The coldwar is tricky to use.

In order for it to really be usable you require the following:

>Enemy near surface
>Safe distance
>good connection speed

It's a bit restrictive, but in modes like BH and attrition, it's a beast. It's not a very forgiving weapon, so you will make mistakes and badly when you start using it.

Stay high and fast and you'll thrive.

If the titan sees you, Arc wave him, fire all scattershots at him, reload THEN phase shift, get to the opposite side of your target, if you can drop a smoke, it'll appear in reality, shoot your target more.

If you feel you can take him, keep pushing, and set your ronin to have two arc wave uses. Use your second arcwave, and shoot him again.

If you feel you can't take him, then dash out, blocking and walking backwards while dash cools down.

Never get sword happy, and use cover and movement to your advantage. Bully the titan, make him mad, make him come to you. If there's more than one titan, flee. If your teamates are already engaging a group of titans, try to flank rather than rush headlong.

always keep moving, do not be afraid to run, remember sword core can let you keep constant pressure to a titan simply through its speed, even more so with arc wave, which is upgraded.

Also want to clarify a few things that we bamboolzed you on.

Some balance changes slipped through that were unintentional. As we mentioned in the patch notes we are still debating and testing internally what the final changes will be and they will be implemented in the next DLC drop. They have been turned off and things should revert back except for a couple things:

Amped Weapons: We felt Amped Weapons have been problematic for a while in Titanfall 2 so we put it on a 30 second timer so it's at parity with how other boosts operate.

Stalkers: Stalkers will also cause damage when you run over them with your Titan. This is intended we wanted to prevent one Titan from dominating a drop zone by just dashing over it.


so phase is back to 2 charges, stim back to normal, cant move through friendly reapers. guess thats coming next patch? dunno why they dont just put it in now, its the obvious balance decision. at least for phase and the reaper thing.

yes you are right, i confused shields no longer preventing executions with monarchs shield/chassis kit. my mistake.
regardless, energy siphon gives practically no shields, even with the kit that improves it. thats not where monarch gets all their shields from.
you will eat through the tiny amount of shield that they get in <2 seconds, even if they rearm and do it again as fast as they can.
the only situation where siphon is gonna give a significant amoutn of shields is if a ton of shielded titans are bunched up together in one spot and the monarch is running the aoe kit.
what titan are you playing as to have such trouble against monarch?

burning through the shields fast very much depends on the titan.

coincidentally, i'm mostly salty from playing northstar versus le hitscan man of a billion damage who also removes my only escape option by slowing me, in addition to being impossible to trade evenly against because of shields ruining the burst potential. that being said, not every fight is a manfight. if you use cover and manage your cooldowns, monarch can trade damage all day long without ever losing too much HP.

pretty sure when an amped archer locks onto you it displays if its amped or not now. soft nerf i guess.

strangely i have trouble fighting monarch as northstar as well, but not as any other titan save scorch.
i think winning as northstar(assuming both titans are competent players) is contingent on landing tether traps. you need that cluster missle to hit to eat away the small amount of shields monarch will siphon. i was also considering running double tether and getting in their face to land the tethers and cluster missle and then backing off.
ive also played around with firing half charged shots to get the shield away and then blasting them. have not really played enough of it yet to see if it works. probably not

Because of the horrific match making, all those kick ass things you see the soldier doing in the trailer will be done to you, over and over again. The skill floor in TF2 is what's slowly killing the game.

I like the game but I'm so fucking tired of joining a match and getting pitted by people hundreds of levels higher than I am. It's infuriating to just get killed within moments of spawning by people who have hundreds of hours into the game.

How hard is it to only match people within 50 levels of each other? When you complain about this on the forums they always tell you to "learn to play better". How are you supposed to get the opportunity to learn to play better when you're lucky to stay alive for 60 seconds?

They're right though. Nobody said it was going to be easy. If you want to thrive in the environment you have to learn how to survive in it. This has been the case for high skill ceiling FPS for decades.

its a 2 shot normally, along with the arc effect. 1 shots in sword core. if you run double arc wave kit, its easy to kill a pilot with it. and yes pilots can peek from the ground as well, so it is a useful tool.

both of these things are gonna force the pilot to either move or temporarily stop firing at you. you should be retreating during this time or moving in for the kill if possible.

the range on tripwire is deceptively large. its more accurate to call them proximity mines since thats how they function. they can also be triggered from above, ie a pilot wallrunning above them will trigger them and explode.

on roofs not as reliable yes ill give you that. anywhere else they are great, especially with missle racks.

i dunno what to say here, this is totally not what ive experienced with powershot. if theyre in a building then its pretty much impossible not to kill them with long range power shot.

no i dont play on console. maybe that is why there is such disparity in our apparent experiences with peeking pilots. ive had a fair amount of success with the above listed stuff against pilots peeking. on a roof its harder but not impossible. if i cant kill a peeking pilot in my first few attacks, i just retreat and the problem is solved.

Why the fuck are respawns mapmakers so incompetent? The clipping on Wargames is complete trash... Seriously every tiny ledge lamp, antenna and every tiny piece of decoration is like a sludge of super glue that you get stuck on every single time you try to wallrun or bunnyhop on glitch, it's fucking awful. Same goes for the other TF1 maps. How do you guys not notice any of this during QA? when you kill an AI you get two types of points. One goes directly to your team's score (the blue part), the other is what you deposit in the bank at the end of rounds(the yellow part). that's bonus, and what gets stolen when you get killed. 0 means they deposited all of it.

Sometimes, I just run Phase Rewind, no dice roll, and at the end of the game I eject out of my titan just so I can enter a loop of chaining my stack of rewinds. It's the dumbest thing, but always makes me smile
