modifier so you typically want to use level 3 or 4 for max damage.

Goddamn I can't wait for this meme to die. It's a general thread, we're here to discuss the game. There's no shame in helping out someone new asking for advice or trying to get into the game. You're doing the general a service by being a decent human being.

The beginning of G rank is always a tough call since you need something decently powerful, but almost all the useful sets are unobtainable. But as was mentioned, you're going to want to prioritize (Shot type) Up and other damage skills since bow is kind of weak by nature. If you're going rapid, Weakness Exploit is definitely huge, but even just going for critical eye or AuL is fine if it's more accessible. Some people argue that Focus isn't too mandatory these days since it's an expensive skill, and it's only a DPS increase if you can fire the arrow the MOMENT it fully charges.

I suggest tossing your best charms into Athena's ASS and seeing how many decent offensive skills you can get on a mix set, even if you're wearing some HR gear and stupid shit like Konchu and Jaggi. It'll be enough to learn bow, and then you can get a full on speedrun meta Seregios Bow set later.
