I don't even use SnS but I hope blade oils return because I think it's a great concept in general. One of the main benefits of the weapon is that you can use items while unsheathed and I think they should take this even further by having more unique items that the weapon can use. For example, I was thinking like special elemental bombs that only SnS could use. Or maybe even built-in special items specific for each weapon similar to how bowguns got built-in ammo.

Different guy but I have conflicted feelings on power coatings. Currently bow needs it to keep up with the damage of other weapons, but the result is status and close range coatings being muscled out by power coatings because it's such a massive difference that it's difficult to justify status coats when you could just use power coat to kill the monster so much faster, not to mention stagger it more easily.

It makes bows which can't equip power coat instantly inferior to those that can, which cuts down massively on weapon variety. In 4U it's especially bad since there are zero armour pieces that have power coat add on them and it can only show up on LR charms.

I feel like power coat should be adjusted somehow, power coat add needs to be easier to add to sets (should be a 5-slot imo), or non-power coat bows need to get something else really enticing to give them appeal.

Capcom's statement about "not casualized" is completely retarded. casualization isn't even bad. changing weapons in camp now opens up more intimidating weapons like HBG to the masses; oh fuck i ran out of bullets then carted, no biggie swap back to LS. this is a good thing.

I imagine the artists of these series enjoy taking the already stellar visual design of the franchise and putting their own spin on it. The female armour designs can be very cute and/or arousing, and the absurdity inherent to the MH-verse allows for some light hearted comedy to balance out the tone of the story.

Say what you will about fan-fiction and doujins in particular, but some of the characters in this series are quite endearing.

I'm using CFW to play it. I also never really fell to grinding 140s in 4U, that's more something I'd periodically do in turns rooms or with randoms but mostly I just ran expeditions with different weapons for fun and to kill time.

4U actually feels the best to me but I think that's at least like 40% because of the higher framerate (and better textures, for that matter).

I don't know about now, but when I did it it was super easy and surprisingly fast (from descriptions I was expecting it to take like three hours or more, it took less than one), and it was actually very difficult to brick your system- Basically almost every warning about a potential brick came from single anecdotes from guys that didn't seem very smart claiming that one particular thing that nobody could reproduce bricked their system (so they probably actually did something really dumb and didn't want to admit it). For instance the thing about closing a new3ds while it was on the 2.1 firmware causing a brick was non reproducible and I even had a friend who specifically tried that to check and it did nothing, but it was still a big red warning on the guide because of the one guy that claimed it had happened.

besides the main thing, that is tripping literally everyone in the team when you play like a cunt (most ls users play like that), design-wise it a weapon literally made for weebs.
additionaly to all of that, its incredibly fucking easy, heck IMO i think its even easier than sns, since it has not much lower speed, but has way better reach and movement, you dont even need to combo that much with it, since you can button mash and it will work almost the same way.

tl;dr - weapon is piss easy, its really disruptive in multi and most of its users are weebs and/or shitters

At least for Lance the basic attacks are straightforward with precision and nice reach. One issue is that the counter and forward advance aren't entirely foolproof without something like Guard +1/2, but that's generally not as relevant early in the game. Apart from the hopping not being standard for most weapons, I'd reckon it's a fair pick for newbies before they move onto something else.

GL is probably a bit more technical to use. Lots of different explosions.

CB is a little technical to use optimally, but early in a newbie could get away killing shit without learning everything. Whether they stick with it or not is probably determined if they hit a wall in either 4U or what even are Gen's walls anyway though I'd probably think they're more likely to stick with it if they ended up watching a video on the moveset and find out all about the moves they didn't know of before.

Lance is also extremely slow if you don't grasp how and when to charge and shield advance and takes a long time to sheathe. As someone who started with lance and loves lance, when I started I was really disappointed with it and felt like it had horrible mobility and I was unable to hit the monster 90% of the time because it would always move away from me.

I would definitely recommend GS, DB or Hammer to anyone just starting, Bow if they're determined to play gunner from the start. Not that those are the easiest weapons (except GS, which is the easiest weapon), just that they teach you the most universal skills without forming many bad habits (on the contrary, they form almost universally good habits) and the harder points aren't hard in a way that is likely to frustrate a new player.

On the offchance it isn't, your friend is a shitter. Adept is crutchmode (not that there's anything wrong with using a crutch as long as the monster dies and you don't, but if you want to git gud don't use adept unless it's on a weapon like HBG or Lance where it restores its basic functionality from past games), guild is nice for hammer, silver rathalos is an obnoxious monster that you will need to grind a million of if you want the best armour (it's also a poor matchup for hammer in general unfortunately due to its very hard head), what you should actually do is just try predicting where the head will be to hit it with the golf swing (tap r->x->x or just x->x->x for a slower version, the last hit is the golf swing) and try really hard not to hit teammates with it and avoid getting hit by standing a bit to the side while attacking and moving away from where attacks are going to be instead of iframing everything. The other really good armour skills in gen are Weakness Exploit, Critical Boost and any quality of life stuff you personally find important, HG earplugs is a big one for hammer if you can fit it on a set.

Neither hammer nor CB is the best at KO (that's far and away LBG, followed rather closely by IG, with CB in a VERY distant fourth behind HBG in third), but you're fucking retarded if you think CB only does SAEDs or that CB isn't better than hammer at KO (and damage) in both 4U and gen. It does play differently (it's actually a lot harder to use optimally, hammer's hitboxes are deceptively huge and while CB's are even longer they follow erratic paths and are rather thin), but ignoring differences in core functionality and focusing only on power, it is better than hammer in every way save hammer's ability to apply exhaust (the least useful status).

Take these videos. First one there's two KOs, one is procced by a GP and not even an AED, second has three and TWO are by GPs. Most of the AEDs don't even hit the head, because they aren't aiming for the head, that just happens to be the best position to GP M.Tigrex. In the first there is only one SAED, and it's the killing blow. The second has 0 SAEDs (but if he had correctly timed one, he could have gotten an even better time).

You do not understand CB, it seems. The attacks are cutting, but are accompanied by phial charges. GP, shield thrust, shield slash (when you deposit a phial, or even just briefly sheathe your empty sword, then slash while your shield is buffed) and the double swing attack in axemode (and some other axe attacks, but you generally don't use those because you can chain the double swing, which is 2 phials for the price of 1, infinitely with a short non-phial upswing) all apply phials, and phials all apply KO. Furthermore, in 4U, the game this discussion was about prior to my joining it, you only attack the monster normally to replenish phials once your shield buff is up. Otherwise it's all GPs (which deal phial bursts) and AEDs (which deal phial bursts) until that last SAED finisher.
