Okay, since we're arguing about Celica being way too eager to sacrifice her soul, can we talk about how when Jedah first talks to her, she isn't really all that onboard with the idea until he said "Oh, and maybe Alm will stop fighting if you do this"? It's almost certainly the same reason she went off on Alm when they first met at the end of Part 2, and the game makes her look crazy because it's not showing why she's acting like this in either case: she's acting off that stupid dream she has in Part 2's beginning of Alm getting himself killed by Rudolf. All she's thinking about is "Alm fights Rudolf = dead Alm = profound sadness", yet she somehow completely missed the part where SHE'S FUCKING DEAD in that scenario, so she doesn't consider that sacrificing herself could very well lead to that scenario anyway.

So yeah, she's definitely kind of dumb, but I can at least understand why she was being dumb.

Try using a tanky Ruby Sword or a red armor like Draug or Zephiel who can just shrug off Legion attacks. If it can keep them distracted well enough, you can focus on killing everything else off little by little. The Heavy Lance Lunge cavalry is probably the most annoying thing to deal with if you can take out the Brave Bow early on.

You're also missing some other important points. Celica's soul also would've saved Duma and Mila from going totally crazy and completely fucking Valentia up. Now, Jedah was probably bullshitting about Mila but he DID want to save Duma, that's a fact. And a non crazy Duma is better than a crazy Duma. For all intents and purposes, Duma was a pretty cool god. Also, consider the fact that Mila sealed the falchion so Alm had no way of beating Duma and would've gotten rekt.

The whole point of War Cleric is to get renewal and get out. If you can get a high enough axe rank for bolt axes though, you might do okay in there.

Malig Elise in Fates follows a similar principle, except since she loses out on staves for that class change, she has to either go in with tomes, or arms scroll for Bolt Axes.

I'm an old Fire Emblem fan. I played Awakening and I hated the whole marriage waifu thing, I've tried Fates (Conquest to be more specific) and despite being challenging I hate the game and its story. Can I just skip Fates into Echoes? I've read that Echoes is more like GBA games.

Echoes is a remake of Gaiden, the only GBA it might remind people of is Sacred Stones, since that had a world map, monsters, and skirmishes like Gaiden did. Well, one of the postgame enemy types DID remind me of the endboss of Blazing, I guess. There's a lot of new mechanics though like dungeoning and skills attatched to weapons.
