Today we have released the FSX and Prepar3D versions of our long awaited PMDG DC-6 Cloudmaster product line!

This product was created by a development team led by Chris Powell that included Henning vanRensburg, The World Famous Vin Scimone, Jason Brown, a PMDG premier for Alexander Metzger, with contributions from Michael Frantzeskakis and Alex Bashkatov and an incredible sound mix by Armen Cholakian.

I would also be remiss not to point out the dozens of incredibly detailed liveries created by Pete Sterling- once again bringing Jason's model to life in all of the classic colors of historic aviation!

Unusually, I was not involved in product development this time around, serving instead as an expert witness, offering suggestions on the care, feeding and operation of classic airliners and occasionally providing useful anecdotes to help the team along the way.

The DC-6 is one of the last of the Old Breed of airliners ushered in by the development that took place during WWII, but rapidly made obsolete with the advent of the Comet, DC-8 and 707 aiframes a mere decade after entering service. Still many DC-6s soldiered on, eventually finding conversion to freighter use and a number are still found at work today hauling difficult cargo into poorly accessible regions of the world.

A few examples, such as the Flying Bulls and the NCA ship located in Namibia remain well preserved anthems of the history of modern aviation.

For those who are concerned that they might be overwhelmed by the sheer number of switches, buttons and knobs, we have created a logic driven Flight Engineer to handle nearly all of the tasks required to manage the mechanical conditions of the airplane from before start to end of flight. You can ask for his involvement to a high degree, allowing you to focus on flying the airplane, or you can use him for absolutely nothing and learn the entire airplane yourself. The decision is all yours!

Plenty of aural details in the engines and cockpit. You can hear as the airplane speeds up and slows down, subtle changes in the mixing of propeller noise and cyclinder rumble as power settings are adjusted throughout the flight make the experience incredibly immersive.

Oh and I almost forgot to mention the subtle visual details... the panel is mounted on rubber chock mounts- so if you have an engine in or transiting the prohibited harmonic range, it transmits its harmonic vibration to the airframe, which makes the panel dance about before your eyes...

I just want to be able to see through my MiG-29's hud. Is that too much to ask ED?

This has been the worst night I've ever had with DCS. All crashes. Not a single splash. My only good sortie ended with a pricked-up fucktard rolling onto the runway as I was trying to land resulting in me pulling up at the last minute to avoid a collision and crashing.

Mig-21. What should I do? I'm not flying cold war server, but I don't feel that I should have to in order to have fun with this plane.

I bought a 16000TC + TWCS HOTAS two weeks ago

The 16000TC is working fine, the TWCS throttle is the problem. It won't slide smoothly. I press it forward and the entire base lurches until the throttle rushes forward with a jump.

I was told not to use oil-based lubricants like three-in-one or sewing machine oil because it will melt the plastic parts. Any other suggestions?

In multiplayer, they usually put one waypoint and its on the bullseye. Most single player missions will have the full flight route placed though. Very few multiplayer missions have any sort of structure other than fly towards bullseye and shoot each other.

I don't know exactly what system the Su-27 uses but I assume its similar. When you are in navigation mode, if you select the RTN mode, cycling waypoints will cycle you between airfields. Once you select and airfield you can switch to landing mode and it'll give you ILS.

Its super simplified but its still there. You can easily navigate in the SU-27 without ever using the F10. Most FC3 planes operate the same, the SU-27 just has the most intuitive one.

I think it's more that the Mig-29 and the Su-27 are still owned by Mikoyan and Sukoi, respectively. And they specifically seek permission from manufacturers before they make full-fidelity models because some of that are trade secrets.

It's why they can get away with a Mig-21 but not a Mig-29. Anyone at Mikoyan who seriously worked on the Mig-21 project are either too old to remember where they are or were put into gulags long ago.

Fans of russian planes? fuck you. Anybody that wants there to be full fidelity aircraft for both sides? fuck you"

They know a lot of people would be pissed so they just don't say anything about it.

I've just been watching the MAKS airshow (last day today).

I think its part because Russians hate chaniging things that work, and they have a thing with tradition, on top of it a canopy frame is better if your plane flips over, and since Russians also have this thing from being able to operate a plane from any kind of airfield even roads hence the really fat landing gear it makes sense.

If somebody bought ED and moved them out of Russia, could they do it? I'm wondering if the problem is that laws prevent ED from doing full fidelity Russian aircraft, OR if laws prevent Sukhoi and Mikoyan from giving ED licenses for the IP. Would make a HUGE difference.

I'd imagine if they got the IP at least, they could get really accurate results from publicly available sources and former pilots from third world shitholes.
