Herc is pretty sub-par until you get him his 3rd ascension and get his bond up to 10. Then he suddenly transforms into the best 4* in the game and is actually better than most of the 5*'s. But, you have to lug his ass around until then. So if you're looking to play this game longterm and are willing to devote the time necessary to getting Herc to the top, then he's the best choice.

Angra Mainyu was supposed to be the Persian god of darkness. Einzberns tried to cheat in the Third Holy Grail War and summon a god. They succeeded in summoning Angra Mainyu but he wasn't a god, he was just some human that people claimed was the source of all evils. He had no real talents, no real strength, nothing. Literally the weakest Servant that died almost immediately. He goes to fill the grail, as all Servants do when they get wrecked in the HGW, his very existence taints the grail because "everyone" wished for his existence, the existence of one being to embody all evils in the world, so that everyone else could tell themselves that they weren't evil.

By the end of the War the only people that knew the grail was fucked were Kotomine, Gilgamesh, and Kerry. It's more like trying to hack into an extremely large and powerful database that contains all the knowledge in the world.
