I just think it's dumb that the butcher golem leaves 2 (and only 2) adult animals. Takes too long for them to breed. It would arguably be better if they killed everything since you could use other means to move animals to the slaughter area when there are enough of them.

last version release for 1.7 was in May. it is pending a """REWRITE""", which has been in the works on the shoulders of maybe three developers for at least eight months now. So that's already a red flag.

the mod is dead in the water for a lot of reasons, primarily being the completely fucking unreasonable license demanded by MrBrutal, who doesn't even technically own the mod that would be spitfire. by the way the mod is trying to hold his license, while being licensed under LGPL 2.1 on the github repo, and then for some reason CovertJaguar has a license in there too. it has three conflicting licenses.

the other many reasons include the devs not really having any clue how to deal with the mod its ravenously autistic followers, wasting time chasing down people infringing on the fucking copyright of the mod, and having to deal with drama because one of the "lead" devs is a massive prick, the other is a moral high-grounder. They have no idea where to take the mod nor what to even do with it in its current state which is a shoddy mess.
The codebase is easily nearing a decade old and is a fucking mess. There's needless abstraction everywhere, there's not ENOUGH abstraction in other places -- its a disaster.

Minecraft does not use the GPU at all for rendering because something about being unable to pass the lighting calculations.
Install optifine, fastcraft, foamfix for meme versions, etc.

Funnily, Tekkit is what got me into mod development - when I was running my first modded server, someone exploited EE2 (blaze rods!) and never told me about it; after that, I swore to only ever use modpacks I have created myself to avoid this. Eventually, I started making my own mods for said modpacks... good times.

That's why I make my 'house' span several hundred chunks with courtyards and gardens, with different rooms for different magical artifacts and workshops.

Also the gardens have growthcraft grapes and apple trees with sectioned off beehives for honey which gives me a reason to visit the gardens as well, all of this being connected through celestial pearl transport and ars magica gateways.

Not the other anon but I like the idea of making a Roman villa derivate-styled house. Basically have a basic design with a courtyard, and if you ever feel the need to expand destroy the room and continue with another courtyard to the other side, you can do this practically indefinitely. It's not a Roman villa per-se anymore in that style, but it works.
Pic related. You'd start with a single courtyard, and if you for example ran out you'd do the second one while barely affecting the structure itself.

I've been trying BTW since yesterday. I both get and don't get why people rag on it so much.

The first day is pretty tightly designed, as far as I can see. You spend a day punching and chopping wood and make more wooden picks until you have enough for a stone one, and that is a pretty massive upgrade even if it only has 6 uses since you can make 2 picks or pick+axe from a single one.

You make a shelter, use some wood for a chest to save stuff in case you die (this is pretty expensive) until you have a good supply of stone tools. If you were quick you can also hunt for food. Most animals will get killed on the first few nights and they don't respawn. Prior to iron, mushroom farms and fishing are intended to be the only renewable food sources. No stone swords, so you have to use a spare axe for self-defense.

Here is when the rng/grindy part of the mod kicks in. Stone picks are useless for wider-scale mining, so you're supposed to find a cave. You also have to do it before night sets in because night in early game WILL kill you somehow, either by getting killed by a mob or starving to death next morning. Due to randomized respawning you can still move around in relative safety once you have enough shelters spread out across the biomes - or so is the intent, because the radius is so wide I've only ever managed to return to an older shelter once in several hours of playing. If you spawn somewhere with few trees, just walking to another biome can waste a lot of precious daytime.

There's Gloom, which makes darkness kill you. This is pretty interesting and engaging when you're building a new shelter, but on a new moon, natural light isn't enough to prevent it. I looked in the forums, and this is known, but they didn't find a way to fix it without shitting on other features. Workarounds were "have light sources before it happens" and "leave the game running". Probably the worst part of the mod so far.

This now getting purely into the intended midgame, because I haven't managed to actually do it yet. I forgot to mention something: the torch recipe makes 1 torch each, so unless you find exposed coal you have to light up by making holes to the surface in your shelters.

Now, once you have iron, you can make real tools. However, iron ore drops nuggets, so I imagine this requires a lot of caving to find enough exposed iron. From there, you can either make a pick or a hoe. A pick would allow to mine without carrying a million stone picks, but if you have pumpkins a hoe opens up a crop that isn't mushrooms, and also a way to feed and breed chickens. Chickens are apparently changed to leave eggs every morning if you fed them last night.

To find other crops, you have to find a village. If there were villages near your spawn, they instead spawn "ruined" and without anything useful except the fucking cobblestone which you'll probably want to mine anyways. This creates the interesting situation of villages being both more important and harder to find than a stronghold.

Once you have food and a lit-up base, the rest of the mod is probably smooth sailing as far as difficulty goes.

They could have added reskinned cows, ducks or boars but instead the only reskinned things they have added so far are the annoying witch, the shitty mansion villagers (I will give them props for their gimmicks being original) and the zombie&skeleton reskin that only appears on biomes nobody goes to.
Its so sad to see so many things they could have added long time ago that were extremely simple without taking years to do so or have months between each content lacking update.

God fucking damn it. I don't understand why Minecraft is so poorly optimized. I can run literally any other game with 60fps under ultra high settings. But the fucking second I hit mid tier tech on literally any modpack, I start running at 20fps.

And it only happens on fucking midtier too. Just as soon as I spend enough time to get rid of the grindy bits, but just short of sweet sweet end game.

Because minecraft only uses the CPU and RAM and mojangcode and lexcode are shit compared to notchcode.
Being able to run games with ultra high settings is absolutely meaningless, that's mostly GPU.

That being said you should always have optifine and fastcraft installed and be using lag prevention techniques like spreading shit out over multiple chunks.

I'll probably post when he fully grows, takes about an in-game week if I'm remembering correctly. Another idea I had was to just take the stomach acid when the plant grows, and then make a tiny little 3x3 house with sinking carpet in it above where the flower was. Below will be the stomach with the camera and acid. I'll put hoppers below the acid leading to a chest with pipes leading to another chest above ground so I can get their items. It would be like a pet living house that I get to feed.

but yea I can't even recall what I did. I added java and I think I added gradle to my path variable (whatever that means - I guess it adds words that CMD can now recognize and do shit with) and now I just type "gradle build" in an unzipped github mod directory and it's worked a few times. it worked on RTG, IE, and another mod I can't remember.

there are some mods that shit out errors though. so YMMV.
