So anyways, there is zero chance for another Fallout game set out west because Obsidian wrote themselves into a narrative corner, and the devs couldn't seem to agree if they just wanted to straight up nuke it and start over, or effectively nuke it and start over, and its unlikely that they would allow the NCR to be destroyed anyways, since no game developer gets successful by telling people everything they worked for in Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas is now pointless.

Not to mention, Obsidian also ruined every single major city outside of California, or Vegas, meaning there is no chance we can have a game set in Salt Lake City, or Denver, or Phoenix, because there is fuck all there.

The only possible way for another western U.S. game to happen is if they set it in like Seattle, and totally ignore the NCR since that is way far north of where the NCR's northern border is.

Okay, so, checked out MCAM but am now genuinely curious, is there a way to port melee weapons into Fallout 4 from NV with outfit studio? I think Buff mentioned something to that effect ages ago, but I realized how much I'd like to see the vertibird blade in Fallout 4 and am thinking of making an attempt to get it in-game myself.

I mean considering how many downed vertibirds end up in the game it would be fairly easy to work one into it in a lore-friendly fashion.

OS makes the model so FO4 can understand it.

Nifskope is mainly what you need to make it then work how you want it to work. I suggest using the super mutant board melee as a reference.

If you export the weapons meshes from NV, using nifskope, into Objs, you can import those into OS, then export them as FO4 nifs. Then using nifskope and a melee weapon as a reference, like super mutant board, you can then put it in how you want. There's a tutorial here if you want to get started.

Being the "laundryboy" is only from a gameplay standpoint, you are TECHNICALLY in charge of those raider groups inasmuch as you are the "general" of the Minutemen despite the fact that you seem to be the only one that ever does the work.

Comparable I'd say because the Institute isn't above using shady characters that get overt "results" as long as they get results.

If you NEED something from a given area it would be hard to argue the effectiveness of an attack spearheaded by both raiders and synths, and as long as you promise the raiders get to loot everything except the one thing you want, well, the raiders probably wouldn't be too put off doing it.

This argument assumes it's a group rather like the Operators than, say, the Disciples, though. Disciples seem like they would turn on the people they're making a deal with just for funsies, and at least the Pack respects shows of strength and as such would fall in line.

Do I have to install a different loads for survival or something? All of my 10mm/.38 cal ammo lost it's special names, ie 10mm is now just "10mm ammo" instead of "10mm Auto Rounds", and all of those are weighted, while the mod ammo ie ".38 Tracer" is unweighted.

I was primarily leading the Minutemen before going with the Nuka World raiders myself. Even had Garvey with me when I planted the first raider flag in the Commonwealth, and he was predictably unhappy about it. My mental justification for this seeming 180 was that my character was gradually becoming more and more disillusioned with "helping" all these people come together and presumably protect themselves when it was just calling in one favor from the Minutemen after another, with relatively little gratitude or even benefit to doing so. Up until Nuka World I chose dialogue to reflect this, becoming increasingly annoyed or impatient in my choices rather than waving that "yeah we're the Minutemen!" flag like I was at the start of the game.

To me it reflected a more mercenary attitude in what had been someone weathering a thankless job -- all while Preston Garvey grew more and more disapproving of the character's methods, openly hating attempts to acquire fair payment (militias do not fund themselves with air, Garvey, you commie bastard).

That "friendship" soured and I killed him soon after returning to the Commonwealth. I'm legit wondering at this point if the game will still let me "complete" it in favor of the Minutemen or if I needed him.

So, what then? Just teleport someone in and grab it. Or just teleport the thing you want out.
And if you have a university point situation where an entire place is marked to be wiped out, teleport a bomb in. If you want to leave the buildings intact, teleport a task force of Synth in the middle of the night.

Newer always means smaller, as far as Bethesda is concerned.

Compare the worldspace of Daggerfall to Morrowind, then Morrowind to Oblivion.

Their games shrink, detail in areas (arguably) goes "up", and never will we experience a Fallout game that takes place in a city-sized city on par with, say, a GTA game.

I would have liked if New Vegas had taken place entirely IN New Vegas, with DLC taking you to areas of the Mojave outside the city itself, but the technology at the time would never have allowed for a bustling cityscape like what we saw in conceptual art.

Morrowind only seemed larger becuase you moved at a snails pace, there was fog covering everything more then 5 feet in front of you, and the terrain was a clusterfuck of mountains that made traveling in a straight line for any amount of time impossible.

Oblivion, Skyrim, and Fallout 4 all have roughly the same playable map area.

Yes, but they also mention that, even if the fusion reactor is online, that it takes them a long time to "charge" up the teleporter to teleport that far, and even with all that power, they really can't do it more then a few times.

Its basically a one time deal since this is the biggest hub of escaped synths anywhere.

Okay, let's assume they send a force of 100 securotrons over. Nonstop travel in a car across the US can be done in 2-3 days. I don't know the top speed of the robots and they are on wheels so I'm going to assume they can at least travel 10-15mph. Most of middle america is flatlands and nothing much of use out there so probably not that damaged from the nukes. 100 trons can wipe out anything that gets near them instantly so enemies aren't really a problem. I'd say it'd only take about a week for them to get over there because robots don't need to stop for any reason. Really, the only issue I see is being able to issue commands to the bots once they reach boston, but realistically the bots would just secure an area nearby while they wait for reinforcements. Traveling the country isn't unheard of in the fallout universe.

I haven't looked that hard into the lore of the fallout universe, but there are areas that "haven't been heard from" that could be used as an excuse to spit out a new big faction. If they really wanted, they could write in that some huge faction in another part of the world makes land fall in america. As of right now, I agree there is no need for a raider army or whatever else, but in the unknown future it could prove useful.

I'm a big raider fanboy and I'd cream my pants if they made a fallout that focused on you being a raider. The nuka dlc is a nice touch, but it's just a dlc and pretty small and limited compared to the rest of the game.

I don't have abig hardon for settlement building so Hangmans alley is usually one of the few settlement i actually build as my safespace in the middle of the map close to traders.
But yeah you need scrap everything, place everywhere and use console commands to disable sections to make something of it.
Downloading one of the few hangman mods that expand the building area vertically so you can build a terrace with a view to the river is nice too.

Found your problem. Do not use loot to auto sort. If anything, you should never use loot period. It barely organizes and only changes order based on dependencies.

Here's an example of what loot does
Mod A adds an armor effect to an armor
Mod B adds something else to mod A's base armor but doesn't depend on mod A
Mod C adds something to mod A's effect so it is dependent on mod A

Sort loot looks like this
Mod B
Mod A
Mod C

But B is now being overwritten by the files of A and C so B's effect never happens anymore. Easily alleviated by just moving B after C.
This is why LOOT is bad. You should be manually doing your load order to match what mods you have and their effects on the game.

Btw, NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER overwrite armor keywords. No matter what any mod ever tells you, never overwrite armor keywords as it will break MANY mods as it probably doesn't have the most up to date version and the armor keywords is the most up to date.

It's not bad, but it can lead to a lot of bloat and even slowdown on lower-end PCs due to the number of extra enemies that will be spawning in every area. It matches up with warehouse and barn height instead. We don't know why they did this. Work around is to use one of those floored staircases to get a second layer of wall started on top of the first one, and just keep doing it until you are at the height desired. Even if they do set up the CPG and the MM become the CPG's police force, it would still create problems. It actually does what the old system did not, and make special actually matter, since you actually NEED SPECIAL to get things.

It also solves the massive problem of skill being 1-100 ranges, but only every 20-25 points of that range actually mattering

I did the Cabot quest again recently and was thinking about how Beth could do a whole Lovecraft DLC in Arabia. Or maybe even a spinoff game.

I'm imagining something like Point Lookout but bigger, with the player a random archaeologist aide in some shitty arab country. It's before the bombs drop, but things are looking bad and there's a larger subplot about how arabia is becoming completely uninhabitable due to global warming and pollution. Insert lots of Poseidon Energy lore here. The ayys are all gone and the endings are based upon who they give the ayyy technology to (Russia, America, Israel, etc).

Or maybe just a "fallout" styled game outside of the US, and the aliens are ghoulified American soldiers who think everything not American should be exterminated. Endgame would be getting abducted by a helicopter then being turned into an American through forcefeeding of hamburgers and soda.

So anyway I find Junktown, it's ok, Killian seems like a stand up guy, then suddenly this guy walks in and shoots Killian then gets dropped by basically everyone around. I take a hunting rifle off his body then chat with Killian a bit then go on my way. Enter Gizmo's Casino, and while I know he has beef with Killian and wants to run the town himself, I didn't expect him to right away ask me to whack Killian, nor did I expect him to sick his lackey on me then pull a gun when I replied "sorry not interested". What a fucking douche.

Was there any way to avoid that escalation? I didn't respond with any insult. I survived the fight, using a couple stimpacks and the rifle I earlier looted (drilled the fat fuck full of holes), then Izo ran for the door and I popped him in the back to finish him off, which I feel bad about. Looted their bodies and then saved and quit in that room. Gizmo had kebabs or something on him, can I use those to interact with the dog? I couldn't do anything with the dog earlier but talk to it ("Woof"), so that's the next thing I'm gonna try when I play, assuming I'm not gonna have to kill anymore people.

Sorry I saw an image like mine and I thought it was my post. I can try and fix all that stuff, but some of it is the Oni face parts. She does have a small gap, but again thats oni. Thats why I made her lips thicker so she wouldn't have the gap in her lips to show off the gap in her teeth. Give me a minute and I will see if I can fix it.

People hate the settlement system because it's a completely unnecessary resource dump. Both of in-game resources and development resources. It doesn't enrich the game in any meaningful way unless you mod it heavily.

BS Defence? No idea what mod that is, unless you mean the Better Settlers soldier option - in which case, no.
I use the Better Settlers with mortal and slightly better gear option, so they're more likely to have a semi-decent gun and armour, but I don't have it set up to give them full combat armour or gauss rifles or the like.

Also, to your response to the other guy, but I'll respond anyway;
Could've, and should've, just been an option -- or integrated into Survival mode.
On all normal difficulties, the game is treated normally. On survival, it turns like hardcore for NV and settlers become mortal.
Would've been another nice distinction between the two.
Too much of a shame that we're talking about Bethesda here.

Like I said above, it would not have been good in any way. The settlement system in vanilla means nothing to gameplay.
There's water farming and such but in vanilla the limits are very low and I imagine its much easier to just explore for loot instead of hitting the refresh timers for the measly 50 water.
Making your settlers mortal would just make the whole thing more tedious.
