No. Deck Nine said you won't be able to change anything we already know happens.
With that in mind, the idea of multiple endings becomes very interesting. I think it will come down to three options but that only show intent of Chloe's part by that point.
One where she and Rachel are getting ready to go to LA but have to cancel, one where Chloe (and maybe Rachel) are getting ready to drive to Seattle and see Max, and one where Chloe visits her father's grave alone and makes a promise to him that she will make it through everything and find happiness.
None of those change anything we know but they let the player decide where Chloe's focus is: Rachel, Max, or herself.

They really fucked up the time travel mechanic badly in this game. First of all, the rewind violates conservation of matter: Max picks up an object, rewinds, and still has it in her inventory. So are we supposed to believe that there are now two of the same objects co-existing in the same space-time? And if that's the case, why does she act like her photo's are gone after she rewinds? Then there's the photojumps which are even more convoluted.

Yeah, the time power is all sorts of messed up. Which is fine since they admitted it wasn't the center of the game and served to advance the character moments.
The problem is when that power did become the focus and we're expected to believe Max's power caused the storm and that her power can fix it. They really should have made things more consistent and cemented what they can, and cannot, do.
I hope S2's power is more explained and consistent so there's no more questions or doubts about some of the most basic aspects.

I'm not expecting a true Rachel romance route in the game. We already know from S1 that Chloe doesn't know exactly what they were so at most you will get a kiss option which Rachel won't really see as anything serious.
Obviously Chloe does develop feelings for Rachel over their time together, but the choices will be if she expresses them aloud or if she keeps them to herself. Even if you make Chloe honest and say everything she's feeling, it won't work to change the ultimate result.

Did the devs say what they thought or did during the first game?
If there's hints of supernatural elements or the storm, then it shows Max is not the only strange thing in the town and so even if she did cause the storm, someone else would have caused it eventually anyway so it's not like Max is responsible for everything. She's just an unwitting pawn in some larger game. If BtS is going to hurt any part of the original game, it will only be hurting the Bay Ending.

Of course. No one here will deny that. Even during the prequel I think we will see Chloe realize what her feelings for Max were since she finally has an understanding about herself and something to compare them to.

Even if they don't work out, Rachel is an important chapter of Chloe's life. We've only heard Chloe's side of the story and with this we will hear more as well as see a bit of Rachel's side.
I think Rachel will do something that gives Chloe some hope or the wrong idea entirely. I really could see something like a drunk hookup between them happening and that being the catalyst for the confusion. They kissed or had sex together, they wake up, Rachel thinks no big deal about it and laughs it off, it leaves Chloe wanting more and thinking Rachel likes her back in that way.
While it wasn't really a plot point in the first game, I do think Chloe's sexuality will play at least some role. She realizes it and that's just another step in her feeling secure about herself. It's one thing Rachel helped Chloe with and that Chloe feels comfortable about by the time Max does return to her, and by then Chloe knows what her feelings for Max were/are.

I didn't see the appeal before but I've read several pretty good Chasefield fics and now I'm hooked. She and Max make a cute couple and Victoria has a lot more depth than your average stereotypical high school queen bee.

Probably my number one fic recommendation for Chasefield would be Saving Victoria Chase (again and again and again).

Personally, I don't like tsundere relationships. It's something that may work in middle school "I like you so I'm mean to you" but when they're adults it just seems dickish. Especially with how needlessly vicious Victoria is to anyone who she even thinks poses a threat, regardless of if they actually do or not.
I can see that Victoria is clearly on a better path by the end of the game but I could still never see her with Max unless everything was completely different.

But yeah, Chloe is flirty and indeed hardcore, but she never seemed overtly sexual in the game.
That seems to be a trait some artists and writers gave her as a joke. Which is fine until it starts influencing how they actually see her. Much like the idea of Kate being hyper-religious and going "Sin!" at anything else. It's funny at times but it becomes quite annoying when people see that as canon, that's only a problem for those who get caught up in the fandom or those who cannot see a character as something more than one trait.

I just finished episode #1. So far its been good. Max is a bit whiny though and has some atrocious running. Chloe also has horrifying style and bad taste in music. I was surprised to discover at the end that you could hide when chloe's stepdad was trying to enter the room. I did not find any place to hide. Also surprised to discover that Chloe is voiced by ashly Burch.

Chloe is one of those girls who was desperate to find someone that cared about her so she gave it up easy to whoever happened to show interest. Rachel was probably Chloe's first big obsession after Max was gone but she still didn't love her for real, more of an infatuation. Rachel probably won't seriously return Chloe's feelings in BtS or ever but Chloe will settle for whatever the relationship is and hope it evolves. It's pretty clear from LiS that Rachel never seriously intended on skipping town with Chloe. But Rachel did serve as the catalyst for Chloe realizing she likes girls in a serious way and maybe even that Rachel was a replacement for Max. I'm hoping BtS can really do some good characterization of Rachel so we can see exactly what the real deal with her was not just Chloe's rose colored view.

I don't think Chloe "gave it up easily" I think something about Rachel lured her in and made her willing to become friends with someone again. I guess that's just a part of Rachel's magical personality. Chloe saw something that drew her in and that she felt like she could trust. Because Rachel was that person Chloe let in, she became extremely important to Chloe and helped her discover herself.
I too hope Rachel's character is handled well and is interesting, she has quite the reputation to live up to.

As an interesting side note: It could have been someone better than Rachel, or someone worse, but eventually there would have been someone lucky enough to earn a chance from Chloe and eventually her trust. Suppose that person turned out to be a guy Chloe actually liked as a person, but didn't want to be with sexually. Even that would help her realize her past feelings for Max and why all the hookups meant nothing; she was looking for a real love and she likes girls.

I agree. Chloe in her Season 1 outfit seems out of place for me. It's almost like a step in the life cycle she's not reached yet. That's her chrysalis and it's still being formed in BtS. The prequel is about her learning things about herself and building up to that appearance. The clothes, the truck, the hair, they're all things that define Chloe and that she acquired over time. Time which will not be sufficiently shown over just a few weeks.

She does look really pretty with that color of brownish hair. I can't figure out if that's supposed to be her natural color or if they will show she dyed it other colors before the blue. Maybe it reminded her a little bit of Max.

I think Chloe got her tattoo after she turned 18 and wouldn't nee parental permission. I hope that to allude to the tattoo, we see sketches Chloe has done in a similar style. Ones which eventually become her sleeve's design. She's still in school then so instead of paying attention she sits there drawing skulls, flower, thorns, and all that stuff.
Just as a guess, I'd say we will see Chloe get her truck, jacket, first bullet for her necklace, and her first signs of blue in highlights.
It's like a little checklist where the final result is the awesome punk girl we all know and love. We won't see everything of that transformation but we will see a good chunk of it.

As someone who definitely doesn't think Max is canon transgender - can I just say that her being transgender actually fits really well and doesn't really clash with anything?

I was just thinking about it but it would explain everything - she came out to her parents early on they were supportive and allowed her to present as a girl but she was still kind of rejected by the rest hence she didn't have friends other than Chloe, they moved to Seattle because that's where the nearest gender therapist/clinic is, they moved when Max was 12 or 13 because that's when major puberty changes started happening and they put her on hormone blockers, Max underwent therapy in Seattle and got gender reassignment surgery when she was 18, this explains both why she never contacted Chloe and why she waiting until she was 18 to move back since you need to be 18 for the surgery. Max even in the game is pretty boyish, which is also why it's difficult for most female cosplayers to cosplay her and in that fan video where she gets a haircut she looks downright like a really feminine boy. It also explains why she's so awkward, shy and insecure around people and why she clings to Chloe who was her friend even in childhood.

Again, just to be clear, I don't think this is canon or that this is the only reasonable explanation but I am saying it fits pretty damn well.
