Federation Force isn't even a bad game, it's a pretty good co-op romp for what it is. I think now that the series is in a better place and rejuvenated, people are gonna look back at it more fondly ala Prime Pinball and the likes, rather than through sensational drama.

If you can read moon, are into weebshits, and willing to import your games, I'd say get the Vita first. The library can last you an entire gen. While many people will say it's an amazing machine, it has many downsides. You might want to ask Vitagen about it.

It only has two faults really: oversensitive diagonals on the D-Pad and no analog triggers.

The first is only a problem fighting games the second for car racing games which hardly ever exist on Nintendo consoles after the fucking Gamecube so it's kind of a moot point.

Holding them controller style is kinda crappy though, I will admit. Too small to be comfortable, joystick feels too high and awkward, and no D-pad Joycon yet. Though I don't feel like you're supposed to be holding it like that for long periods of time, since holding a Joycon like that is only really for quick multiplayer games.

You use NFC that much? And true wired control is a pretty big deal in the 'pro features' department. Reducing input lag is awesome all around, should a game demand precise timing, and will be much better than wireless when classic games eventually come.

Fair enough, I used my amiibos in BotW too, thought mostly save scumming / scanning for the NES link costume. It does seem like a weird caveat; it must just turn off all wireless communication altogether for the controller, and there's probably no mechanism to send that NFC data via a wired connection would be my guess. Just a design issue.

It's a long story, but basically I was in the same boat. I got a 3DS XL when they were new(ish), and literally couldn't stand the hinge, it drove me insane. The 2DS came out and I was like 'this is literally all I've ever wanted', so I sold the XL and got the 2DS and played the shit out of it. Pokemon regular New 3DS comes out, I'm like 'oh it's smaller so the hinge won't be as bad', so I got one. I was wrong, not as bad as the XL, but still extremely irritating, so I literally did a 'call Nintendo' system transfer, lost all my streetpasses and shit to switch back to my 2DS and sold the Pokemon 3DS for what I paid for it. I pre-ordered a new 2DS XL as soon as I could because it looks great, and I want my VC copy of EarthBound to work again; I've got high hopes. I'll probably just deal with it regardless on the 2DS XL at this point, but overall, the hinge thing was a fucking nitemare. Sorry for the blog post, I have strong feelings about that damn hinge.
