honestly, the courtyard content is kind of shitty. Crimson Curse is pretty much a death sentence for your units because the alternative is spending a goddamn year going through these massive fucking dungeonsthat seem mismatched to the suggested level. the first Crimson Courtyard mission is pretty much a veteran mission despite what it says.

and if you make the mistake of doing the first quest, every other area is going to be swarming with bloodsuckers and eventually cursing fucking everyone giving you no choice but to either try and not get fucked in the ass by a crocodile or just dismiss the characters you spent time building because they're as good as dead anyway.

On the other hand, I enjoyed most of the new experimental features what they implemented and the designs are absolutely stellar in how it pieces to the story while being standalone. Even the new mobs are differential enough that they feel like a new threat instead of a reskin of present mobs. Their mechanics are nothing we've faced before (a new curse threat, their primary damage dealers are in the back, transformations, draining attrition, pure damage traps). You gotta respect that they put a ton of thought in designing something new but at least half of what's implemented did poorly in execution. Blood being rare as intended, only got more common with every patch.

The worst you can justifiably blame RNG on are some unlucky crits/dots/betrayals, and those only happen once in a blue moon. Things like party wipes are entirely your own fault.

There's also no way to actually lose the game unless you're playing on Bloodmoon, which should only be done after you've completed the campaign once before. On Radiant and Darkest there's no situation you can't recover from, it's just grindy and annoying to have to do that.

Should I just give up trying to keep my roster clean of the Crimson Curse? This is genuinely stressful. Nearly had an IRL heart attack when my team of veterans with good quirks ran into one of these. Miraculously made it out with no Crimson Curse, but I won't get that lucky again.

in every single dungeon i enter there are situations where i could not have played better and i either get absolutely stressed or damaged on 1 single character because the enemy decides to just gangbang the guy
or i just get an entire round of mine dodged
etc.
you can give an arguement to bring x trinket but given the diversity of the mobs and the classes and the scenarios, you cannot bring certain trinkets to everything

that doesnt mean that the game itself is bad but there is no counterplay to RNG and telling people that it doesnt matter means that they expect it not to be significant
lets say you go to weald and the tree guy one-shots one of your characters because everything you did to him missed despite having high ACC, how are you supposed to play better then? its rhetorical

dadg itself claims that the game has no meaningful RNG, because they believe that if they say so that means they are good players because they can outplay the game

its personal preference really, i don't like leper in general especially not for farming
he is good for certain boss fights tho

you can do a BH, HM front line with musketeer vestal in the back
but i'd either change the MAA or the Leper out for a BH or an HM, they both have good CC and good damage/utility
it works with changing out the leper too but then the MAA has to be front line and the HM in the second position

so basically Muskateer-Vestal-MAA-BH or Muskateer-Vestal-HM-MAA or Muskateer-Vestal-HM-BH or Muskateer-Vestal-BH-MAA but it even works with a second position occultist

so yeah, also vestal-occultist-hm-bh is the best for weald in case you do not know

anyway these are just personal preferences

Jack of all trades, master of none. Does well in low level dungeons, but he falls off in in most departments late game due to specializing champions for tasks with skills/trinkets/quirks/etc. since other champs can do his things better, though the stress heal is always relevant.
That being said, he's good for dealing with undead, as well as being the only one that can both heal and stress heal. Go for damage in ruins, other places slap on a Signed Conscription + Ancestor's Scroll and have him on support duty.

The passive state gives you +1 SPD in exchange for -10% HP and -5% to resists. This is arguably already worth it for SPD stacking, especially on someone like Arbalest who has way too much HP for a backilne hero and suffer from low base SPD.

Drinking blood while passive gives another +3 SPD and +7 DODGE with no additional penalties, this is a huge bonus.

Drinking blood while craving gives bloodlust which gives +4 SPD, +15% to resists and +25% DMG at the cost of a very small chance of the hero refusing heals, acting out of control etc. Giving them blood while in bloodlust bumps the 25% DMG bonus to 50% but also gives them 40-50 stress. Those are all wirthwhile trade-offs.

Not to mention all the trinkets that give ridiculous bonuses for cursed heroes.

He fulfills his needed roles and he's literally the main reason why Ruins is the easiest dungeon because of his compatibility with it. His dealbreaker compared to other heroes is that he's the slowest hero at 1 SPD, even the leper is faster than him and that's already something. To be fair I think croc does feel a lot more RNG than most bosses in the game. Like with every other boss there is some strat you can follow to beat them fairly reliably (clearing mark on swine king, reducing prophet damage etc) but for croc it sorta feels like you're just praying he doesn't meme all over you with apex predator before you can kill him

With bone bearer, you can drag him to the front and end him before he can apply buffs to his minions. Or you can disable his minions so long as they can be debuff'ed or stunned with other party members finishing them off and deleting their corpses. When you're against Virago, not only does she debuff your guys to make her party have a easier time, she can deal a ton of flak against your weaker heroes all while her champions can demolish you without relying on a buff. What sets both Virago and Bearer apart is that she can be at her full potential no matter where she is due to her debuff/stun resistances while with Bone Bearer, his party is the main threat and once you drag him to the front, you have the opportunity to finish him and he can't buff his guys even further making his threat potential drop in half. You have more flexibility against Bone Bearer since you either focus on getting rid of his party, killing him or disable all of them until you chip their health away. With the case of Virago, you always have to kill her first.

The passive +25% DMG buff and another 25% each turn (which he will often waste on bone royalty or other weak enemy) is nothing compared to what a Swine Skiver can do to your party with a single crit. It also doesn't compare to the sheer RNG of Virago's ridiculously high DODGE and debuff resist.

Skiver>Virago>Bearer>Ghast. The sole fact that one crit from the Skiver can cost you an entire run makes him objectively the worst out of the 4.
