Monster Hunter Freedom Unite!

I wish they hadn't completely removed underwater combat. The idea is good, it was just the controls that were a bit eh.

You could have easily improved those though over the years and brought underwater back better than ever. Monsters like lagi just aren't the same on land.

P3rd is significantly easier and well paced, you wont be fighting one of the most difficult monsters in the series early in the game like you would in FU.

FU is 2nd gen and has a shitload of stuff. Also in english.

P3rd is 3rd gen, more polished, QoL changes, new stuff, etc. but less content overall. Also in japanese, translation patch only translates the bare minimum for a veteran to get around, which means training school and info magazines which teach you how to play aren't translated. You could just got read a bunch of FAQs and watch youtube videos but that kills part of the charm.

As a new player going through FU, it wasn't that hard. If you hit him on the head a couple times he stops having that wind aura, also he spams the "wind breath" move a lot which leaves him open to attack.

I played all styles of Lance and I always though guard lance was super cool but the monsters would always charge past you and you'd usually miss your moves. That and it was also really hard to stick to more mobile monsters, especially online with other people.
