so according to wikipedia, the original m18 claymores that were available in the Vietnam war had a guaranteed kill range in a 2~ meter width that extends 30 meters forward. that being said, why is the claymore in RS2 so fucking shit? The mine acts like a regular explosive in the game when it's actually supposed to be like a shotgun that you plant in the ground. without the proper range, you can't even use the claymore in it's real life application (plopping in a flat, open area and waiting for someone to walk by). If it worked correctly, I can guarantee you that players would actually use it

It's a decent map. The biggest problem is that radiomen and pointmen fucking refuse to throw smokes, let alone good useful smokes, which is necessary for pushing the first points.

Also the cobra/loach make or break your push as well. And since the cobra is hard as dick to use properly it's very hard to push against a team that knows to just stack bravo.

Popular maps are seldom popular because they're good, just look at BF3 and BF4's most played maps (Operation Metro, and Operation Metro 2.0/Operation Locker), or RO2's favourites (Apartments and Grain Elevator).

This shit is fucking infuriating. You can have the occasional banter over team chat but holy fuck I don't fucking care about every little thing you're experiencing that's completely irrelevant to the team.

I've given up on getting upset at SL's. The SL system is fundamentally broken and needs to be changed back to class based system. The problem of random SL distribution will never be solved. Sometimes the SL will leave and some random idiot who doesn't know what he's doing gets it. Sometimes I'll get it as an RPG man and have to sit there and open up the menu and hand it off to someone else because I'm no where near where a tunnel should be placed.

The entire squad system as of now is flawed beyond repair.

Yeah I have terrible luck hitting helicopters. I'm more effective using it as a siege weapon against enemy's hunkered in cover.
I still take shots at helicopters, but I keep missing them, haven't really figured out the proper lead required.

the matches are short but you usually get 600+ out of them.its not as unbearable as grinding on an empty server.if you wanna grind skirmish servers are good too sincethe points are close to each other and you cap faster.

I'm liking JungleRiot, Cambodian Incursion, and the territories version of one of the supremacy maps. Honorable mention to Operation Masher and JungleRaid, latter definitely needs a huge bump in tickets and fixed everything and it'd be perfect. We seriously need more US Defensive maps. JungleRaid makes me hope one of the new official maps will be Khe Sanh in Q4 2017-Q2 2018 or whatever.

I played on Bloodbath servers pretty often before the 60 tick ones were being advertised. 2fjg was popular in RO2 but they can be faggots about swearing etc. 60 tick is day and night compared to default 20 tick.

It sucks when the SL is playing retarded, not marking anything, and dying every two seconds. So a lot of times I'd rather just do the job myself. I mean you can just stay behind cover a lot of the time, but youre going to have to move at some point so it isn't completely dull and boring. Plus you at least get to control where some people are attacking so can "force" people in your squad to go to Delta instead of Charlie on lmao valley. I mean sure there is nothing stopping them from trekking across the map, but people usually go to the closest place.

I want Charlies Point (Vin Din Dop) from Apocalypse Now.

Americans get like 6 Hueys and 3 Loachs, but they can only respawn either on a Huey or at the helipad. VC don't get any RPGs and only one or two HMGs. Lay the objectives out Maggot Hill style, where Americans have to capture 3 objectives around the map in order to take the central, most heavily fortified objective, no backcapping. Make long sweeping beaches and rice paddies around the map so the Americans can get plenty of LZs.

Bloodbath ran a map like that for a while. It was pretty rough, but the overall idea was fine. Forcing the Americans to rely on Hueys was pretty fun for both sides.

While my dad did always say the US should have just adopted a domestically made AK, he also was adamant in that using a captured AK was downright suicidal.

Anyone who knows anything will tell you that AKs and ARs sound very, very distinct from one another. With visibility so restricted by foliage, a lot of the time he would just open fire in whatever direction he heard AK fire coming from.

Using a captured AK would exponentially increase the likelihood of you getting lit the fuck up by your own guys.

For the life of me I can't seem to get the guns right on the loach. Better video card coming soon which should help but strafing the dshks just doesn't seem to do anything most times. Getting accurate with the loach is a big goal.

That said hueys shouldn't fear the dhsks, they should fear the RPG guy waiting near the drop-off point. Those dudes will sit the entire game waiting for you.

There's actually a lot of places you can land semi-successfully: one spot where you can slide over a rock and land in a clearing near the map borders, the diska gun clearing, a spot right between VC spawn and A, and one right next to a tree trunk right at the entrance to A from B. Even if you fuck up it means everyone lives, since it avoids landing on a cliff. (Hueys being able to do this and the VC commander walking in the river and ambush deploying at F is really going to ruin the map.)

And I've done a couple of successful landings directly on B if the RPGs are camping near the river, about three small spots you can land at and still be able to take off.

Still learning how to hover a few feet off the ground while still being able to deploy troops.

I use the Type 56-1 (the folding stock one), because when you fold the stock you have increased mobility, higher FOV when aiming (but no real precision, and more recoil), making it better in CQB.

Yeah I know about that map but the problem is that it is difficult to organize a map where VC/PAVN are able to set a squad tunnel anywhere they want and therefore there must be some organization of the map layout, whether the VC/PAVN are able to come towards that central compound from more than 2 angles or not.

Perhaps the best solution to this is to set up a center point that only unlocks when all 4 other points are captured, can't be accessed behind the US spawn, and then the center building must be breached to win the game?

Using full auto for assault rifles is actually a casual filter. Semi-auto is a better fire setting. I'd wager most people complaining about "bad hit reg" with AKs are actually just shooting full auto into the fucking sky without realizing it.

Hue at the moment is kinda shitty for VC because they essentially can't use any of their specialty stuff like traps or tunnels to undermine the US. I actually think that's why it's most popular- right now the RS2 community is new and has absorbed a lot of people used to playing conventional FPS games. Playing Hue, especially as US is the most conventional FPS experience. Hue is still kinda fun, it's just played way, way too much.

The game improves with decent SLs and TLs. Right now it seems like 3/4 of Squad Leaders don't understand their responsibilities. When you get good ones, the game gets ballin'.

I don't get not putting down marks like a mad man, since you can always change it to a better mark as the game goes on and that shit is free kills. Same deal with putting down a tunnel as VC- it's free points income.

Playing as a US SL spawnpoint requires a bit more patience, but all you need is a mild amount of restraint when it comes to letting other players play point into enemy areas.

And this isn't even getting into traps for VC. It takes almost no time to put them down. I personally love playing VC sapper and just laying down fuckloads of mines. It's so rare for them to be disarmed. I'd say right now 9 out of ten mines I put down go off, and only a small amount are disarmed.

People are passing up on free kills because all they know in FPS is shooting guns.

Those maps are fine for Punji kills. Just place the traps where the Gis will take cover or along trench lines to stop them advancing. On Hue they can be placed on C either in tunnels or at the wall breach, Hill 937 is lousy with trenches/tunnels and Cu Chi has them later on too. If people actually placed their traps VC would do much better

Hill and Cu Chi are incredibly easy to get Punji kills. You can set punjis inside the tunnels on Hills and around E on cu chi and watch GI die.

Besides, punjis are mainly there to set and retreat back to previous points.

Hue is a lost cause, but I get plenty on Chu Chi in the pic related spots. I put them just outside the doors of the little flank huts, just below the steps on C, and all in the trenches in the later part of the map.

Hamburger Hill, I just put them on the trenches all in C and D and get kills when the GIs try their big pushes.

The M16 is actually pretty capable. It doesn't have the severe "over penetration" penalties of 7.62x39mm, and you can fire decent auto bursts at medium range.

GIs tend to bunch up because they are usually on the assault. As a result, they will often stop and wait bunched up for the deployment of smoke or air support. If you can get a bead on them, you will usually have at least 3 or 4 in your sights. Extra bonus points when you're using a GI weapon so they get even more confused because they don't hear an AK going off.

As for not getting shot down the best way is not getting hit much, and certainly not head on. Especially for the Loach you get knocked around to a ridiculous degree as well, so not flying so that you can't pull off a recovery is a good idea.
