I'm not arguing against the rule, i'm asking why it's in place when a "Game master" has knowledge of the round while they're ingame. It shouldn't matter if they're antag or whatnot, you're not supposed to act on any information obtained "OOC" or in deadchat. Same reason ghosts "forget" everything they see while dead when they come back to life, logically anything a Game Master sees while doing admin work would be "forgotten" upon returning to his/her body same as ghost players.

It's just inconsistent you know? The fact that 0 trust/faith is placed on them during rounds makes me even more untrusting of them as people in a position of power since they're "clearly" not trustworthy enough to impartially handle issues in a round, why would they be trusted to be impartial outside of the round?
If there's a conflict of interest in something, they'd do what every player does and ahelp the issue or not take on the ahelp in question if there's a possibility of personal stake in it.

I don't think it's that we can't trust them. My reasoning was that you can do what you want, but it's much easier to prove someone meta'd than to prove they didn't, and admins are going to be held to a higher standard and are under more scrutiny than your average player. By that logic, head roles, antag roles, security roles, and silicon roles are all dangerous to play while adminned because logically, you're going to kill people or otherwise have access to information that would let you easily get valids, prevent valids, essentially 'win'.

Players tend to become salty when they get killed or their antag round dunked- for example, if you play HoS as an admin and you catch a tator tot by acting on vague evidence, it's much easier to point out the HoS could figure out who was an antag via their flags, than a subtle piece of evidence that isn't specifically logged.

As another, AI gets to float around as the AI Eye- it's just as easy for the admin to wave off that they used flags to get some kind of info as it is to imply they just happened to float by while something antagonistic or human harm related occurred.

Again, it's harder to prove something did not happen rather than something did happen. I'd say if you played Assistant as an Admin and someone happened to begin to murder you and you totally had the upper hand, that you might ought to just let them kill on account of all the trouble it might cause you.

Once you know information, you can't un-know it. For example if you know that some guy's an antag, as Security, you now have to either actively NOT keep tabs on him, even moreso than you would have otherwise, leading to you being a less effective officer, or you can keep tabs on him but try not to do it "too much" which is difficult because how do you judge how much is too much? The line between "regular security officer keeping an eye out for a random dude" and "security officer paying special attention to someone he knows is guilty" is fuzzy.

It's just a lot easier for everyone involved, playing admins included, for them to not have their admin powers active while playing important roles.
Trying to not metagame when you've already been exposed to the information is a burden, it's easier to just not be exposed to the information in the first place.

Not by default, but you can add a bulb, wires, and power cell to a camera in order to give it that ability.

You need to also worry about appearances, though.
Blind trust in the administration is bad because if an asshole does manage to become an admin, they'd get free reign of the place. So players need to hold admins accountable for shit they do that looks sketchy.
The problem is, barring absolute trust, a lot of circumstances in which an admin with active admin powers is playing an important role like command or security can look sketchy.
This is an issue not only for the players who would constantly be paranoid about admins abusing their powers, but also for admins who would be afraid to take certain courses of action for fear that it looks like they're abusing their powers.

Even if no actual improper behavior is taking place, the possibility is there. And since, for example, you can't prove whether a Security Officer walked into a room and stumbled upon a changeling succing a victim just because he felt like checking that room, or because he saw an attack log stating that someone in that room was getting fucked up, I think allowing admins playing as Security Officers and such to see things related to their admin powers, like attack logs and reagent transfer logs, would only cause paranoia and unrest among players and admins alike.

People who are banned from the server shouldn't be in that kind of circle.
