I didn't even think about coming to /utg/ before the event at the time. It was only after the event that I even remembered this general existed. I don't really visit very often. Another problem is that I had something else to do early in the morning that day, so I was only able to show up after the event had already started, so I was probably fucked from the beginning. I'd had days where I arrived to Comiket super late and was still able to get the scraps, so I didn't think a small event like みんなの決意 would have been difficult to enter, but I was very wrong about the popularity of Undertale at the time. Now that there is an official japanese release, it's probably a lot worse now. I'll be sure to go early this time.

It was Ask Frisk and Company that got me thinking about it. This week they've had a major plot development where:

- How to save Asriel is established (Chara's holding onto his soul)
- Adds another obstacle to doing it (Asriel doesn't want to abandon Chara and leave them all alone before they can be saved)
- Set things up so nobody who can do anything about it is aware of it (Chara never knew and still doesn't, Flowey's memory got messed up by the experience and the only in-universe people who know are the human souls who can't contact anyone)

So I just got to thinking is the writer ready for asks which are "Hey [Character] go find Chara and bring Flowey with you". Will they ignore such things, or have the character shrug off the suggestion or explain why they can't?

I've no idea how they'll handle it, I just thought it was interesting to think about.

Did that blog pick up again by the way? Red Echoes was decent, but then a bunch of OCs rolled in and turned it into a complete slog. Last I've seen it they were also doing some crossover shit, which I'm also not interested in.

Which means that there are shitty fanworks and good fanworks, and shitty original works and good original works. And while shitty fanworks outnumber good fanworks, the same thing is true for original works. Original works just generally have better filtering, maybe because it's legally easier to make money with them, so you end up seeing much less of the crud.

But back around when I found Undertale, I had hit a wall where I couldn't focus enough to manage either my projects or my real life obligations. Doodling Flowey helped me get through it, so nowadays drawing him makes me happy and I like to doodle him as warm-up.
