It was. I remember there was one guy I kept running into in a Mutsuki and he was the bane of my existence. The enemy team would always shit talk him in all chat and say the asshole in a Mutsuki would lose them the game, and I'd never defend him because I didn't want anyone else realizing what a good strategy it was. Spotting is seriously underrated, though not exactly rewarding.

Spotting is crucial in any kind of competitive match. Mutsuki's advantage over the meta-DD of the season - Mahan - was of comparable significance to that of a typical DD in this season over Leander. She was the DD amongst DDs when it came to spotting and she still had a decent HE alpha too.

They usually give a free 10 point captain and a day of premium, along with some flags. Also your XP is based on how many stars you get, if you 2-star a mission you all get shit XP compared to if you 5-star it.

Mutsuki was never a tier 7. I thought when there were multiple tiers per bracket it was 5/6 and 6/7. I remember my highest tier at the time was 6 so I couldn't go past rank 15

You're talking as if t7 CVs get nothing but t9 matches every single time.
I mean sure t10 CVs have it easy but they also suffer the worst economic balances in the game, making it basically impossible to make credits unless stacking a ton of flags and/or premium account. There's a reason why you only see t10 CVs once every 8 matches. Not to mention the hellish grind to get one of them.
On the other hand t7 premium CVs make decent cash, buy and get it right off the bat and half the times you don't have get bottom tiered.
