Forces is just going to further splinter an already heavily splintered fanbase and make it that much harder to gauge what people want from 3D Sonic. It's a fucking mess right now. But I guess as long as it's playable no one really cares, so whatever? Kind of unfortunate.

However, Mania knows exactly what it wants to be, despite Iizuka's meddling. It also doesn't hurt that the dev team is full of people who actually know how to make a 2D Sonic game properly. Would this work with fans who know what they're doing with 3D Sonic? I'm not sure. I'd like to see the results of that, though. Certainly would be more interesting than the same old boost2win and half-assed secondary gimmicks.

And not to mention, Buddy's style, while new, doesn't fully deviate from Sonic's core style, like Treasure Hunting, or Mech Shooting did. In many ways, it still does what you expect from a Sonic game & I don't see it causing much of a divide at all. Nip has an advantage in that burger has no past music of its own. Still, somw places like Quartz Quadrent and Stardust sound simply amazing on the burger tracks.
