I think the translation your referring to with moogy did take a lot of liberties with how flowery it was, but at the end of the day the question of translations is that even if something sounds better to read, it may not be the most 'accurate' in what the original writer was trying to convey. so in that situation I can see what he was trying to do and preferred what he attempted over what Ixrec did.

I would have enjoyed it if the whole thing wasn't built up as the greatest VN in the west. At that point I had already read better novels and moved onto muv luv.

What I got instead of the greatest VN in the west was a slogfest of 60~ hours and I read at 600 WPM.

The pacing was non-existent, the characters had no effect on me and thus the major plot points fell flat since I simply did not care about them.

If they had trimmed out about half of the novels it would be a lot better.
