I honestly don't care that much. I have been playing the free to play lifestyle and haven't spent a single dime on the game.
And yet I've got 95% of the cards in the game with a full playset of the majority of them. And I have roughly 90 000 vials and can craft just about whatever I want.

The meta is all over the place from set to set. But I'd argue that it's a wild ride that's entertaining for what it is, and dedicating 30-120~ minutes on it a day in order to keep up isn't that bad.

The only reason Gwent changes cards so often is because the game gets solved so quickly. Every deck has the same retarded strategy of playing fucking nothing until they absolutely have to, then they just play some insanely broken legendary that bounces back to their hand if shit goes wrong. It's always a pure value game, so you can determine any match just from your opening hand.

Before TotG I would have said it's the shittiest CCG on the market but Shadowverse is really giving it a run for its money, and both somehow manage to be worse than Hearthstone, something I never thought was possible.

The tickets are locket to whatever packs they are of. So spend all of your tickets.
Standard pack tickets are also gained from daily missions and weekly missions. So eventually you'll get all the cards.

The recommendation would be to spend all your gold on whatever is the latest pack, and then use vials to craft cards that you missed from older sets.
Also. If possible, try to wait before you vial all of your extra cards until the end of a season or whenever there is a balance change. Since affected cards gain a 100% vial conversion rate. Winning you tons of vials.
And since affected cards are almost always from the latest card set, that's another reason for why spending your gold on the latest set is more valuable. Any changed cards nets you more vials.

And personally I'd never vial anything aside from extras. You'll just regret it later down the road otherwise. But do whatever you feel like on that front.
