Regions are called "sims", short for simulators. For example:
"/vg/ once owned a sim called Stern Island."

"Rez" is the (verb) act of creating an object inworld. It can be done either via the build menu, or by dragging and dropping an item from the inventory into the world.

People who use "toons" or "avatars" to refer to themselves and other players are lame and gay. Don't do that. Avatar generally refers to a specific look. For example:

"Many people dislike Radish's avatar because of its face, but I think he is a swell guy."

It depends what you are looking for out of it.

Good computer that can run Ultra graphics setting? It's pretty good for making characters and taking pictures/videos of them. Lewd ones, if you're into that.

Like roleplay? The communities aren't that great, but you've got access to scripting languages to make nice toys. You can make practically any avatar you want, decorate however you want, and make a nice graphical background for your roleplay.

3d modeling and texturing gets you a decent amount of cash when done right, and making things in this sandbox is one of the most rewarding and fun parts of it.

Want to socialize? Wrong fucking game.

Want to play an MMORPG? Play a fucking MMORPG then, don't waste your time on a sandbox.

Don't know what the hell to do and want to wander around aimlessly? Have fun for exactly one hour before you give up.

She's supposed to be a Safeguard from the manga series BLAME!; basically robots that serve "The Authority", the A.I. in charge of managing the massive megastructure "The City" that encompasses the entire solar system. Since humans no longer posses "Net Terminal Genes" due to a viral epidemic millenia ago they can no longer issue commands to the Authority and it considers all humans to be "illegal residents" that need to be removed from the premises with lethal force.

Granted none of the humanoid Safeguard in the manga wear anything that skimpy (or rather they don't need to wear clothes since they are not constructed to be "anatomically correct" and are just vaguely humanoid from the neck down), but it's hard finding clothes on the marketplace that leave the robotic limbs exposed.

Good idea for a character, but it's pretty much beyond your level of expertise. Something like sanakan would need a custom mesh avatar, since the level of detail of the design is very high and difficult to replicate by modding on SL.

At the very least I'd get rid of the sculpty hair and use mesh hair (A&Y has some cybeprunk hair)
