Their early work was a little too clunky for my taste, but when Demon's Souls came out in '09, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically.
The whole game has a well crafted, ingenious level design, and a new dynamic combat system that really gives the encounters a big boost. It's been compared to Dark Souls, but I think Demon's has a far more grim and refined atmosphere.
In '15 From released this; Bloodborne, their most accomplished game. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Ludwig the Accursed", a boss so engaging, most people don't listen to the dialogue. But they should! Because it's not just an extremely relevant and historic character in the lore, it's also a paradigm of the theme of duality between righteous saint and bloodthirsty beast in men! You can use any STR or SKL weapon in the game to great effect. It's generally best to level some VIT and END first before focusing on attack stats, since the scaling doesn't do much until you upgrade your weapons a bit

The idea around lowish level metas is that it makes builds varied. You need to sacrifice something in exchange for another. High level metas make it so everyone can be a little good at everything.

Anyone else feel like Bloodborne base game NG difficulty is too easy?

Sure, at the beginning it's pretty hard , but that starts to change prettt early on because of all the multiple avenues like chalice dungeons and side areas you can do which increase your level gain significantly. A lot of players end up in the 100+ range by the time at the nightmare of mensis or even yahargul which completely trivialize end game content like the dlc.

Brew is kinda useless at 30 Arc, you'll want 50+ for it but if you're not going 50/50 then I'd drop it. At least 15 for the other Tools, maybe 18 for Augur. I'd start with Lone Survivor instead for Loch Shield and get 8 Blt for Repeating Pistol if you're gonna use BMA for your shots.

LS: 50/11/11/50/8/18 puts you at 98. If you really want Brew at 30 Arc then drop some out of Vit (no more than 10).

Leveling BLT early is a pretty awful choice since you basically only have access to guns until you get Chikage/Bloodletter/Bowblade way later into the game.

It's perfectly salvageable though, you haven't made any fundamental mistakes in your build (assuming it's a dedicated Chikage build), so once you get enough echoes to fix your shit (get VIT to 30 next, seriously) you'll be fine.

Blt and Arc builds can cheese it with projectiles, there aren't really any cheeses for melee. When he goes down to shoot blood, that's the best time to hit the arms. Try to bait and outspace slams. When he punches the ground, dodge under after the 2nd punch and hit the legs. You'll want to make sure you're ready to dodge his swipes as he turns around. Same goes for the 2 swipes he does. When he's pushing up on you, bait a slam. Lock on to face him, lock off to dodge under and attack.

The setup you should probably farm is

>Radial Cold Abyssal
>Triangle 27.2% fire gem
>Waning Cold Abyssal with flat fire

Alternatively you can go for the setup you mentioned, the differences are extremelyl marginal, and come down to things like weapon attack multipliers and stuff. I'm not certain what the differences would be at 50 ARC (or if there are any at all), but at 70 ARC the setup you mentioned is better for R1 attacks only, and the setup I mentioned is a tiny bit worse but better on transformation attacks and charge attacks.

I don't know why a 3rd Cold Abyssal isn't better, all I know is that if I slot one into my weapon over a % gem it's worse, even with 70 ARC.

Yes, but it's incredibly rare. I'd say it's about as likely to drop as a bolt gem from pthumeru watchers.

Pthumeru isn't necessarily meant to give you elemental gems. Settle for cold abyssals with +% vs open foes instead.

Don't waste time with isz watchers. Not only will you have slightly less damage overall, but elemental triangles from watchers are not a common drop.

They most likely did, since they're using whatever church weapons available. Alfred is using a Kirk when you summon him for BSB/Cleric Beast. The regular executioner enemies are using regular axes, the nightmare executioners use church cannons. This is my headcanon, but chances are Ludwig himself was an executioner because:

The "band of executioners led by Martyr Logarius" part in my humble optinion simply refers to a certain squad of many death squads of the Church.

Trick weapons have been tried, but historically making weapons more complicated has always been a bad idea. Battle puts a fuckton of stresses on things. It's historically been hard enough to make a solid steel sword that won't get totally fucked up within 3 strikes.
