not really. DPS there's only one viable rotation per class per stamina or magicka build. for instance, if you are a magicka templar, you are the same as other magicka templar outside of gear choices. There's really only one way to play each archetype successfully. So lets say 10 different builds are viable at any given point

If you were looking for a game that had actual uniqueness to character classes beyond palette swapped spam or aoe abilities ESO is not it.

Stamina classes generally rely on the same set of abilities and use the same tactics at end game because they all use abilities that are available to everyone. Stamina classes are so stale its unbelievable.

Other than that, if you play a magicka class, your skills will be dictated by the role that you choose either healer or dps. Most and when i say most, like 90%, of all builds will use identical skills and morphs because those are the only ones that work for that given archetype. There's no real build variety beyond stat sticking with gear

Look at the morphs. There are some skill that have stamina morphs once you level them up enough. For example, DK gets burning ember and fire breath get stamina morphs that makes them poison skills. Also, stamina classes will use magicka based skills for their buffs. Again with DK, a stam DK will use green dragon blood not just for the self heal, but the buff to their own healing, health regen, and stamina regen. They also use hardened armor for the extra resists.

You know it baby. Stamina Sorcs, which sounds weird, and incredibly strong this patch, stamina DK's are great (their rotation is harder, but their abilities can debuff enemies and buff the group, so they can do a lot for a group), stamblades have always been glass cannon single target DPS machines, stamina wardens are pretty good from what I hear, and stamplars are...stamplars.

Magicka sorcs are incredibly powerful (probably due for a nerf, if most of the devs didn't play magsorcs), magdk's are all fire all the time (harder time with sustain, but o a lot of damage), magblades are incredibly versatile (may not do as much damage as a magsorc, but they provide a fuck ton of utility for the group, including marking enemies for more damage, can do damage and heal with the same AoE to help out the healer, etc.), magplars are great healers and fantastic executioners with jesus beam, and magwardens are in a decent place, but will probably be receiving a damage buff.

Depending on how the numbers work out, both will be viable. It looks like sharpened will still be the best for pvp, but precise with the lover mundus stone (penetration) and gear with crit on it (which got a 55% buff to make up for losing the thief) will be similar numbers in pve. At least this will give options rather than "oh, that weapon isn't sharpened, toss it".

Probably wont even need leviathan for max crit next patch, 55% increase on all gear crit is fucking insane add on top that every single resource pool gear stat is going to be 1k-1.2k. I wish I could get inside their heads because why the fuck would they spend a patch nerfing everything into the ground then 3 months later just ramp everyone back up to 11.

Trait changes and proc nerfs were warranted, sharp was a bit intense, precise was like 2% dps loss to sharp with just the buff to precise alone would of made it on par if not better.

Ok, at my pc now, so lets see.

For a destro/resto build, lotus fan (teleport strike), shadow cloak, concealed weapon (veiled strike), inner light, soul tether. Proximity detonation (magicka detonation), blur, healing ward, are good skills.

Inner light to keep from getting ganked, plus it provides crit, shadow cloak to get stealthed and get away when the target survives, lotus fan for a stun from stealth, concealed strike for a melee spammable, soul tether to do damage and heal. Proximity detonation is your bomb skill, every enemy in the radius increases the damage by 25% up to 250%, blur for dodge because not being hit is the best damage mitigation, and ward for some survivibility.

Just saying, being a NB isn't really about 1vX, its about killing a target and getting away. NB's survival is all about killing them before they kill you, so don't expect it to be a fucking mosou game.

Be forewarned, the new class is kind of iffy. As a tank and healer its great, has some really good utility tools. As a stamina DPS, its pretty good, with the right gear can even make bow/bow semi-viable in regular content. As a magicka DPS its lacking, and needs some adjusting.

Figure out what kind of character you want to run, magicka or stamina based. Then, if you want to be autistic, select a race that has bonuses to either stamina or magicka. From there, select your class and have fun. Don't try to rush to end game, since everything is scaled. It isn't like other MMOs where you have to get to max level to start doing shit. You can start doing dungeons with max level players once you reach level 10 and open the dungeon finder. Might not be the best idea to do some of the harder dungeons, but you can do shit.

Just about done downloading the PTS update. My napkin math shows a 2% - 3% at most difference between a sharpened weapon with thief and a precise weapon with lover and a few extra CP in penetration nodes. Everything feels a bit pointless now, there's no sense of wonder, any loot I find feels useless, I don't really see an enemy and wonder if I can actually beat it despite the level difference. i spent massive amounts of time in the Rift on a couple of level 15ish characters, back when everything there was 40ish (and did both vamp and werewolf quests at 15ish), so i can definitely identify. it was fun killing things that much higher than me and getting loot i wouldn't be able to touch for a long time, but i don't know. i think being able to go anywhere and properly do the quests is worth losing that bit of excitement. which was also an annoyance, at times, such as when i'd log in to give away my weekly WW bite and have to run around killing super-bears/cats/trolls to generate the ultimate, lol

Not too keen on crit chance as a magblade. It's great, sure, but I can open with a guaranteed crit and if I fuck up I'd rather fall back into a group than get zerged.
I usually run wyrd tree or lich back bar for escapes/second wind respectively in cyro so i was just going by what would have the most damage potential. If i only have one damage set I'd want it to be the best possible.

As far as I can tell, spinners + lich would be better for sustain and "dps", but the raw stat boost from necro might be better at the end of the day. I might just look for some spinners now and try julianos after the patch hits. At least the store prices can't change for it.

I'd recommend going to alcasts site and looking at hi builds, he has max level and 300 CP breakdowns. Basically, arcanist and tenacity from the green trees for sustain, the defensive ones in the red tree to decrease direct, aoe, physical and magicka damage. In blue it gets tricky since my Templar is only 30, so I'd reference the site. Just be aware of jump points. Any CP node that increases damage, defense, Regen, etc. by a % will always round down to the whole number. So say you have arcanist for magicka regen, at 10%, you could pumpp in points until say 10.99%, but until it hits 11%, you won't see any extra Regen. Keep that in mind if you are stuck between a couple of nodes to put points into, if you can hit a new jump point for one rather than have them sitting being useless in another, go for it. And respeccing cp is fairly cheap and can be done anywhere so go crazy.

I like the direction that its going, offering alternatives to one trait. From some basic testing last night, you are now more a sum of your parts than one specific piece of gear. Already have sharpened weapon? Cool, get crit and such from gear. Already have crit? Cool, get sharpened and use shadow stone, or infused and toss some points into the penetration CP node of your choice. Don't have penetration or a sharpened weapon? Cool, use a precise or infused, use the lover stone, and put a few points into the penetration CP node of your choice if you want some more.

As for prosperous, I see what they want to do. They want to have it affect all of your resources, so if you want a specific pool to regen faster than you go for that mundus stone, like atronauch for more magicka regen. They don't want it to be as powerful as specializing in a single resource, but at the same time if it isn't strong enough then no one will use prosperous...again. Thinking about it, if it is strong enough, then maybe a mix of prosperous and sturdy on my DK tank might work. I already run atronauch for magicka recovery with a mix of sturdy and divines pieces. If the regen was good enough, I'd be interesting to try it out.

Well they've definitely got room to buff it. Tanks will still want sturdy by default, and pvpers won't want to drop too many impen pieces, so it's only really pve healers that they'd need to conceivably worry about in terms of people going all 7 prosperous. If all 7 gave you somthing like 60-75% of the equivalent recovery from a mundus but across all traits I think it could be useful; perhaps a good alternative to amber plasm and other mixed recovery sets

I was always a fan of the idea of getting weapon drops and tokens from VMA. For example, you beat VMA, you get your random weapon with a random trait, and you get a token. So, lets say for 15 or 20 tokens you can trade them for a specific weapon, but the trait is random. Then for 30 or 40 tokens, you trade them for the specific weapon with the specific trait. This way, you can keep doing it and maybe get the weapon that you want, or you can just say fuck the trait and trade them for a specific weapon with a random trait, and if you are really unlucky you can trade them for the specific weapon. Using the maximum cheese build I can do VMA in just over an hour, by no means a leaderboard score, but fairly easily. If I can do that 20 times over the course of a few weeks and just select the weapon type and take whatever trait I get out of it, I'm happy with that. With the changes to weapon traits, this is far more viable than running it a couple hundred times and hoping for a sharpened drop.
