Besides the characters you can usually see in grand finals there was an Andy, Mian, Kim (not all on the same team. The rest of both teams consisted of Kyo, Iori, Kula. I don't recall much more than that since I wasn't paying too much attention since I had other things to do and started watching late myself. IIRC there was also a Yuri and a billy the match before. My guess is that KOF needs to give up on 2D sprites for the sake of cost; it was very expensive both financially and non-financially to make them, so SNK chose the right thing in ditching them.

Not him, while I agree with you with sprites being expensive as fuck and in some aspects 3D being more reasonable. As well as the XIII sprites while at times impressive not being as great as people make them out to be, but for metal slug (the one exception) I'd rather them hold on until they can actually pay for it or find the skills necessary or a way to make it look just as good. I don't think it'd hold the same charm with just any 3D style. No, I wouldn't want it to be dark and gritty and no I wouldn't change the gameplay in such a way that it deviates a lot from what it usually is, in those cases might as well not call it MS anymore and make a new IP. When it comes to MS I'd rather wait a bit more for it. Even if SNK somehow manages to die before that's accomplished, while it may suck ass it still wouldn't be the end of the world.

Some people wend in depth last thread as to why KoF is and will continue to be dead in the water in the US and Europe. In short it won't be because of popularity of other titles in those regions, lack of popularity for KoF in the first place and money. So unless SNK injects capcom cup levels of money (it can't). Forgot to add as for latin america and china, In china wehen it comes to viewership there's nothing to worry about since their tournaments pull 100k+ views easy (recent one got 160k+). As for Latin America, well latin americans barely stream shit (i.e. the world cup qualifier which was pretty big wasn't even streamed). One more thing even if there were tons of streams you still wouldn't hear about them unless you speak those languages or actively look for them. I can tell from observations that some english speakers don't even bother with foreign stuff, hell even for that survey that was going around when it came for their section on stream numbers they didn't even bother reporting chink ones and the damn survey was multilingual. Also as we all know part of the reason SNK games became popular in regions like latin america and china was because of their relative affordability and piracy. I can guarantee that some of the people in those regions wouldn't buy the games if they could avoid it. Piracy is rampant in those regions. Sure in Mexico Neo Geo titles are among the best selling on the switch, but I'm willing to bet most people who play them in Latin America and china emulate them. Hell more people play the games on fucking fightcade.

How many of us own SNK games in one shape or another whether it's on Neo Geo, ps1, sega saturn or even the compilations on ps2 or the digital versions that have been sold? I know that all of us have pirated SNK games at one point or another.

This. Tournaments are fine, but e-sports, the money as mentioned in the past were a mistake. People enter tournaments for whatever pays the most. Even entry fees are climbing higher (evo entry fee for a game is $75 if I'm not mistaken). As soon as this money bubble pops the better. Numbers for all games are lower than last year except for Tekken which had less than 20 more entries so far. One would imagine there would be a lot more because of the console release.

The important difference between the KOF community and other communities is that the KOF community actively hurts itself in ways that others don't. The main console games are not their only source of income, I'd even argue that it's not even their main source. We've discussed this before and other anons have pointed out the huge amounts of cash (at least relative to SNK, they still make chump change when compared to other companies) their mobile division brings in too. Whether they live or die is yet to be seen and will not be determined by one single console game. Also assuming that they do die, it's not the end of the world as one can still play their older games. If they do die it just means they just didn't quite have what it takes to survive. They've been as responsive and supportive as they can be with XIV, it'd be cool if they stayed supportive like that. I'd say it's mostly by people who don't pay close attention to what SNK is doing. I wouldn't expect everyone to do so in the first place, but I would think that of the ones that do pay the closest attention they wouldn't be too worries. I mean SNK has never done as well as other companies in the US and europe. If one followed e-sports like they claim they do they'd know that numbers for all games are down, so it's not just SNK who is in trouble. A bit of confirmation that popularity and money are what people look for, at least in the case of sponsors.
As as it's been mentioned in previous threads, no popularity means no sponsors, no sponsors means no money for players to attend several tournaments, less attendance means smaller tournaments, which means less eyes on it/popularity (it may sound ridiculous, but in today's world of e-celebs and "pro players with hordes of followers it is possible), which means less sponsors then repeat cycle. It's all about money and popularity.

The guy is an echo fox (sponsor) player manager. In the video he mentions support by the publisher (money) or by other investors. SNK has been very supportive in everything except injecting money, which is understandable since they are not in a strong enough financial position to do.

Don't know of anyone here will care, but apparently more stuff about the modes for the arcade version were revealed. There will be Story and training mode. Of course once entering story mode there will be different challenge accepting options. If I'm not mistaken there will be options to take challenges from just within the store location, outside the store location, country wide, and no interruptions (I guess it's vs com only). There will also be 6 button configurations.

As for the character's birthday, I don't expect the person behind the Enta-chan account to be on top of every character's birthday since they have ass loads of characters and since they're only human. Also one thing you're mistaken about, Enta-chan is not the face of SNK as a whole, she's the mascot of their entertainment division (the one that handles licensing and stuff), which was announced since she was introduced in 2016. The account is called SNK entertainment official (in japanese). Just have some patience, they'll come up with something other than KoF sooner or later. Getting worried about it will not make something come out faster, it only makes you have a bad time.

At least from what I've seen from the English speaking side It's that they watch the same people play and the same people play their same characters as before. Which to be fair if one's characters were strong before why bother change them if they're still strong. Also the english speaking scene is pretty small so of course they'll be watching the same people with the same characters play. It doesn't help that many don't bother looking up stuff from different regions or that speak a different language. By far the largest variety I've seen is from the chinese and latin american tournaments and to some extent the few jap ones I've seen. Other than the Guy who won with the Antonov team in Europe the US/English speaking scene is pretty damn stale in comparison. Also not to keep sucking the chinks' dicks, but a lot of the characters that have been emerging I've seen them been used first in chink tournaments. Huge example is Clark. From my observations I've seen people use him more after ET gave Xiaohai a lot of trouble with him. And since so few people seem to watch foreign tourneys adoption of other characters is a bit slow. Just like with any game there are some characters that will have advantages over others, this is not unique to KoF. For the average player this isn't even a noticeable difference, but once a tournament gets closer to grand finals the skill levels is already so high that even small differences matter and as such variety decreased the closer one is to the end of a tournament. Then again they could not be since as mentioned before ET has given people huge amounts of trouble with Clark and Billy who aren't exactly the strongest characters in the game.

Many of the people that I see that claim that XIV is unbalanced often seem to quote the WCS or early broken characters like Nakoruru which took place long before the big 2.0 balance patch. I also see them scrutinize KoF since it's a 3v3, but I also see the same people give MvC a pass which to me is a bit confusing since it's also a 3v3. Crap I guess I just don't know? I don't think I'm good enough to give a concrete answer
