Unsolved questions from last thread:

>1, When you gene mod a species their species portrait changes in the species menu. What is the rule for this change?
>I have several different species portraits and every one of them seems to be tied to a biome type. For example, subspecies with ammonia preference always use the same species portrait.
>How is it defined which one the game will use?

>2, How do you fix the miniaturized portrait bug?
>Changing the scaling to 2.0 doesn't solve it.

>3, Stellaris is critically low on anime mods, don't you guys agree?
>We need to create MOAR for great justice.

>I mean when will Animaris be finally fixed? Can't we just get to it and fix the mod ourselves?

I was reading discussion about Stellaris reverting back to 1.6.2, cuz multiplayer update not working for large part of community. And saw interesting thing. Every post with even slight sign of disappoitment was ignored or shitposted to the ground. Going back to begining of my adventure with Stellaris (Leviathans) Paradox couldn't handle fixing game properly. However we achieved 1.6 Fixpack patch, and Paradox failed hard. They introduced more important bugs than they fixed. But ppl still defended them. Paradox promised not to make such error (rushed release of unpolished patch), yet same stuff happens literally next patch. Half of the patch does not work. I open discussion, and I see compliments"it was brave move", "it wasn't their fault" etc.
Honestly, I don't get it. Paradox fucked up hard. After their recent promise, they failed to deliver. Id expect outrage. Yet, nothing like this happens. Before you shitpost me to the ground, could you explain me your reason behind defending Paradox? Explain me why community seems to be ok with this shitty quality of new patches? Im really curious.

Does anyone have any clue what sort of insanity could result in me getting 15 inflence per pop on every Ark in the empire, including this one which only has food luxury upgrade and a pop bump.
>>
>>179981840

People don't outrage because paradox "apologised". It's the abusive partner relationship - "they'll change, they won't hit me again, they won't beat me bloody again" and so on.
>>
>>179981891
What did you use for luxury resource plans?
>>
>>179981891

Probably got the influence module on the ark m8
>>
>>179981931
As I said, food luxury +4/pop. The only thing that should be giving me free inflence is Amoeba Groupthink But it's supposed to give 20/10 per alliance/peace, not 15 flat PER POP, I have no other empire wide influence modifiers that I know of.

>Before you shitpost me to the ground, could you explain me your reason behind defending Paradox?
Dude, nobody here defends Paradox. They get shitted on on a daily basis.
>>
>>179981840
There are always fanatic shills, god knows why. There are people right now that argue in favor of Paradox raising prices all across the board.
But the majority is pretty mad at them.
>>
>>179981907
Its really scary, I start to notice a pattern: If you dont buy the Dlcs your game will be worse then before.
>Oh we buffed the crisis events into the hundred thousands! Wouldnt it be convenient to get thet 50% extra damage perk available only in the barebones 20$ Dlc?
>Oh we buffed AE so they have ginormous deathstacks! The +33% Damege Dlc perk wold be nice to have, right?
>Oh, terraforming is slow and not viable? How about a flat +100% extra tf speed buff? Dlc only!

The same shit is in their other games, like eu4, see institutions.

Two words for you: Praise Diversity!
>>
>>179982148
And why the fuck are thy charging 20 ( twenty) Dollars for their Utopia Dlc?

We get:
>Hivemind, extremely barebones and actually removes(!) events and flavor from the game
>"Megastructures" half of which arent even viable (40000 minerals for 100 energy, what a deal!)
>Ascensinon perks most of which are value changes and tech unlock (Mastery of nature: gain 10 free techs and value change, Master builders just value change, Galactic contender: value change)

Thats basically it. What the fuck Paradox, thats the price of the base game for this? And what are thy doing? Fixing the game we bought? No shitpost on Twitter (Le COVFEFE XD) And flag " abusive" comments on Steam. Fucking faggots, respectfully go fuck yourself.

Okay, I mock the Scottish for being retarded, but they're actually pretty buff in that game.
Their "advanced" melee unit, the swordsman. Fully upgraded, it deals 35 damage (of an unusual type), ADDED to the formation damage (which can go to +7, and it doesn't need an officer, so no upkeep), it has +80% more HP compared to a pikeman, is a bit faster, and has very solid defense (except against bullets).

Thei downside is that the building to train them is expensive and they're slow to build (7 seconds), but Fuck, they're like horseless cavalry.
>>

20170617134154_1.jpg
1MB, 1639x476px
And as if the swordsmen weren't enough, the Scottish also have an unique cannon, the frame gun.
It replaces the multi-barreled gun, but has a bigger range, and can attack buildings. It behaves like a smaller cannon, with less damage (500) but a better rate of fire. It also eats iron and coal like there's no tomorrow. If this was KanColle instead of Cossacks, I'd make an Akagi joke.

And if that wasn't enough, the Scottish also have archers, who are a joke against the infantry, but are very good against buildings.
>>

20170616040529_1.jpg
2MB, 1533x985px
But if they're fun to play, Scotland has several massive flaws :
- only two ranged infantry : the XVIIth musketeers, and the archers,
- no heavy cavalry, and no ranged cavalry either, their two cavalry units are light,
- no XVIIIth century, so no balloon to uncover the map (if you play with fog of war, it's an issue).
- England laughs at you if you play them.

Nope. Colonies have a pop amount. Civilian liners will transport colonists around these planets depending on where they're needed. Luna was still a source for colonists, so Pritchard Limited kept transporting people there for decades despite Mars and Gaul (my new planet) having much less population. So, by making Earth stable (no emigration or immigration), I made Luna the sole source for colonists in my empire.

This is my destroyer design

Before this, I had to design the sensors, the kind of engine my missiles had, then the missile itself, not to mention the tube where these missiles launch from. Can't have a size 8 missile in a size 6 missile tube. And you need a good range to launch those missiles.

I set up gauss turrets (Design the gauss gun itself, then make a turret for it) with a fire control for PD purposes. For that, I needed a sensor that can detect missiles. So in the end, I have multiple sensors in one ship for multiple purposes since resolution (A missile can be 1 HS, a ship can be 60 HS) directly affects distance.

They fucked up, but specifically hard? I don't know. It felt like a mild annoyance.
I started up the game, saw that 2 of my mods didn't work for 1.7.2, decided to wait with playing, then saw that those two mods later worked, but not my 3rd mod because it was for a future version now.
It was dumb, but I just kept playing at a later moment since I am not specifically looking for drama and reasons to shit on paradox, there's plenty of legitimate stuff I can complain about with paradox and their games already.

The difference between the Stellaris Whiteknights and the HOI 4 forum is insane.

Both games are going through the same issues with shit AI, and crap patching, along with similar DLC rip-offs.

The HOI4 forum is rightly taking Paradox as a developer AND a publisher to task for their ongoing fuckups, while the Stellaris forum is sucking hard dick. When was the last time

It's like they don't even realise there's no Ubisoft or EA pushing these broken updates, failing to hire QA staff, and letting their devs go live with untested updates before another set of holidays, and having too many artists and not enough coders & testers.

There hasn't been many patch rollbacks. I found a few one in Street Fighter because it installed a rootkit.

It's a colossal fuckup that should see people fired.

But nah, let's all give them kudos for making "a hard decision". A "hard decision" would be stopping the flood of poorly made DLC"s for HOI4 & Stellaris, cutting un-necessary artists and not concentrating on fixing the game as it stands.

How many artists do they have?

I can understand them for having a year round art team that works on dlc after the game is "done", just so they don't have to fire the artists every time they're done with a base product, but it doesn't seem like these games should require that many to be honest.

>>
>>179997789

You don't (probably do though) understand how embed works.

Here's a link:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeGv-QtHyaA

If you have embed enabled, you can see that at the end of the link, it says "(Embed)". If you were to copy that link without paying attention, you would also copy the (embed) part. It's very easy to do when someone wants to make a new thread ASAP and all the pastebin links would get (Embed) next to them, thus starting the chain anew. It would then be up to the next person to remove them, however, if they also rush a thread, there would be (Embed) (Embed) at the end of the link.

I know you're just taking the piss, and I know I'm wasting my time, but fuck it, enjoy the music.

there's a short story written by jeff spock, amplitude's narative director, about the grey owl, a hissho ship; because the prologue was written from the perspective of a vaulter diplomat/historian who found the logs on the crashed ship, it's safe to assume that the grey owl was the quest victory ship

going back to that trailer, you can clearly see the emblem of the hissho on its side when it zooms past the camera - put two and two together, it's the grey owl

also, just to note, larger ships in ES2 have a bit of a dust residue when they warp in while attacking another fleet - one that is very similar to the dust explosion in the trailer; combine this with the fact that vaulters are amplitude's pet faction and yet are the only ES1 faction to not have a spiritual successor faction/be completely absent from ES2, it's entirely possible that they made it out fine
>>
>>180015523
The crystal is a fair point, I thought that looked significant but, having not played
>>180015967
Same as with any other faction.

1) Pick your priorities, I'd advise Ind>S>D>Inf>F
2) See what gets you most of what you are currently building up.

So for example early game as is with pretty much everyone you want production. For example, if you have a lava plant than creating a riftborn and putting him there would get you production more efficiently than building an industy building. Just keep in mind that riftborn generate All 3 of your top priorities so building them often is a very good idea, but don't overdo it. At about 3 building more becomes a balancing act, at 5 - prohibitively expensive.

>>180016209
>when to make colony ships as
>as riftborn

As often and as many as you can afford without crippling your industrial growth.
>>
>>180015026
>>180015523
It's more likely the ship from dungeon of the endless. Vaulters are the devs waifus, there's zero chance they won't be a faction later.

>it's entirely possible that they made it out fine
That begs the question - how. Tho it's always possible that they made it out settled somewhere and then, perhaps on a track back to auriga to get more people out, ship blew up.

pilgrims are an entirely different faction from ES1, while mezari are similar, they are NOT the people who crashed on auriga when it was a barren wasteland, and they are not the ones who won; in ES2, mezari literally just means "precursor human". they are also completely different mechanically when we take the ES1 vaulters mechanics into consideration.

as for how they survived, like i said, when larger ships jump into battle in ES2 they have a dust residue from coming out of FTL VERY similar to that in the new beginning trailer

very bad at growing food, but are unique in that they're pretty much the only faction that actively THRIVES during wars of attrition, and in fact default to that in order to survive; gain food bonuses from killing enemies, can only be at cold war or war, can sacrifice their population to get happiness bonuses, big damage over time effects, cost-effective units, and can spawn fodder units from killing enemies
>roving clans
you can PICK UP YOUR CITIES AND MOVE THEM, allowing you to cut off enemies from expanding, reposition your city to more favorable locations for terrain or trade routes, or flat out get them out of danger; you can see every single marketplace transaction, gain a 10% cut of all deals made on the marketplace, and can flat out BAN PEOPLE FROM USING IT; all your units have cavalry speed and mercenaries from the marketplace have x3 health (synergizing with privateers, which lets you disguise mercenary-only armies as roaming minor faction hordes and ignore diplomatic relations), but you cannot declare war
>ardent mages
you can spend dust to drop down pillars that apply effects like increasing FIDSI, dealing damage to enemies, or speeding up allies on all adjacent squares, OR cast powerful, tactical magic in the midst of battle, while all of your units are super glass-cannons that deal exponentially more damage the more life they lose; their third unit can even resurrect after a battle

you can see every single faction's starting position from day 1, you can FORCE PEOPLE TO ACCEPT TRUCES, PEACE TREATIES, OR ALLIANCE INVITATIONS, and you produce a shitton of influence; your units are really beefy and you have a ton of flying units, and they all gain experience at insane rates
>cultists
one city challenge, but actually great; you spend influence to convert minor faction villages, which leech resources and FIDSI from their home region, give you an extra pop in your city, and produce free armies that snowball into giant waves of throwaway troops with an elite core of actual cultist units; any cities that you take get INSTANTLY RAZED and give you industry and science bonuses that scale with the population of the city
>forgotten (shadows expac)
all of your units are INVISIBLE and dual wield weapons, you can't interact with science at all and instead have to buy and steal technologies and you have amazing spies and hero synergy
>allayi (shifters expac)
very small number of cities, but your units are largely immune to terrain and have insane speed so you cover the entire map to grab every single pearl in the game; not only are you not really affected by winter (which hurts everyone else except for vaulters and high-level cultists really badly), but your units ACTIVELY GET STRONGER during winter, and you have the best military unit in the game
>morgawr (tempest expac)
stupidly broken, near-completely incontestable in the sea; translate naval dominance into a huge influence gain, which you use to put black spots (all other factions ignore diplomacy with that faction and gain dust from killing their units), MIND CONTROL minor faction units, and cause minor faction villages to un-pacify and start spawning units as you rise from the depths to sow havoc

Should they have waited and released the patch a few days later once they had fixed it up more? Sure. But they did still a bug patch and still fixed it.

You faggots need to go look at the support other 4x games get. Pro tip its fucking zero. At least Stellaris is updating frequently.

>>
>>180056087

>>
>>180056140
I'd imagine that the initial release sales period was harmed by bugs. Even if the game is playable now it really wasn't in the release or day 1/2 patches. I think steam reviews were mixed for a while.
They really shouldn't have released it a day early even if it was for completion of the ARG.
>>
>>180056140
Its simplistic and does nothing well that other 4x games dont already do.

4x is a niche genre, if you want to do well in it you have to be unique. ES2 isnt deep enough to beat any old school 4x game which is what hardcore 4x players play and it isnt fun enough to appeal to casuals since it has no combat.

So it just sits in this grey zone of being shit at everything and appealing to no one.
>>
>>180054083
lol, why?
I had to go offline in steam and try it to see if it was true.

No reason as far as I understand it.

I played for years with a pirated version, no problems, then I got a legit version since I thought it deserved it, and now that version is inferior to the pirate version.
>>

ES2 would be absolute killer if it had battles like Ghotic Armada. It would be like a transition of a total war game to space.
>>

They completely utterly fucked themselves thinking anyone would play a modern 4x without fun combat. All the depth of dealing with your empire is just busy work until you get to smash your hard earned cruiser into the enemies anus.

>One of the fraction of a percent of Cravers who became a queen, the Endless took Oroyo as a test subject in order to mutate her body to create eggs that would provide larger, stronger, more dangerous warriors. The advanced cybernetic systems they used proved too much for her simple Craver nervous system, and the resulting neuronal overload was almost lethal.
The Virtuals decided to save her, however, and applied enough of their own technology to re-create her persona in an artificial brain. The side effects, unsurprisingly, were numerous. The explosive growth in brain capacity led to eidetic memory and a linked obsessive fascination for seemingly pointless data, as now she had the ability to note and track innumerable details.
With this capacity, however, came a great deal of information that she should not have had, and Freed used her own enhanced intellectual capacity to infiltrate and spike the Virtual network – murdering the entire lab system in which she was being held. She launched herself on an Anti-Endless rampage – Concrete and Virtual alike – until the resources of a small fleet were turned upon her and she was finally captured and frozen for study.
The details of how and why she was discovered and freed her have never been made public, though she is now available for hire as a freelance Hero.

Amplitude is known to have very little to no advertising budget, which is how a LOT of games these days actually rake in sales, regardless of their quality. Over half of a game's AAA budget is advertising these days. I'm not trying to give ES2 too much merit but it its an unusual business strategy that undoubtedly saves them a LOTTT of money, so each sales nets way more money even though it is on a much larger scale.

What does it have to do with what I said? Your codemonkeying or being in bed with "scene" is of no relevance here.
You have one platform which delivers shit straight from the oven with no delay, but requires money. On the other side is the platform which always have a delay on releases (exacerbated by Early Access with its daily updates) and non-zero probability of fucking up your PC. I wonder what an average would Joe choose? Especially since he has disposable income due to being a normie.
I didn't get infected from torrents either, but I did encounter totally-not-suspicious files which come with cracks and they were going straight into quarantine. Still, buying shit with 3 clicks is better than searching for a right release and hoping the creator didn't put sophisticated malware in it.

I really don't get how ES2 combat can be summed up as "Rock paper scissors". Sure some things are better against other things but weaker against third things, but that's foundation of any strategy game. Positioning, tactics choice, tech level, knowing when it's best to use mixed fleet, is where fun ES2 combat lies, not simple "I chose beams because the other guy chose armor". Those saying otherwise need to git good or go play MP against people who actually provide a challenge.

I think it's because Missiles are countered by kinetics, I'm not that familiar with ES2, I don't like the races for such a storyline based game, or that games are so short compared to SOTS or Stellaris same reason why I don't play Civ.
>>
>>180090473
>Missiles are countered by kinetics
Yeah, but if you are using better missiles than the other guy's kinetics this won't save him. Also it won't save him if you have a missile swarm and he has only a couple token PD ships. Nor will it help him if your fleet is only half missiles and the other half, for example, beams. Etc, etc.

If you're using mods as a solution, your argument is immediately invalid. Game developers shouldn't be relying on their community to make their game not shit.

It's why many people still consider Skyrim to be a shit game.
>>
>>180090473
>Not fixing some of the minor issues with Stellaris with mods yourself.
A game shouldn't need mods to be good.
Mods are here to expand a game's lifespan by offering more content. It shouldn't fix a game.

You don't fucking sell a ruined car and say "lol just put some paint over it and fix it urself lmaoooo".
>>
>>180091037
I don't like playing multiplayer because I don't like having to invest hours into not fucking things over for someone else, think mobas.

this forces me to go singleplayer and play against AI and because you have set races like in ES2, the AI for these set races don't really act in a different manner, ie England generally does X India more or less goes for Y.

Longer games tend to run out that period a bit longer which makes it a more worthwhile but I have a problem where I don't really play differently each game which causes this issue.
>>
>>180091037
not that guy but my main complaint of ES2 is that the games are decided very early on. Meaning the last two rings of the tech trees are usually all but useless, i've already pretty much won the game by the time i've gotten to those techs.

Day six of the /vg/ league starts in 20 minutes. We are playing the second match of the day (about 50 minutes time) and we are playing the X-COM general in a pretty hype match up.

If we win or draw we will be playing in the finals next week.

Stagnant, end-turn spamming endgames are the worst thing in any game. At least Stellaris has the crises to keep the OP in check and might stop them winning. Total Warhammer's chaos invasion is good for that, too. when Chaos invade, everybody loves each other and allies each other, then when the invasion is stopped, everybody fucking HATES each other like nothing else. Another good thing Total War does is the short and long victories. There's always a point in a game where you know you've won, at TW seems to be the only game that acknowledges that.
>>
>>180091417
>>180091231
Fair enough, but if the devs have promised they will fix that kind of shit, have a reputation for eventually fixing that kind of shit, why not do yourself a favor and fix it now rather than later?

They have already confirmed they have a fix in place for the naked corvette spam for example.

Corvette spam got fixed back 1.3(1.4?) when they added tracking.

Thank you for the explanation, I appreciate that SP can get tiresome with pre-set races. I still don't understand what you find more valuable in longer games, but that's just personal taste after all. Tho this line struck me as odd:

>I don't like playing multiplayer because I don't like having to invest hours into not fucking things over for someone else, think mobas.
Could you please explain what you mean? For me mobas and any other sort of MP is selfish excercise of fun from competition. I don't invest hours for others, I do so for my very own self. The only way I can interpret this is to mean that you don't like to stay in the game that you feel already decided, I can appreciate that, tho I feel it's a part of social contract, if you will, to finish MP games to the bitter end.

>>180092674
>>180092840
Yeah, there is an issue with most non combat VC being too easy. I feel turning them off solves the issue. If you mean however that game makes snowballing too easy - I disagree. Simply because more than one player can snowball at the time. When i'm playing SP it pretty much became a standard excercise to butt heads with Cravers who seem to be the most competent AI As patches progress I noticed that AI started getting better at the game, which is a good sign - I hope someday I'll butt heads with AI imperials or AI riftborn for a change.

In MP this thing flies out the window, tho. Why? because you can have a brilliant early game with wonderful start, roll over your two opponents, only to have players take notice of your extraordinary success and gang up on you.

>>180093143
>Stagnant, end-turn spamming endgames are the worst thing in any game
If you are experiencing this in ES2 you are doing something wrong. The only reason to spam end turn in these games if you are few turns away from Victory already or if you need to do some quest that requires you to do something for X turns.

Both factions were a mirror of each other to some degree

>Fan pacifists/egals - charismatic, quick leaners, weak
>Fan mils/auths - strong, quick learners, repgunant

The confusing thing is that it was on insane, so that's 100% food yield increase. There's no way outside of absolute retardation they shoulda starved.

The starving thing is new in this patch, so they probably didn't bother teaching the AI to handle it, as ever.
>>
>>180097025
Yeah but the choices ?
>>
>>180097081
Probably didn't.
The AI also probably does not know how to handle Slaves or Resettlement, so they do not optimize their growth.
>>
>>180097159

When you enter a system, and put a fleet on defend mode, manpower drains from the system's stock. You will see a number on the right of the system's name for that. Once it hits 0, all enemy soldiers are dead and you can go in and clean up. The amount drained per turn depends on the modules of the ships you have in the system, so make sure to bring some ships that have a module for that. Titanium A2G shells on a coordinator ship for example.

The choice is situational on if you want the system or not.

Bombardment is good if you are weaker than the enemy and just want to wreck his planet.Do not try to take planets with bombardment. You deploy much less manpower when bombarding.
Guerrilla is how you actually take planets.
Blitz is when you outnumber your enemy severely and want to quickly clean up to get your manpower back on the boats. It gives you +200 max deployable manpower, which means you can deploy more man at once than your tech level usually allows, but it makes them significantly weaker and as such best left to cases where you are outmatching opponent 2-to-1 or when you are really, really in a hurry and have plenty spare manpower

Good choice, Just keep in mind that their play stile is extremely unique and can be hard to grasp.

There is. It will affect victory citematic should you get it, but not in any significant fashion.

>goals with a faction
Not mechanically related to overall narrative.

>How replayable is each faction?
Depends. If you mean faction quest - each has 2-3 different outcomes. 2 in Vodyani Case.

Hivemind that pre-date the Endless and were locked away under Auriga using the fortress network to stop their mind powers just taking control of everything on auriga while still locked away. Every Morgawr is an independent mind but also part of the greater mind of Morgawr and also sub minds that form when doing tasks. They can practically take over the minds of other species and being locked away for god knows how long has made them very paranoid and angry.

The writing of the quest is fun because as you slowly shut down the breaching wave the narration gets more and more coherent to represent the mind becoming more lucid.

>What is the best way to start conquering the universe?
Ark on every system with at least 3 planets between you and your borders.
>Should I leech untill I kill all on the planet? Should I equip kinetics and bombard/invade?
Early game leeching is superimportant, lategame you can just use dust to essence for it. Usually best to take out colonies and leech homeworld dead. Do NOT kill off minors. They are very useful for vodyani to avoid manpower issues.
>What is the best ship design(s) too move forward with?
The best ship classes are Upgraded attacker and hunter types. Designs vary on what you have and what the enemy has. As vodyani you can never go wrong with energy weapons, cause your heroes get +80% damage for fleet on them if assigned admiral
>>
>>180125705
while that was a nice touch in the trailer, pretty much all of the ingame text is about how the UE wants to become dominant in the stars, defend their way of life, and turn the rest of the galaxy into willing patriots, just like the newly-united raians; the UE does not want genocide, but the cultural death and assimilation of all non-raian societies
>>
>>180126325
>cultural death
That's not really listed anywhere in the game either trough implication, narrative, or mechanics to the best of my knowledge.

While true that UE seeks to assimilate everything and everyone, it is foolish to think that such a process won't have an effect on their own society. This is even true mechanically, thanks to politics system.

For example if you gobble up sophons it becomes way easier to become mezari.

>How do I build arcs without leeching?
Early game? You don't.>>180127007
>Also don't the 3sized support ships for me have better slot?
Coordinators are utterly useless for all factions in ES2 due to how strategic resources and support modules work.
>>
>>180123521
I never got how to play these guys.
>>
>>180127150
>Coordinators are utterly useless for all factions in ES2 due to how strategic resources and support modules work.
Can you explain?
>>
>>180125687
It looks like we just got a load of new content for free.
>>
>>180127598
When installing any module on a ship it's price is multiplied by ship size. Small - by one, Medium - by two, Large - by four. This includes all components of the price, including precious strategics. As a reward for this you get an equivalent multiplier on damage and defence efficiency. What you do not get is any improvement for support modules.

This means that not only you are wasting tech slots to research coordinators, as a reword for you research you get sub optimal ships that eat twice the resources per module without much in a way of improvement. There's an argument to be made about improved survivability, but it's pretty thin.
>>
>>180127995
>What you do not get is any improvement for support modules.
Seems like an oversight and not a design choice.
>>
>>180127007
>manpower
you see that image of people next to your dust and influence? that's your empire manpower
it gets generated by excess food from your systems, and is used to fill ships for the purpose of invasion, staff your systems' defenses, and to upgrade/change your ground forces' composition; unless you purposefully focus on developing it, you'll pretty much always end up with not enough (unless you're unfallen)
if you find that you don't have as much as you'd like, research food techs and the two upgrade techs for your small ships, which will give you patriot pills and stuff; build that stuff, chain gang, improve minor faction relations, and, if you need to, get the food to manpower law, and you'll fill up on manpower real quick
>>
>>180127995
But coordinators also have enough slots (utility + defende) to get you 99% evasion.

That said, most of my fleets are just attackers and protectors.
>>
>>180128138
it is hard to say. Should, for example, Engines be twice as good on medium ships? That would double not only their speed but their dodge rate.
Should the essence siphons be twice as good? That would make wrecking planets with Vodyani even more easy. Should the flotilla shield provide twice the bonus rendering all energy weapons borderline useless on the same tech level.

When used by small protector ships in swarm all those arguments fall flat because you can just blow them up and get rid of the OP problem. But heavily armed and armored coordinators make for a hard kill.

That would be the argument for coordinators being useful in their current form. I consider it pretty thin, as I said prior, but doubling support module effects can easily swing the pendulum into "We wuz Coordinators" territory.
>>
>>180128606
>But coordinators also have enough slots (utility + defende) to get you 99% evasion.
Yeah, but at that point you are just using high end cheese. I am unsure if there is a good counter to it, but suffice it to say you need to do this deliberatly and with forethought to execute. And it will in all likelyhood slow you down in other - more sane - avenues of research.

Tho you are right to note this strategy as it is one of the very few that makes use of them.
>>
>>180128736
>But heavily armed and armored coordinators make for a hard kill.
Dreadnoughts on steroids, buffed by support modules was a big problem in ES1 so maybe that's why they went overboard in ES2 in the other direction.
>>
>>180129023
Isn't there a tactic that prevents you from missing? If you manage to find it, that would counter this.

And it's not like coordinators do a lot of damage anyways.
