You can research hours of things and read tons of books of whatever you are playing as. And the good thing is you don't even have to, because Total War is set up in a way that you can just play withouth knowing anything about the period.

I didn't know shit about Warhammer Fantasy too, and it's now my favorite title. It made me buy Vermintide.
It also spoiled other games in this series for me though, i can't play them anymore. I tried recently Empire, Medieval 2, Stainless Steel, Third Age, Rome 2 and Shogun 2 and i can't bring myself to play them for more than few hours, and I wasted shitton of hours in them before (mainly in M2 on various mods).
I bought Attila on this summer sale but i'm yet to play it.

the saga idea is kinda crap, Attila covered a span of roughly 100 years and thats about as short as it can be while still being fun, FOTS being a few months was shit, because it made a lot of the features obsolete (family trees) and in a setting thats not in a period of intense tech growth like boshin war it will be even worse

think of Nappy, due to a narrow time span, it had little tech change across the campaign, no family trees and no potential for significant change, its just shitty. I want to see dynasties rise, I want to see new cities emerge and warfare change, none of that is possible if they start making titles like Total War Saga: 30Y war
