Well quite a bit of actions/abilities got culled in this expansion so there is slightly less bloat in my opinion. As for doing main quests, if you no-lifed it for a few days you probably could catch up storywise to the latest expansion but it'd be really draining. Casually probably a couple weeks maybe?

Dungeons and trial fights have tons of videos online for reference if you want, and usually most dungeon boss mechanics can be summed up by someone in your party in a few sentences if you ask them to. Most fun DPS varies who you ask but right now I'm really liking Samurai personally.

To be fair while leveling in SB tanks can barely even tank 2 packs. Mobs hit so hard so that the healer needs to constantly none-stop heal you or you will die, they can't even miss 1 cast.
It's better to just pull 1 pack at those levels so the healer can help with the dps so you can clear the dungeon faster

Noob BRD here with some questions.

- What's the best opener? So far I've been doing: precast foe -> stormbite+bloodletter+raging strikes -> caustic bite+minuet+empyreal -> straight shot+battle voice -> iron jaws+sidewinder -> heavy -> heavy -> heavy+bloodletter -> heavy -> iron jaws+barrage+empyreal arrow-> straight shot -> iron jaws. Does this seem right or is there a better one? I've heard of people saying mage's ballad is better than minuet to start with. Which brings me to my second question.

- What order should I use the songs in? So far I've started with wanderer's minuet, then mage's ballad and finished with army. I've also heard of people starting with mage, then army, then minuet.

- At how many targets should I start using quick nock and rain of death? Also, in aoe situations up to how many targets should I keep my dots on?

- Often when I try to use barrage and empyreal arrow, it ends up not consuming the barrage and the next ability consumes it instead. How to make this not happen?

- Is it best to cast pitch perfect at 2 charges or 3? I've heard people saying 2 is better so you don't waste a proc.

- Am I supposed to make use of The Warden's Paean? I've never used this ability before as last time I palyed was at the end of ARR and it didn't exist back then.

Sorry if they are stupid questions, I haven't played this game in a very long time and with all this new stuff I'm pretty lost, weaving abilities used to be really simple for BRD when I last played and now there's a lot to learn.

SCH is fine, the removal of the Cleric Stance dance mechanic really killed the fun of WHM for me, so I swapped to BLM where I have to dance around two stances.
I don't even need Cleric Stance to negate healing, it'd be fine if Cleric Stance was a dance of +5% damage, -10% healing with nothing else or some shit. Removing the dance made the thing really fucking boring.

This may seem like a dumb question, but whats a good crafting rotation for something as simple as a High Steel Nugget? I have everything at least at 50 but I mainly scraped by on beast tribes and easy crafts.

I forgot to mention that with ironworks i190 perfect meld, they both yield +9000quality which is more than enough to HQ most things in the game (you need HQ ingredients for some others).

Of course if you wanted to optimize the crafting rotation, we'd need to talk longer and I don't feel like typing a guide; i"m sure there's one out there.

I've messed around quite a bit with bard at 70 and my opener is kind of like this:

Get crit buff, apply dots, pop Army's + Foe + RS + Battle Voice, start using heavy shot, when you get straighter shot, hit that barrage + refulgent (hopefully Foe's is still on, but if not it's not a big deal, can't sit around forever and wait)


With a scholar in your party, feel free to use mage's ballad during chain stratagem, as this allows the most out of all your songs.


Basically, if I could have infinite crits: I would choose ballad over anything else, because free 150 pot every second is really cool.


Priority for songs is Army's > Mage's > Wanderer's.

So my thing for AoE pulls is: If there's 4 targets, I just rotate DoTs on them all and Iron Jaws to refresh. Rain of Arrows in between.

More than 4 is usually a bigger pull, so I make sure to DoT one thing, Mage's Ballad and then Rain of Arrows whenever it refreshes while using Quick Knock. Make sure to invigorate + tactician, you will run out of TP faaaast.

Sounds like lag. Throw in another oGCD or put it ahead of your other oGCDs to balance that out.

This is a meme. Unless you have chain stratagem you should use it at 3 always, but use it ASAP don't sit on it.

Yes. Great for clearing stuns/silences/paralyze etc. or if you know a stun is coming up soon you can pre-cast it to nullify it. Very niche ability.

At Lv70, this is how much each stat influences damage output:
Crit is 108.5 stats per % chance and damage
Crit is base 5% chance, 140% damage
DH is 37.5 stats per % chance
DH is base 0%
DH always has 125% damage, no damage scaling
DET is 134 stats per %
SS is 66.3 stats per 0.01GCD, with first GCD at +17

It is worth nothing that for every stat except for DET has a zero value of 364 while SS is a zero value at 292.

Now as stats get higher, your output value becomes relatively weaker. Main stat (STR for tanks) is a 1:1 base value.

So, at current tier left side plus weapon is around 1700 Strength. This means that a strength accessory (+79 strength) is +4.6% and the next one is 4.4% and the next 4.2% so forth.

Now, why is direct hit so good on tanks? Well, Direct Hit has a base starting point of 0 because none of the tank gear has DH on it normally. This means that 150DH is a direct 1% increase on the multiplication of all your other bonuses whereas DET and CRT have suffered decay (as shown by strength above).
