Doesn't have to be clawshots exactly, just whatever equivalent might make sense. Would be nice to be able to do it in more locations other than a dungeon. They were mostly for City in the Sky, but you used them for a heart piece or two as well and that was about it I think.

To be honest,I think I miss proper dungeons and items now, as much I love this game. I wonder if they can do something like that for next time now that they know people like the open world idea. Went back and played some older games and spending 200 hours in BotW hasn't lessened by opinion of them. But instead I find myself wondering what aspects could and couldn't work in an open world like BotW, like items, dungeons in an open world and shit like that. Don't know what would be the new equivalent of shrines and the slate though, if they've moved away from things like heart pieces. It's a long way off, but I sometimes think as I'm exploring BotW's world that how do they top this and still have it feeling fresh and unique?

That hammer is an npc only weapon. In fact, it's a generic model that they scale up and down as needed. The Zora craftsman that you can give luminous stones to has the exact same hammer, but scaled down to be tiny. It even still has the Goron symbol on it.

Man, boomerangs really suck now. I mean I know they aren't an integral item anymore, but they're so underwhelming to use now, if you can even find a decent one.

I am assuming that Urbosa is is Riju's grandmother.

But even if that's the case I really wonder if it was always meant to be like that.
One notable mention I'd say is the dialogue when first talking with Buliara's mother Rima. Where she explains that she thought that she'd be able to relax after she was able to retire with Buliara taking her place. But she also strongly hints at recognizing Link, was it just not for his Gerudo disguise.

But if Rima actually knew Link from back when she was the royal guard, it must have been from when Urbosa was the chief considering how Link was in a coma for the following years.
I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that Urbosa is simply Riju's grandmother. But I really do doubt if that was always the case. At one point in development Urbosa may have very well have been Riju's mother directly.

No matter the case though I really do wonder what kind of lifespans the Gerudo typically have. Is Rima by any chance an Impa level granny? And would that be exceptional or typical for a Gerudo?

I used to think boomerangs were utterly awful for basically my full playthrough of BotW. But after messing around in the post game I've come to realize that I greatly underestimated the boomerangs for the entire game.

Of course you don't find any Lynel level or Ancient++ level boomerangs. But for the early to mid game they're actually pretty great. And can still be decent at times even later.
For some reason I never considered the fact that a thrown boomerang, just like any thrown weapon, still does double damage. Except that a boomerang doesn't shittily break upon being thrown like other thrown weapons. And if thrown skilfully you can reliably pick up after throwing it almost every time. And what's more, due to the curve you can learn to attack multiple enemies all at once with it.

Double damage with the tri-boomerang does some real work if you use it properly.

Does anyone else here feel like this game is about Zelda in the same way that Twilight Princess was about Midna? Like you exist to drive the story but everything seems to focus on her instead of you. All the character development is hers, the characters mostly are only interested in her. She's the main focus of the story while your actions are just a way to drive it forward.

I can see that, yeah. Honestly though, I think it's about Link and Zelda as a pair. I mean, it kind of always is, but this is the first time other than Wind Waker where we've had real in depth characterization for either of them beyond just CHOSEN HERO and IS PRINCESS, and they share a lot of similarities with each other. You kind of have to dig for the info, but Link and Zelda parallel each other in a lot of ways. I think ultimately the message was that the two are them are really not very different, despite regarding each other like they're from different worlds.

I noticed this consistency in the Zelda games a while ago. In this game it's personal isolation where he's shut himself up inside himself. This is the first time somebody so important for the plot has actually shared Link's isolation though. While the memories involve Link they're all about Zelda and what she's going through, and then you read her diary and see that Link's going through the same thing, you just don't see it because you're not supposed to.
I think that's the reason I got so attached to this Zelda. The two had a lot of chemistry before you died.

If nintendo was inclined to do another massive open world Zelda game, I think it would be great to have a Hyrule at its height where Link is a vagabond and you get to see an enormous Hyrule with dozens of villages and settlements and all the races have a large footprint in the kingdom.
I'd kill to see BotW's Hyrule at its height. I just walked through the Tabantha village and it just smacked home with me how huge the kingdom was before everyone got blown up. Seeing even just the Great Plateau in full splendor would have been fantastic.

So I was replaying Link to the Past, and I still wonder, why did Link become a bunny in the dark world? That one character said the dark world changes you to reflect their true nature, so what in Link's nature makes him a bunny?

I mean, I get that he's just a kid and is supposed to be very innocent, but by this point in the game he's very nearly proven himself worthy to wield the master sword. The kid broke into the castle, fought monsters, and was tasked by the princess to save the world. I don't get "timid bunny" from a guy willing to kill wizards and monsters.

Of course, gameplay wise I know it's to help move the story along as they needed a way to hinder you in order to encourage you to go get the moon pearl, but still.

Should have worded it differently. Yes, it gives 80%, but Guardian weapons incur a 30% bonus damage buff (50% for tech lab ancient weapons) but only to Guardians, but that bonus can stack with that 80% set bonus along with other attack up effects to achieve some massive damage against Guardians. Even if it's not Guardians, that 80% boost along with attack up foods and potions is still pretty high and works better that the Barbarian set, which you cannot stack the attack up effect with since said food and potions provide the same attack up effect as what the set gives. The Barbarian set works for you if you don't use ancient/guardian weapons and great for what you get off Lynels and/or don't like Ancient Armour.

Someone has probably done the intricate math somewhere, but the ability to stack attack up effects along with ancient proficiency is the main draw, while also being able to stack the 30% (Guardian)/50% (tech lab Ancient) weapon bonus vs Guardian enemies.

How did those treehouse DLC streams go? Did they spoil locations of the new gear and most of the rooms of the Master Sword trial, or was it simply playing the game and dicking about with the gear already in the inventory from the start, and just showing what they look like and what they do? I was actually really impressed with the way the Master Trial looked. And I am also very intrigued by the fact that the trial takes place inside of the master sword itself, picture very related.

But I have also really been looking forward to the hard mode myself. I know that people might worry that higher ranked enemies might just end up being a sponge fest. But personally, I feel like it'll finally give me an excuse to finally use all of that end game gear to its full extent. And finally let loose.
As it currently stands I always have nothing but the best equipment in the game on me. Even if I intentionally ditch all the stuff it doesn't take long before my inventory is full of it again.

Of course, higher ranked enemies will naturally drop better weapons like always. But it'll still feel really good to actually wreck havoc fully with the best weapons. As it have been, you pretty much kill all the enemies instantly of an enemy group, with the exception of the silver enemy that is typically the only the enemy that'll stand up again. After which you have a slight little 1on1 before you get that enemy as well. With the update the group battles may still rage on. And that actually excites me.

But I have mostly been looking for an excuse to play the game all over again. And the fact that the DLC comes with a second save slot for the hard mode is the best news so far as far as I am concerned. I'll probably just start a new game for hard mode and not even take a look at the master trials until I reach the master sword all over again but for hard mode this time.
And the idea of using my knowledge of the game now that I've already play it, to complete things faster than the first time I went through the game, even though it'll be the hard mode. Is also something I find a bit exciting.

Of course. I really do hope the second DLC pack is where it's at but I should probably try to not place my hopes too high up.
All that said. I hate the idea of that Switch shirt chest even existing in my game at all though.

I want to see what these so called "hints" Nintendo refer to are as to the whereabouts of the gear. It'll encourage some more exploration for me. I should probably go dark until I experienced the rooms and found the gear on my own merit, a day before release that is. Same will go for DLC2.

Feeling like there could be some surprises for some of the rooms, but I won't hold my breath. I've been disappointed before, like when I was hoping all of the new gear would have some new effects in some way. I mean, it is DLC gear. Other than the Korok mask they're pretty standard. From what I heard Majora's Mask looked like some stealth up item, and Midna's helmet had a Guardian resit effect for whatever reason and that the Phantom armour was an attack up set. I'd put a cheeky fiver on a gold Lynel appearing in a room in any case, but I'm talking about real surprises. Like you expect it to just be a higher quantity of standard enemies but something completely new is thrown in or whatever.
